  1. Being a fan of Caribbean cuisine, I've been meaning to check this joint out for a while, and I'm glad I finally did. The shrimp curry instantly reminded me of the roti I used to have as a kid growing up in my old neighborhood.

Great value, well seasoned and delivered right on time. My wife had the jerk chicken and gave it a solid A-. The vegetable "beef" patty left a lot to be desired however, which was disappointing as I was looking forward to it.

All in all a great meal with great value and not too spicy for novices to the style of cooking. Sure it's got some heat to it, but smoke's not going to shoot out of your ears. Another Jersey City gem, and I'll be back soon!

  2. I was just walking the street looking for a quick and easy bite and Nicole's had a good Yelp rating so I stopped in to grab a jerk chicken patty. It had a nice blend of the Caribbean spices with a decent portion of tender chicken all wrapped in it's own pastry shell so it was perfect to eat while walking around town. It's all I had here, but I'd come again for another one, and it was so good that I'd try some other menu options if I'm more hungry on a future visit. Add one of these to your order, or keep a couple in the fridge to warm up as a late night snack!

  3. Although this place looks a tad bit run down, I assure you the food is not.

Nicole's is a total change up to my takeout order and I liked it. What I didn't like about it was that the jerk pork was fattay. Like super fatty. With that being said, the curry chicken had that dry subtle seasoning and was real good (minus the chicken being a little too dry for my taste). The rice and beans were delicious, as in scrape the bowl delicious and the really large portions for the $7 price tag makes this place a solid spot.

Beware of the hot sauce!! I pretty much smother everything in hot sauce and Nicole's homemade stuff is not fucking around; my mouth was on fire! Tread lightly.

  4. Great to have a Caribbean option in downtown JC. Will definitely hit the spot if you're craving some jerk or curry chicken. Unfortunately when we ordered delivery here one night they overdid it on the salt quite a bit on our jerk chicken and oxtail stew. Was disappointing because the flavors were otherwise good. Would still give this place another try, though – hopefully was just an off night.

  5. Beef patties! really moist and delicious meat inside, perfectly seasoned and the dough is thin and crusty in all the right places. If you are really into the hot stuff, ask for the pepper sauce. This is the hottest pepper sauce I've ever had – don't say I didn't warn you.

  6. I stopped in for lunch after working in the area. Their food was nothing short of amazing. Highly recommend.

  7. I really wasn't sure how I'd feel about this place. It didn't even cross my mind until my roommate came home one night with goat curry take out. One bite and I was already sold, so I knew I'd have to officially try it out soon.

Boyfriend and I got take out on a Friday night. The place is a little more grungy than I had expected, but I love it when no gimmick hole-in-the-walls really impress me. The food is that much better because it only set us back a few dollars!

We each got the same exact meal. Jerk chicken on a bed of rice and beans, fried plantains and a jamaican beef patty. DA BOMB.

The chicken was so tender it fell beautifully off the bone. The rice and beans were flavorful and delicious, albeit it had to be completely unhealthy because it was so good. My only complaint was that the plantains were probably cooked a little too long ago; it couldn't get away with sitting in the display case for that amount of time.

I loved the beef patty, bread was soft and the filling seasoned and spiced well. This is the first time I enjoyed Nicole's, but definitely not the last.

Great for take out, probably not to eat in!

  8. Wish the service is a bit more attentive here. Ordered a Jerk Pork and Curry Chicken Roti. Ended up getting Jerk Chicken instead. Lady on the phone didn't even offer to resend the order. What do I do with 2 different types of chicken for dinner? Bummer !
