  1. In great despair and distraught, with a friend, I sought a late lunch to sustain substance on Queens' Boulevard of Death (aka Queens Boulevard).  We ordered the special of tuna Bento Box to be shared, with great difficulty from my mental state of distraught, I grind through the Miso soup and ginger salad while the rest were wholly engulfed by a friend.  Quality of food was average.  I was not well stricken in shock that I was on the verge of vomiting thus occupied the one facility for at least ten minutes.  Facilities are relatively clean with very minimal amenities in this one facility.

Oki is a small dinning room with mean spirited staff who constantly shoot us a rude scowl look for disturbing their off-duty hours of their lunch.  We took our time to eat while we talked.  The entire restaurant's staff were all lounging casually for break or eating their lunches, nevertheless, our party of two were the only patrons in this small dinning room.  When requesting for more Green Tea, the waiter gave us nasty look with a loud sigh and muttered "no more Green Tea, we're actually closed now! We have no more of what you want!!"  The moment's status was not to cavort sprightly at Oki, but was a ill experience in seeking comfort with food to dispel reality's poison.

Rather than willing to serve us throughout the whole meal, they shot us dismissive and vile looks + mutter grunts — unacceptable in the hospitality industry.  A simple + polite "We sorry but we're actually close now" should suffice and my party of two would not disturb their precious time or effort but that was not directly conveyed to us, ergo, the staff would not need to uphold cooking or serving us during the mid-afternoon of 2PM.  This statement was not voiced by the staff so we took our time for lunch unknownst to their closed business, but they did not turn us away before we sat down.  The person I was with is a elderly white man.  Had we known Oki Japanese was currently closed would be a different case and the two of us would not sit down for lunch.  I was very disappointed at how we were serviced.

  2. I come to this restaurant because it is very conveniently located to my apartment.  However, I feel like I'm settling every time I do.  There are much better sushi locations in the neighborhood.  Oki doesn't have the best sushi roll choices and the fish doesn't always taste fresh. I order the asparagus roll often and sometimes that is a hit or miss as well. The asparagus sometimes has a weird after taste like it is old.  There's a chance I'll be back, but I'd rather walk the extra few blocks and go else where.

  3. I came here for lunch with my family. Their lunch specials seemed limited. I ended up ordering 2 maki roll for $7.50, which came with a soup and a salad. The miso soup was tasty and the salad was fresh. I had the eel roll and the salmon skin roll. They were good, but nothing to rave about. My dad had some sushi, which was fresh. I also tried some of my cousin's udon noodles, which were tasty. Overall, I might come back here again if I am unable to find another Japanese place in the area.

  4. Oki Japanese is a restaurant you go on a Tuesday night after a hard day's work and no motivation to cook at home.  Oki has reasonable prices, no wait ever, friendly attentive service, and a peaceful atmosphere. Not a great place for a sushi date unless it's with a girl with no potential.

I suggest you order the Bento Box! You cannot go wrong by ordering the chicken or beef terriyaki bento box.  The price and portions are different for lunch and dinner, dinner slightly more expensive, but with larger portions.  I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

  5. Oki is awesome.  I have only gotten delivery, but it is fast and VERY fresh.  Sashimi platters are a great deal, $15 for dinner or $9.50 for lunch, for 15 pieces of sashimi, salad, and soup, plus rice (which I never eat, but it's a lot of food!).  I don't think I've ever had such delicious whitefish sashimi as I've had here.  The wasabi shumai is awesome too.

  6. good enough for lunch deal.
