  1. Came here with a hot date. It was an impromptu decision because we originally wanted to go to Mercadito which was a few blocks down. We were seated outside already at Mercadito when something just didn't feel right (and this location does not serve steak on the menu).

Somehow we ended up in Organika. Glad that we did because we had the best outdoor seating. It was different from the rest as it faces the sidewalk (no, it isn't as weird as it sounds). In all fairness, it was what we both wanted.

For appetizers, we got the grilled eggplant and calamari. I liked the eggplant, but I think there was too much cheese for my taste. The grilled calamari was lightly seasoned – not overpowering.

For our main entrees, I had the NY strip steak – as recommended by our waitress. I REALLY enjoyed it. The chimichurri sauce went very well with the steak. It tasted a bit different from other chimichurri sauces I had in the past, but it was still very very good. My date got the bobo de camrao which was jumbo shrimp in yucca puree and palm oil served with rice and coconut milk. I could tell that he didn't really like it and neither did I. This was also recommended by our waitress as a nice Brazilian dish. We were both a bit disappointed, actually. The shrimps were served inside a yucca bowl, which was cute. But the dish itself barely had any flavor.

For an organic spot, this place was not at all bad. I cherished both of the appetizers and my steak. Oh and the caipirinha was yummy!

  2. I can hardly remember what I had to eat.
Because it was the drink that caught me.
    Hibiscus something or other.
So good I had to have another.
    and, I think, another.

Just sat, listening to live music in the corner.
    My companion had a salad.
    I think.
    I nibbled it.
    It was so good.
But don't ask me what it was.

Because I was staring off, into the street, from my perfect perch inside, out.
Watching the traffic make streaks of light in the night.
Looking up at the loft apartments/ or art studios come alive as the residents came home and turned on the lights.

Yeah, good food, great vibe, chill smooth live music.

  3. What impressed me most at Organika are the friendliness from staff and the laid-back ambiance. Recently a friend of mine had her birthday party there and she bought a cake from her favorite bakery somewhere else. The staff at Organika welcomed this even though it means much more extra utensils and work. When the blowing and singing part came, they cutely pulled out a little candle and helped organize the moment. And then a guy suddenly realized something and yelled "hold on". He carefully took down a Polaroid camera which is randomly hung high in a corner of the wall and shot a beautiful blowing moment for the birthday girl. I felt this kind of sensation very funny and cute – like a dejavu of the 80s when films are only for the most precious moments and digital was still out of imagination. Eating at Organika is like casually eating at your next door neighbor's home, not at a restaurant. I like that feeling.

  4. We wandered into this place last night as our original destination had a two hour wait.  The past couple times we have been out to eat, we have gone to relatively new locations – and it certainly shows.  The decor and service at Organika needs some work, and they even mentioned that they are redoing part of the decor this week.  It was also incredibly quiet (no music or sound of any kind) throughout most of our meal, which did not help the ambiance.

Despite the issues with the decor, the food was pretty good.  We started off with the Hummus & Guacamole and I had the hen for the entree.  The hen was flavorful and was served with lots of spinach and onions.  My fiancee had the black linquine with shrimp, which was tasty.  It's also nice to think that everything we were eating was organic.

If they can make the environment a little more appealing, it could very well become a success.

  5. I really, really wanted to love this place but I just wasn't that impressed. Drinks are fine but nothing impressive, and we ordered some appetizers (hummus, guacamole) that tasted…not home-made. I love the idea of this place and think the space is quite cute so I'll probably give it another shot, but not too impressed so far.

  6. What a cute spot!! I loved sitting on the outdoor patio relaxing with my friends, people watching, and enjoying a sweet evening outdoor.

We shared plates all night and got to try a variety of delicious items. My favorites were the buffalo mozzarella and the fresh burrata! Served on a fresh bed of greens, you cut yourself a slice and pair it with the delicious homemade herbed flat bread! The zum! Cheeses are delicately chosen and imported from their original place of creation in Italy and you can tell they have character. Loved it!
The desserts were amazing as well! Best tiramisu of my life! Not usually a fan of tiramisu at all because of the creamy and awkward texture. Organika's tiramisu doesn't follow the traditional recipe! This was rich, thick and more like a slice of cake. Delectable. We also shared a chocolate cake- will make you want to sell your soul to the devil.

Great experience overall, delicious traditional homemade food, great spot on the outdoor patio! Daniello is an amazing sommelier who will help you pair your delicate dishes with amazing wines! Also from Italy, he can tell you all about the delicacies served 🙂

  7. So we randomly stumbled upon Organika on Cinco de Mayo, since wandering around the West Village seemed like the thing to do, and we were SO happy with how the experience turned out. We waited around for a couple to leave the outside area with a bench since there were going to be five of us, and the waitstaff was SO friendly with making us a priority. The tables are a little rickity, and it took us a little while to get settled with water glasses and tableware, but they seemed a little overwhelmed with the demand that night, so I'm not going to hold it against them. The outside seating was perfect for the warm spring evening, and the place in general is so open and welcoming with fresh flowers on the tables.

Long story short, we somehow convinced them to make us a pitcher of margaritas (they apparently don't usually do that), and we got the free wine with the Yelp deal. We were helped out by our waiter Courtney who was absolutely the BEST. He made sure we were content with everything the entire time we were there, and it was a great experience. We ordered the hummus and guacamole plate, which comes with corn chips and pita, and we also ordered the calamari in a creamy tomato sauce with vegetables, which was amazing! I highly recommend this place if you want a solid night of reasonably priced organic appetizers, great drinks, and an INCREDIBLE waitstaff.

  8. Food is super fresh and tasty.   Don't order the pizza. They serve it on a plate not a brick stone or wood which results in a soggy pizza. Returned it. They made a fuse.  Whatever.  Order eggplant lasagna….incredible! Also ordered the bolognese pasta…Yummy!  Don't Order the crab cakes.  They are the shape and size of a quarter. Not worth it.  You can't even taste it because it's too small for a full bite.
