NYY Steak – Yankee Stadium

“Heard that there's a fix prixe combo tour/lunch package that would certainly be worth looking into for a first timer.”

“I rank it with Gallagher's and Ruth Chris but nothing can top Peter Luger's. I would go back here in a heartbeat!”

“We split a porterhouse, which isn't offered "for 2", but we really didn't need that much meat anyway.”

  1. Actually came here but my trip was half failed. It was during 2009's ALCS Game 4 I believe and we got here early to grab steak and watch the game. Sadly, the game was rained out and was delayed a day. FAIL right? As a consolation prize, I guess we settled for steak and then checking out the museum afterwards.

The NYY Steak is actually pretty damn nice. It's not a Black Angus or anything crappy like that. This looks and feels like a real steakhouse. You take the elevator up to the steakhouse, where you're seated at a pretty nice spot. There are TVs there so you can watch the game, or in my case, watch the rain fall on the field.

As far as what I ordered, I got the New York strip for $44 and a soup for $10. Prices are pretty standard for a steakhouse, do I didn't feel like I was getting ripped like with a $8 hot dog. The little pretzel bread that they give you is pretty good. I love pretzels, so that was an instant win for me. When I cut into the steak and ate it, I was actually surprised. It was actually cooked pretty well, and the taste actually justified the price. I mean you wouldn't come here just for steak, but if you have nothing to do that day, come a couple hours early before the game and have a nice steak. A dinner for 2 will run you around $120-$140 after tax and tip.

You get yourself set and full here, ready to cheer on the Yanks.

  2. Again.  Holding steady at 4 stars.

On a rainy even snowy, opening day, this place was an excellent respite for a $17 sliced steak sandwich that was only $2 more than the prime rib sandwich that I get in the stands.

Attention to detail is not lost, with varying numbered, retired player plates, and blue and white cloth napkins.  Overall a fine experience for the discerning baseball fan.

The bread alone (in the shape of a pretzel) is worth it, and is probably about a $10 savings, compared to what you'd pay in the concession stands.

We were seated immediately, with no reservation, even in the early innings.   This is a nice option.

  3. Cool spot located inside the Stadium. I went for a private party, so I really didn't get to experience the restaurant itself. The setup inside is nice, although I would've appreciated a view of the field and NOT the McDonald's across the street.

Would I go back? Possibly. The food on the regular menu did sound good, but as Mets fan, I will tread lightly.

PS- if you go for a private party, don't bring gifts. They ARE NOT ALLOWED. Ummm yea….thanks security.

  4. I've dined in restaurants before where the chef was working and have been to some of his catered events.  He is pretty talented. Was looking over he menu for the new steakhouse at Yankee Stadium! Can't wait to try it. Sounds delicious. Will repost review soon.

    Go Yankees! 🙂
Plenty of Big Screens in here

Date Rating: TBD (Definitely a 10 if your date likes sports!)
Pick up Scale: N/A (probably easier to meet interesting people here if you're a baseball + Yankee Fan! If you're feisty wear some Red Sox Garb.)

  5. Went on a non-game day and had the place to ourselves except for one other couple.
The pretzel bread they give you (on a diamond shaped plate) w/ the cheddar cheese mustard butter is yummy! Thankfully we opted to skip an app and go straight for dinner because no normal human can eat an entire portion of this food.
I had the 14 oz NY Strip ($32) with a side of garlic mashed potatoes($9). The steak was a perfect med rare and so flavorful from the marbeling in the steak, the potatoes were also wonderful. My mom had the pork chop served with farro ($40)  The waiter had said it was an incredibly moist double cut chop but I believe it was more like triple cut!! That thing could feed 2 starving people and yes it was moist and delicious. She also got a side of the lobster mac and cheese (large enough for 2-3 to share $12) which was sooooo good with large pieces of lobster claw in it.We shared a massive piece of carrot cake ($13) which was very good but not the best according to the waiter.
This place is incredibly delicious and the prices are on par with any other great steakhouse and well worth it for the portions and quality of food. I rank it with Gallagher's and Ruths Chris so I wish I could give this 4.5 stars cause nothing can top Peter Luger's. I would go back here in a heartbeat

  6. We have dined here for New York Yankee games almost every time we have been to a game. If you don't reserve in advance, your chances of dining here before the game start is not good. We normally would either have drinks at the bar when waiting for a table without reservations. The Steakhouse is very crowded most of the time unlike the other NYY Steakhouse in the NY City. Their food is excellent along with their service. They have an excellent selection of wines as well. Of course, the interior is all about the Yankees with TV's to watch the game. In many occasions I have had too much fun with friends in the restaurant that we have found ourselves finally sitting in our seats sometime in the fourth inning.
