  1. This place is a hit or miss depending on what you order. The ambiance is rustic and classy, I especially love the roofed patio in the back surrounded by the green garden…. Perfect setting for a romantic meal! The service is great too, the manager and the server were both friendly and attentive. It's such a shame that the food here is so mediocre, I so wish the food quality was more solid because the restaurant has so much potential! I've been here three times already and their food always failed to impress me….. Even the presentation of the food is unsophisticated and boring considering the price and the overall taste is either just passable or bland. However, their complementary cheese bread is amazing!!! It tastes like Yolkshire pudding, fluffy and delicious! I'll still come back here again because of the beautiful setting, but I can't give you more than 3 stars unless you improve the meal quality.

  2. Great location and great food. Pretty standard American food, some healthy options which I didn't choose. I thought the views were what made this place stand out the most. I had the burger which you can customize to suit yourself. I had it with bacon and they do the bacon really well, crispy and well done. I had asked for the burger to be done medium and it came out well too. It comes with a ton of fries which are super tiny, hot and crispy. I would recommend this place and return as well

  3. Went a few weeks ago for weekday afternoon lunch. The risotto was meh. The peas in it were undercooked. I got the runs about a hour after eating. Not sure if it was the risotto or something else. I'll try the summer brunch becasue the views in the park must be nice but I'll be holding my breath on the quality of the food. I heard this place is under new management, maybe that's why the reviews aren't as great as when I read them 2 years ago.

  4. It is set inside the Fort Tryon Park by Cloister Museum.  It has been called as a neighborhood gem, and I must agree. They just re-opened in April 2015 under the new management, so it has different menu from before.

Menu is rather small, and food is ok, depends on what you order…

  5. On my recent trip to NYC to visit my daughter, we went to the Cloisters and then to this restaurant for lunch. We didn't have a reservation, but were seated fairly quickly.  Unfortunately, because we didn't have a reservation, we didn't get a table on the patio although there were plenty that were not occupied. Service wasn't very good. Took forever to get our drinks…after our meals were served. My daughter ordered her burger medium well, but it was so rare, she could only eat half of it. Disappointing.

  6. It's a solid place for brunch. I took my mom here on a Sunday right when it opened. I would suggest making a reservation to guarantee seating because the space is limited. They have classic indoor seating with a rustic vibe as well as an "outdoor" area even in the winter that is enclosed. It's a very nice place to get brunch.

First of all, the coffee was good and free flowing. I must have ended up drinking 6 cups by accident.

    1. Market omelette: Portions were large and came with a side salad. Tasty and fresh.

    2. Crab cake sandwich: I loved this! I'm usually not a huge fan of seafood for brunch, but this looked unique so I wanted to try it. I'm glad I did. They didn't skimp on the crab.

  7. It's definitely a cool location and I love the fact that it has Abita purple haze so I'll definitely be back for that.  Who wouldn't be thrilled to have purple haze on tap in the neighborhood?  My friend and I went for lunch after touring the cloisters.  We were starving and the service was really slow.  A lot of people who arrived after us got their food before us.  My cheese plate was good.  There were two cheeses, one truffle and one goat.  I think my friend was happy with her burger.  It's not the most unusual selection of food.  I think when I go back, I'll check it out for drinks in the evening and see what the vibe is like then.

  8. It may be a far hike getting to, but this place is well worth it! It's in a dainty cottage in the middle of the park. The atmosphere inside was great and the food was amazing!! Everything was perfect here! No complaints at all.
