  1. Checked this place out for a friends birthday not too long ago. The place taunts itself as having a lounge atmosphere. It is pretty loungy I must say, so I can't argue with that aspect. They even have an outdoor patio with tables out back.
Now onto the food! For some appetizers I tried their zucchini chips and guacamole. The zucchini chips were super thin and crispy and served with a dipping sauce which I believe was spicy mayo. Very good in my book. The guacamole was super creamy and good. One qualm was they gave you more guacomole than chips and you get charged more if you want more chips. It's usually the opposite at most places. They seem to want to bamboozle you into and cycle of spending more than you should when you run out of chips. I mean they are just nachos! C'mon!
For the main event I got the lasagna which I had no complaints about. It was filled with 3 various meats with a nice sauce. It looks kind of small but it was quite filling.
As for the service, they were kind of scatter brained and my table complained about them a little bit but they weren't too bad. But the service really could have been better.
Overall this place wasn't half bad though.Might be worth a repeat visit.

  2. Reviewing today strictly on the Happy Hour food and service as I have not had dinner here yet.

It is sometimes difficult to find a good place for a last minute Happy Hour for the work crew on a Monday but MK Valencia pulled through.  A noon time phone call with a heads up for over 20 people landed us a nice outdoor patio area, that was clean and well groomed with bamboo around the perimeter.  Clean new furnishings and a fresh look made it a great after work hangout.  There was a large screen TV outside that can be utilized for sporting events.  Will have to remember this going forward.

A young lady Monica was in charge and did a great job of suggesting I place my appetizer orders by phone ahead of time and they would accommodate us in a timely manner.  The group arrived around 4 and we all had a drink in our hand and food to eat by 4:20 or so.  We had Monica and another young lady serving us.

They offered a pretty extensive drink menu from drafts to mai tai at a discounted price which I believe is held until 7pm.  The appetizers were offered in large servings for the group and came out hot and fresh.

Although I did not have the opportunity to have dinner here I would definitely come back and give it a try.  I have at times viewed a Groupon so would check there.

The interior of the restaurant had a very cool vibe and a bar to sit at for a drink.  Parking can be utilized at TD Bank I am told, otherwise you need to pay for metered parking twenty five cents for 30 min until 8pm.  Large groups be prepared.

Will update my review after I get back for dinner.

  3. It's kinda expensive for NJ, but the the happy hour is amazing. I had come for dinner previously, and the food was good, but pricey. If you come during happy hour, everything is totally worth it. Happy hour is Mon-Thurs 3pm-7pm; Fri-Sat 10pm-12am; and all day Sunday.
I came on a Saturday night for happy hour and it wasn't too crowded. The ambiance of the restaurant is trendy, with mood lighting and some lounge seating. There's even an outdoor patio where you can sit in nice weather. It's a great place to take a date.

I was starving, so I forgot to take pictures of half the stuff I ordered. I got the wings, zucchini chips, sliders, fries, a Moscow mule, a lychee martini, and a strawberry margarita. All the appetizers (except the zucchini chips) were only $6 because it was happy hour and it was WORTH IT. The wings were not spicy at all, but they did have a nice sweet glaze. The sliders were all cooked somewhere between medium rare and medium, so they were nice and juicy. The fries were crispy and covered in Parmesan cheese. My favorite item was the zucchini chips. They're like pickle chips, but not as salty.

None of my cocktails were particularly strong, but they were tasty. I especially liked that the Moscow mule was served in the traditional copper mug. I'd definitely like to lounge around the outdoor patio in the summer.

  4. Great food and atmosphere. The seared tuna was cooked to perfection.  We will definitley be back.

  5. This an excellent spot for a date night, or just hanging out with some friends. Pretty modern looking on the inside, and a nice size patio in the back. Sunday Happy Hour is a great deal, 4 dollar well drinks and 6 dollar specialty cocktails, along with 4,5,6 dollar appetizers. You have to sit in the bar area for happy hour though, which kinda stinks. I really enjoyed the Moscow mule, very tasty, tons of mint, extremely refreshing for one of the first warm days of the spring.

The food was good, especially the zucchini chips. They are cut paper thin and fried to crispy perfection, paired with a Russian dressing type sauce, you cannot go wrong with these. The wings were good too, nice size, good amount of meat, and just enough crunch to satisfy. I enjoyed the fried calamari, fried perfectly, big pieces, served with a nice tangy/sweet marinara sauce.

If you are looking for a nice, affordable, sunday happy hour, this is the place. Only negative is street parking only, so come early.

  6. I have had this place bookmarked on here for quite some time, and I finally had the chance to stop in with a friend.
The inside looks more like lounge than a restaurant. It's very nice!
We decided to sit at the bar, and the service was great.
I personally LOVED the music playing in the background.
My friend and I decided to order three different items.
To start, we had blue point oysters and the crab cake.
Both were very fresh and delicious—especially the crab cakes!
We also ordered the penne in a vodka sauce with chicken. The sauce was also good, and the penne was perfectly cooked. The chicken was okay…nothing to brag about.
They also make a decent dirty martini and the prices are very fair for what your getting.
I would also like to mention that when you check in-you get a free glass of wine if you purchase an entree!
I would absolutely love to return in the future.

  7. We came in for dinner the other night while looking for a new place to try and MK Valencia may just be added to my typical restaurant rotation! The decor is very modern which is a bit unusual when juxtaposed with the neighborhood its located in. They offer valet service which is nice, but street parking is free after 8pm on Saturdays and is plentiful.

I had the salmon which was served on a bed on bok choy and tomatoes and topped with enoki mushrooms. They serve the salmon medium rare, which I was initially a little iffy on, but after trying it I have no complaints. The vegetables in particular had been sauteed nicely and added a great deal of flavor to the dish. Particularly the tomatoes which complimented the fish perfectly.

Service was speedy and attentive but without being intrusive. The prices were also entirely reasonable. I have no qualms coming here again or reccomending MKV to others. Try the salmon!

  8. Came here for father's day Brunch.

The restaurant is really cool looking, nice vibe, interesting decor, spacious, it got a little loud at one point, but not too bad. Awesome outside area, you forget you're in bergen county.  I loved that they do Endless brunch drinks, it encourages sitting and talking forever, which could be fun.

The oysters were ridiculously fresh, at 24/dozen, that's a great deal. The tuna tartare was interesting, served with an avocado cream; not traditional, just good. My mom seemed to like the salmon, the salad came with a ton of salmon, couldn't finish. The bacon was great.

My crab omelette was dry and bland, the burger was cooked a tad rarer than asked, the croissant sandwich was dry.

I think they need to work on sweeping the floors and bit, wiping down counters, and cleaning up tables a little faster.

I imagine this place could be awesome for happy hour.

I would be willing to try again specifically for the oysters, the vibe and the booze.
