  1. Relatively budget friendly diner with ok food. The servers are friendly and service is pretty quick. Food quality is mediocre but for a 5 buck breakfast that fills you up I can't really complain. My go to spot when I arrive to work early and had a rough night.

  2. Breakfast for 2 was $15.55 (including a $4 tip) and got us unlimited coffee, a small orange juice, 2 eggs any style, our choice of breakfast meat and home fries. Service was friendly and efficient. This is our go to when we want a good simple breakfast without dealing with the brunch crowds.

  3. With a long line out spilling out the narrow entrance way almost to the sidewalk, my money was on a 30 minute wait. Add in an aging and difficult family member in tow, brought together all the signs of a painful lunch, it was staring me right in the face.

Two counter seats opened up immediately that nobody else wanted, so after a few thank you's to the lunch gods we sat and ordered up some coffees, quickly reading over the menu.
In an effort to move the meal along quickly I ordered something that takes minimal prep time, the fish & chips.

However the menu items were quite extensive and unbelievably well priced. As I munched down the fish triangles, avoiding the under cooked and most unappealing fries I reviewed what menu items I read over in my head. Clearly setting the stage for my return trip which will be on my short list of places I want to return to.
Amazing service, Maria was friendly and humorous as she worked her magic handling what seemed like every customer in the front half of the diner, plus takeout orders.

  4. This is no waffle house, but the prices are cheap. Warning: Cash Only.

I came here several times for breakfast. You can pretty much get any breakfast special for about $5, which includes coffee and a miniature sized orange juice. You really can't beat the value. But you certainly get what you paid for. There's just no flavor whatsoever in anything. Everything just tastes bland. Great place to go if you just need food in your stomach and you don't care what goes in.

  5. This was another failed attempt at a diner.  After we were seated we were presented with some pretty dirty looking menus.  The kind that made me want to go wash my hands after touching them.

I ordered some french toast and eggs.  The french toast was kind of puny and not those big thick pieces that I come to expect from a diner.

The waitress seemed preoccupied the entire time talking to her friends at the bar.  She was not even ten feet from us, but somehow it was still difficult to get her attention.

  6. A bit pricey, but always great.
Turkey bacon egg and cheese sandwiches on a roll are my favorite, and they're very timely.

Pretty sure it's family owned, have been going here since I was a kid.

  7. Small diner in a good location. Your basic no frills quick eats place – service could be better. Our waitress was more interested in chatting with her friend at the counter than checking in on us. French toast was good but small for a diner, I like the big pieces of bread but the syrup was pretty good and didn't taste too fake/sugary.

They need to get new menus – dirty, greasy and peeling along the edges and they keep whiting-out old prices and writing in the new ones so it's yellowing – I had to wash my hands immediately after the waitress took our order.

  8. Love this little diner!  Reminds me of the 24 hours diners when I used to live in NJ or some of the ones that are still around in Queens.  They make a solid breakfast and lunch.  No frills, not pretentious, just down right good homemade cooking.  The portions are generous, but not wasteful.  I am a big fan of the Farmer's omelet.  Everything is good though, you can't go wrong.

I have been coming here for years and they gave the place a facelift from before, the inside is modest and pleasant.  It is a tight fit in there so don't come with a big group, a group of 4 and under is ideal (unless you don't mind sitting apart).  Also, expect a small wait because they are usually very busy.  I assure you it is worth the wait.

Oh and very important, it is cash only.  But one of my favorite things about Mini Star is the bang for your buck.  I come here for brunch regularly and the total bill for the three 3 of us, eating whatever we want and leaving full, is under $30!
