  1. Came here for happy hour and while the appys were great @$4/plate and very yummy, the service didn't seem to be happy about our presence. The other thing was that draft beers were 2/$7 , my girlfriend decided to split two beers. Midway thru, the waitress tells us each person had to order two beers. I wasn't happy about that since my friend didn't really drink and I had convinced her to share the deal. Now she had two glasses  hardly touched. I didn't appreciate the waitress not informing us this esp. Cause she heard me convince my friend. So, 2 star deduction for Inhospitality. It is a pretty restaurant with a huge budda as decor. The other side of restaurant has hibachi tables with the usual fare. I'm not into hibachi. Way too much smoke usually and you come out smelling like it. Otherwise it's a pretty place for a date.

  2. Wow. Pleasantly surprised. Came with hubby and son. Waited 5 minutes for a booth. Ordered drinks: nigiri, Sapporo on tap. Appetizers: spicy tuna and avocado balls (actually bland but not bad) beautiful presentation. In fact all the plating is beautiful!  Also citrus salmon carpaccio (light, lovely flavor). Tom yom soup (Thai I know , but really good with shrimp and scallops).  Seafood miso soup (lots of seafood and good miso broth).

Dinner was chicken teriyaki with fried rice (nice presentation, with crunchy onions and sweet sauce and broccoli). Hibachi shrimp and scallops too. We didn't get to see the "hibachi" show but the food was delicious.

    We will so be back!

  3. My fiancé and I visited on a Saturday  night around 7 while our son was across the street at MyGym. Upon us entering the restaurant we were greeted and seated. That was awesome because most restaurants at that time have a long waiting time. We opted to sit at a booth instead of hibachi.

The ambiance is modern and sexy. Which I love. The lights a really dimmed enough for a romantic feel but still well lit to be able to read your menu.  There's a bar area on the other side of the partition where we were seated. There are 3 televisions in the bar area.

As we began to look at our drink menu and menu, we were greeted by our waitress, Anne. She took our drink orders. He had a Margarita and I ordered a Sake Bomb. While we were waiting for our drinks we continued to look through the menu. We ordered a sushi roll (the name is escaping me). We both ordered hibachi plates which include soup, salad, veggies, 2 shrimp and fried rice.

While we waited for our dinner the sushi came out. And I must say it was delicious. We finished our drinks and the wait to have refills was a bit of a wait. Our soups came out but were a bit underwhelming because they were overly salty. The salad was just mediocre. Just your standard hibachi salad with carrot ginger dressing.

Our dinner arrives and it looked divine. The aesthetics of the plate alone made up for the salty miso soup. I ordered the salmon and he ordered the steak. I enjoyed my meal. I didn't consume my fried rice as I am off of consuming white rice. He enjoyed his steak as well.

For Dessert I ordered a fried green tea ice cream and he had the pistachio cappichio. The dessert was also delicious.

The down side of the visit was the length of time in between reordering drinks. When she finally did take our drink orders she brought the wrong drink for me. When I asked her to me the correct drink she tried to persuade me to keep it saying it was delicious. I sternly told her no I cannot consume it because it was made fruits and alcohol I was allergic to.
All in all I would return for another dining experience.

  4. This review is based off of a take out order from GrubHub. I am giving a three star, because when I called the restaurant after 45 mins (estimated time on GrubHub of when the order would be ready), the guy who picked up said that they never received my order. After 10 minutes on the phone, he realized that my order was in fact received and told me the order will arrive in 20 minutes. I was a little irked by this as it seems they don't know which orders they have received or haven't received causing me to panic as I was extremely hungry!

Now the review for the food: I ordered a hibachi chicken, hibachi steak, shrimp mango roll and fried cheesecake for a valentine's night in. The hibachi chicken and steak wasn't bad, it was cooked a little too long, but still good. The shrimp mango was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Delivery was okay, again, nothing out of the ordinary. Fried cheesecake was completely gross- no flavor. Took a couple of bites and threw it away.

So the ultimate question is would I order from here again? Given my experience, I am willing to give it a try again. It is a good alternative for ordering hibachi in. Hoping that they would manage their orders a little better.

  5. This was our first time at this establishment and we went based on a recommendation from a friend.

Parking can be rough, paid parking on Union or residential parking on side streets.

Very nice décor, bar and private booths in the front and hibachi grills in the back.

We had hibachi and some sushi and everything was good.
    Wait staff was attentive
Orders were placed and come out correctly and nothing was a long wait.

Hibachi chef was nice, a little entertaining, but nothing over the top.

Good experience, food is ok, but we have had better hibachi at other establishments.

I might go back to hang at bar, have some sushi and watch a game on TV's they have in bar area.

    Very clean establishment as well

  6. Large restaurant that is great for large groups. I came here with a party of 20+. No parking lot, Only street parking.

I ordered the Avocado Tartar, and Spider Crab Roll.

The avocado Tartar was wrapped in a ball shape which was pretty interesting making it super presentable. However, taste wise, it was pretty bland, the tartar lacked flavor. You had to literally dump it in soy sauce.  The Spider Crab Roll was also all right, I felt like it lacked any character to it. It was simply ingredients and the spider crab put together. Nothing really screamed at me. Pricing, for the flavors and food did not match up in my opinion. I wouldn't return unless i had another party, or outing here that was good for big groups.

  7. Aesthetically pleasing from the Buddha you see upon entry and the sexy lighting. Hibachi restaurants are not one in the same. Some are more entertaining then others and even the food may differ.

Nikko is a delicious and slightly overpriced hibachi restaurant. I guess with the theatrics they up-charge on things that should be $2-$3 less. However with that being said, we enjoyed ourselves. We were stuffed beyond belief.

Once you step inside Nikko, you're asked how many and if you prefer hibachi or a booth? Keep in mind if you choose hibachi you are not able to order everything from the kitchen menu i.e: Steak Teriyaki dinner. I was a bit surprised because it didn't make sense that my bf couldn't order what he desired. Thumbs down for that.

What made it even more comical was that we ordered things that were made in the kitchen and not on the grill. We started off with the King Crab Avocado Roll which was extremely fresh and light. Unfortunately, the rolls fell apart when we used our chopsticks to pick them up. Forget about trying to dip it into the eel sauce.

We ordered hibachi entrées for dinner: Steak and Shrimp hibachi combo and the Chicken and Shrimp combo for our entrées. Hibachi entrées comes with soup, green salad, 2 piece shrimp appetizer mixed vegetable and fried rice.

  8. I came in around 130pm for lunch and the place was pretty full; I took that as a good sign. The hostess greeted me and lead me to a booth close to the door. From what I could see of the restaurants decor, it was nice. The bar was huge and the lighting fairly dim; perfect environment for a date.

I started off with a Nicole Mule which had vodka, pomegranate juice and ginger beer. I didnt get any ginger flavor but the drink was very sweet and tangy from the pomegranate juice. A bit overpowering but still tasty. After two of those I was feeling great! For my main, I went with the hibachi shrimp lunch special which was only $9. It came with a side salad and a choice of fried, white or brown rice. I chose brown rice. After about 15 minutes, the waiter came back to  inform me the brown rice would take an hour to cook. What?…Why was I not intially told this?!…I switched to fried rice and within 30 seconds my food came out. Ofcourse my shrimp was cool to the touch -_- which was disappointing but I was starving and didn't complain bc I wasnt about to wait again. The lunch portion was just enough. It came with 8 shrimp, some chopped cucumbers, mushrooms, onions, carrots and a few broccoli pieces. Besides the temperature of my food, it did the job.

I would return to try other items on their menu.
