  1. It's a neighborhood joint, which is great, because when I was there, there seemed to be a lot of regulars and the lady at the register knew their regular orders. Definitely not hip or trendy, but more of a neighborhood place.

It is cash only, and the prices are quite reasonable. I got the Taso's special and they allowed me to choose any bread I wanted since they ran out of croissants. Pretty good, and they are quite generous with the avocado in my opinion.

I don't think I'll go out of my way to go here, since I don't live that close, but it's a good location in the 90s for a low key brunch/lunch/breakfast with friends.

  2. Classic, solid neighborhood joint. It's not much from the outside (or inside) but the food is really good. From the Greek salad with grilled chicken to the breakfast sandwiches – delicious. My only complaint is that this place has weird hours…recommend going earlier in the day to get your fix. 🙂 Oh, and it's cash only!

  3. I was walking around my area and came across this little breakfst place on Columbus. I had a coffee, veggie omellete, toasted bread slices with butter and fruit bowl. Cash only. Some outdoor seating options as well. Food was good. Recommend as a breakfast place once in a while.

  4. Mila Cafe is a neighborhood spot with large portions at a very reasonable price. On my typical morning walk, I decided to give it a try after reading several reviews on Yelp. I wasn't really sure what to expect based on the mixed reviews, however Mila Cafe was a welcomed surprise.

Firstly, the small unassuming cafe can be easily underestimated , dare I say forgotten, in a city like NYC because it is small, has dark tinted windows and the name doesn't offer much in the way of clues to what type of cuisine to expect.

Secondly, their hours are a bit sketchy. Online the hours are posted as early morning, but I passed by at 8:15 and I saw an employee just turning on the "coffee" light in the window. I came back an hour or so later and confirmed the opening time with the cashier. She said they were there at around 8:00am or a few minutes after, but I seriously doubt that was the case.

Thirdly, after placing my order, the food total was very reasonable for the french toast, home fries and the cheese croissant. My total was just under $13.00.  The food was cooked very quickly and the portions were easily enough for two people.

Lastly, everything was delicious. Was it the best meal that I had in New York? No, but it was quite good and served me well for breakfast. Especially compared to some of the other neighborhood places that charged way more money for the same or lesser quality food.  Milo Cafe is certainly worth a try. I'd recommend getting takeout and keeping it moving. Not exactly the someplace that you'd specifically want to dine-in.

  5. The service is fast. Don't let the paper plates and plastic cutlery second guess eating here. The sandwiches and breakfasts are reasonable priced and very tasty. I'm here about twice a week since I moved the the UWS. How can you go wrong for a side of home fries, bacon, breakfast sandwich for under $8?

  6. Decent spot. More quantity than quality but a good value. Cashier staff was friendly and the place was quiet (at 11am for brunch on a Fri).

Particularly liked their BLT while daughter gobbled up their pancakes. Satisfied by experience though I'm not sure I'll go back.

  7. Just a cheap spot where to get your breakfast and leave. As another Yelper had mentioned, it's more quantity rather than quality. However, it works for here and there. On a recent trip to NYC, we stayed in the area and were looking for a cheap, local place to eat. This one popped up as being nearby and it worked for the day. We ate in but I wouldn't recommend that.

I ordered 3 egg whites with wheat toast, honey turkey and a fruit bowl which was quite on the large side. My sister ordered something from the menu with hot chocolate. Service was quick. If again in the area, I'm not sure if I'll return. Maybe, I'll just grab what I need and eat elsewhere.

  8. How can you NOT love Tazo's Special? Fried egg, avocado, cheese and tomato on a croissant, served with a smile, and made with love. I'm so crazy about this dish that I don't even have to say what I want when I come here. They know it: Tazo's Special and a blueberry banana smoothie  and dazzit! The only thing that bugs me is that quite often they run out of croissants really early on. It would be nice if they stocked up on their croissants a bit better. They also ran out of multiple fruits on more than one occasion, forcing me to pick different fruits for my smoothie and to go for bread instead of a croissant with Tazo's Special. Still tasty anyway, but hey: If I want a croissant for breakfast, or certain fruits that a place has on the menu, I'd like it to be available.

This place is very simple and plain. Nothing fancy, but the food keeps me coming back. They are not open until 8.15 AM really in case some of you early birds think that the Yelp hours are correct: They are not. Trust me: I've tried to show up earlier without any luck.

    Cash only.

    Enjoy!
