  1. Seems to be a friendly, family-run, soondubu place that doesn't charge as much as the more commercial ones (if u like soondubu u know it). They give salad, kimchi, and the spicy fish cake thing for banchan. I'd say the mushroom soondubu that I had was pretty good even though I was expecting it to be even spicier. They also doesn't have other drink options other than water and tea

  2. This place is absolutely delicious. Service is quick and attentive. I have never eaten anything here I haven't liked, from the organic tofu stews to the bibimbap to the bulgogi. They serve apps beforehand as well. Their tea is incredible. Parking can be a challenge, but it's worth parking farther away and walking here if you need to.

  3. Great food and service!! Love this place.

The people there are so friendly. I'm a regular customer that they all recognize my face by now. The first time I went there I ordered a tofu stew combination that wasn't on the menu. They were completely fine with it and made me the combination I wanted and didn't charge me extra for that.

Love the veggie pancake and mushroom tofu. The fish tofu (free appetizer) was amazing too. I always ask for more. They will gladly give you more for free.

  4. I live right by Fort Lee and Palisades Park. I came here when I was visiting a few friends and got really excited to try a Korean place that wasn't in Fort Lee or Palisades Park! I was pleasantly  surprised.

The scallion pancake is really memorable. Huge portion and big chunks of squid with fried scallion pancake blew me away. Couldn't stop eating it.

They give you yummy apps including the classic kimchi as you wait for your meal. We also had the Korean beef short ribs which were my favorite.

I ordered the kimchi beef bimpap. Yummm. Love the spicy flavor and tender beef. Really nice portion size for all of the dishes. Plenty of room to get a seat and if you live in this area there is no reason to go to Fort Lee!

  5. Luncheonette-style Korean comfort food in a non-pretentious setting that delivers honest flavors from a small menu.  The "hook" seems to be a claim to "organic" cookery and the use of distilled water, with no MSG added.  Considering the moderate ppp that rivals tabs at more sophisticated spots ($30+) we expected more from this place than a "health food" claim. The food underwhelms too.  Banchan is the obligatory starter at any decent Korean eatery, and it was ok here, but in limited variety.  I'm used to the 5-6 plate spread plus a gearan jim (steamed egg custard) served by most of the best joints in PalPark and Ft. Lee. The OTH serves only 3 (kimchi, sprouts and fish cake) in tiny quantities for two; sort of an "amuse bouche" instead of a traditional Korean appetizer.  OTOH, The bibimbop is excellent (we had the crab and salmon versions – think – Korean paella) with sizzling, caramelized bits of rice on the bottom of the bowl, plus nicely spiced vegetables, rice noodles and gochujang to go with. The seafood pancake was seasoned well, but the squid was chewy and the pancake itself, doughy and greasy.  Soups and stews here are standard fare, nothing spectacular, with the kind of silky tofu you find in most Korean tofu joints.  Dumplings are thin skinned and pan fried to a nice crisp, but the filling (vegetable) was tasteless.  This is a popular place for all ages, especially on Friday nights when folks turn out in waves, with  3-4 seatings per night.   Catch it early or late if you want comfortable seating for 2 or 4, and BYOB.  Not a bad local place really if you hanker for a quick bibimbop or tofu stew, want to stay local, and enjoy service with a smile from the Korean lads who buzz around you like flies.  But you really must look to Palpark or Ft. Lee (or Queens for that matter) for more ambitious (and authentic) Korean restaurants that offer more refined dining; just expect the food to be down right silly with glutamates.

  6. In terms of the North Bergen area, this is the best Korean restaurant.  For other authentic, great tasting Korean food options, you have to go down to the Fort Lee/Palisades Park area.  The Soondooboo and Kalbi are both very delicious, and the wait time for your food is never long.  This place seems to always be packed, so I guess other people enjoy the food as much as I do.  I just wish it was open on Sundays as well.

  7. I am a proud regular of this place! Besides the small parking lot, I love eating here. A very casual, family owned restaurant and the only Korean food in the immediate area. For only about $10 including tip, you can leave satisfied with a full belly. I always get the vegetable dumpling soft tofu medium spicy. For anyone who is not familiar with Korean food, this place may not be as intimidating because there are plenty of American customers, although the majority are Korean. The owner is a sweetheart and most of the servers are as well, but I did get one server who clearly did not want to be there. Other than her, I've never had a bad experience. It is my go to if I need a savory meal close to home.

  8. Really enjoyed this place. Growing up in Queens, soondobu is a great, spicy dinner. I ordered the seafood/meat combo tofu soup (spicy) and the hubby ordered the seafood tofu soup (also spicy!). We also shared the seafood pancake, which was our fav! Not greasy at all. Great service, very attentive. Cant wait to come back!
