  1. One of the people I support eats at Nada Sushi once a week at a minimum. My worldly co-worker (she has visited almost every country on the globe!) and I made plans for a Japanese lunch, and I suggested we try my boss' favorite haunt.

The decor is simple but relaxing. The service could have been quicker but I appreciated not being rushed. The food was divine. We both opted for sashimi, and, as no exaggeration, some of the best sushi-grade salmon and salmon roe I have ever had were on my plate.  The salmon was perfectly cut and the roe, as Goldie Hawn described good caviar in "Overboard," "exploded in [my] mouth at precisely the right moment."  It was an experience.

In conclusion, I wouldn't mind eating at Nada Sushi on a weekly basis either.  It's a bit pricey, though, so I will try to exercise a little self-control.

  2. If you are in the neighborhood, this is a reliable place to get your sushi fix. I had dinner here on a weeknight while on a business trip and managed to spend less than $25. The service is attentive, fish is fresh and it is a great place to dine solo, too.

  3. Got the chirachi deluxe to
Go. Was made within five minutes, very good. Cost me $22, ouch. But i dont play around with sushi and its freshness. Wouldgo back

  4. Pretty pricey dinner, but I guess it's normal for sushi. I got the Sushi deluxe for one, which was $27 with tip. Decent food for the price – the eel was drenched in a heavy sauce, and all 6 of the California rolls tasted basically the same. I did like the salmon sashimi and the variety though.

  5. Decent midtown Japanese food.

I wasn't impressed with the lunch specials. They weren't that cheap, and the only bento box on the menu was $20. The box came with 7 pieces of nugget-like teriyaki chicken pieces, a measly portion of tempura, 6 rolls, and 2 shumai.

Our waitress was a bit stoic, but other staff were very cheery.

  6. First off, I like their sushi rice a lot. It's not so sweet, but rather quite vinegar-ish. Nicely firm, too…just how I like it!

Anyway, we had the chirashi special for lunch. (btw – you know the place like this is authentic when the miso soup is served WITH the main entree.) Topped with a decent amount of sashimi, it was highly satisfying. The cuts were fresh, I thought. Ika was especially sweet, and of all things, I liked how they cooked the tamago.

I went with a friend who's a regular here, and the owner (a very friendly woman) came out to check up on us regularly. The other servers were pleasant, too. We were there eating and chatting for two hours (basically for the entire time that they're open for lunch, which is from 12pm to 2:15pm), yet they still asked us to come back!

SUM: I'll go back to try their other lunch specials!

  7. Yes this place is a bit on the more expensive side but to compensate, you get quality food.  I ordered the Chirashi and they loaded it with fish/seafood – sashimi style!  Not the chopped up fish bullshit a lot of places are serving as chirashi.  The seafood was very very fresh.

Bottom line: You get what you pay for – in a good way.

  8. I recently had some time to kill in midtown east as the restaurant that I had originally planned on going to was packed. As I wanted to stay in the neighborhood since I had an appointment later in the afternoon, I wanted to find somewhere near for lunch. Needless to say, Midtown east isn't a place I spend a lot of time in, so I wasn't quite sure where to go.
Eventually, Nada was suggested. This actually isn't the first time That I've been here since it's been around for ever and I had gone way back in the day.
All in all I was quite impressed. The place was not crowded at all and we were seated immediately. The service was good all around.
The high point was the food. We got various sushi and sashimi dishes and everything was very good and seemed quite fresh. I definitely plan on coming back.
The only potential downside is that the restaurant feels a little dated inside. I wouldn't go for the atmosphere, but I would come back for the food.
