  1. Short Review: Bad service. It took waitress almost 30 minutes to get me a straw for my water. My dessert also came out almost 30 minutes later. I only ordered dessert. AND the restaurant was practically empty. EMPTY.

    Long Review: Right in the heart of Exchange Place, I walk in and immediately the waiter at the entrance tells me not to let the door close on its own, apparently there was no hydraulic hinge so the full weight of the very heavy door would slam shut, so I had to quickly save the door from slamming shut.

    I told them they should fix that.

    Anywho, I tell the waiter table for 1. The waiter leads me to this attractive girl standing by the bar, located by the entrance. She directed to my table and handed me two menus and left without asking me for anything to drink, etc. It seemed she needed to be coached by the male waiter so she could come up to me and speak to me. I guess she's new?

    Btw the decor, the lighting, and the tables look awesome, very Asian fusion, and seems like a great place to take a significant other. I look down at the menu and the menu itself looks realllly worn and disgusting, oil stains on the cover and I didn't want to handle the menu, it was sticky.

    I decided to go straight for dessert. Ordered the fried banana ice cream. Asked for a straw for my water in the meantime. Attractive waitress acknowledged and left. 20+ minutes later I get my straw along with the ice cream. There was almost no one in the restaurant so I don't know why it took SO long to prep fried banana ice cream and get me a straw.

    I felt like I was waiting forever. I almost didn't mind because she was cute but then I remembered why I have every right to be mad. A STRAW. That was the last STRAW, I decided then I would write a review of this place.

    Other than the crap service, the fried banana ice cream itself was novel and simply exquisite. The ice cream was a kulfi flavor, very light. Bananas were wrapped in filo dough and fried. The whole dish was drizzled with chocolate syrup. Phenomenal dessert. Would have it again. But they really need to fix their service if they want customers like myself to come back.

  2. The starter platter was quite good. Loved the chicken lolypop. The fried rice and chicken manchurian was OK.

    The staff was bit unprofessional . I also felt the restaurant is bit overpriced.

    Overall a OK experience.

  3. The chicken tikka marsala is really yummy! The nan is also super soft and fragrant. I think the key here is to order Indian instead of Chinese.

    Shout out to yelp check in for free dessert deal, though the mango mousse tasted more like lemon mousse.. But it was free free free!!!

  4. Good menu with a wide selection of Thai, Chinese, and Indian dishes though the atmosphere and service leave something to be desired. The interior has an interesting feel, but is in need of some updating with peeling paint and burned out lights. The service is clearly not interested, particularly during the weekday lunch rush. The food is pretty good, better than a typical Chinese restaurant, and prices, particularly the lunch menu are very affordable. Good food for lunch, but not a destination unto itself.

  5. Yikes. I really do hate giving out two star reviews, but this place just isn't up to snuff in the food department. I actually really like the interior. It's large, spacious, filled with natural light, tucked away in the office building complex also known as Exchange Place.

    The lunch special at $10.99 isn't great. I ordered a hot & sour soup and the chilli tofu which on the menu was described as sauteed tofu and vegetables. In actuality I received deep fried tofu swimming in oily green peppers and onions. There was zero taste except for a hint of spice and there seemed to be thick oil, canola style enveloping every morsel of food. My three slurps of soup was a similar experience. If this was any indication of the rest of the menu, things aren't looking great for Nanking.

    I ate the fried tofu, left the greased up veggies and called it a day.

    I think with a hard look at ingredients and putting a bit more love and attention into the food, this place could be pretty good restaurant.

  6. Giving 3 stars because the food is really good. The take out works great, but, if you go for a sit down lunch, forget about it! It gets packed of people and the waiters forget about you. No free refills on soda (and no, it's not clearly specified, nor do the waiters/waitresses give you a heads up if you ask for another). The food is not really Chinese, but rather indian/thai.

  7. I'm surprised with the low ratings as my experience does not reflect the average valuation of this place; but alas, perhaps I've had a better time due to beginner's luck, or maybe because of the low number of patrons, the chef had more time to make quality food. All in all, I thought this was an okay spot to grab dinner, and I wouldn't mind coming back.

    ———Experience:
    Met up with a friend on a very cold Thursday night around 6pm. I apprehensively approached 101 Hudson as I became worried that my trek here was in vain; I couldn't see any patrons inside and it was dark. I approach the door, thinking it won't open but to my relief Nanking was open for business!

    The host was kind and our server was just as kind. We had the opportunity of choosing where to sit as it was a slow evening for them. The ambiance is low-lit with some rock music in the background along with a view of the streets of Exchange place.

    ———Food:
    Their menu includes half Chinese food and half Indian food. For that night, we stuck with Indian. I usually don't prefer fusions as my experience has told me that they tend to be low quality, but this place was not that bad.

    ===Appetizers:
    – Nanking combo platter non-vegetarian (Lamb Chops, Chicken Satay, Spring Rolls, Kai Chi, Chicken Dumplings, and Chili Fish): The chili fish was flavorful and spicy; the lamb chops were nothing to boast about; the chicken tikka was tender with a bit of taste; the chicken dumplings were average; the spring rolls were subpar; the Kai Chi was spicy and tasteful.

    ===Entrées:
    – Chicken Tikka Masala: Although this was an average-tasting dish, it was satisfying enough for me.
    – Hakka Chili Chicken: As per my friend, this was perfectly cooked and seasoned; I was too stuffed to take a sample.

  8. It is not Chinese, not Indian and not Thai but a fusion of all three.  If you want to grab a bite and want it quick, this is a good place to go especially if you can't decide which to have.  The hint of spicy is also a nice touch than your typical lunch around the area.  Service is good not the worst or the best but they get your orders right and bring out the food while it is still hot unlike other places.  Perfect for groups especially if everyone wants something different.
