  1. Staff, food, drinks, ambiance — everything here is absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend the calamari, the salmon, or the stuffed shrimp. Any of the non-pasta entrees can be modified to include pasta instead of potatos and veggies.

Will definitely return next time I'm in Little Italy!

  2. Cute spot in little Italy – portions are huge and made good leftovers the next day! got the chicken pellegrini and broccoli rabe – was happy with my meal, the ambiance and the service.

  3. pellergino's was the best discovery in little Italy today. My friend and I came here for lunch since we saw the great Yelp reviews and we checked out the lunch menu outside which was very decently priced and decided to walk in. We were greeted by the very nice and polite staff and we were seated right away. The bread basket was a very generous potion and selection, everything seemed freshly made which is my favorite part of every restaurant. I got the Montibianco salad with grilled chicken, it was a big portion and the chicken was perfectly grilled. My friend got the fettuccini Alfredo which I tried and we both agreed that it's the best fettuccini Alfredo we've ever had so far. It's been an excellent experience, Pellergino's.

  4. Absolutely fantastic choice !!

Ended up just going into one that looked good, sign out front said it was Zagat rated and figured I would give it a go.

Great take on fried Mozz for an appetizer, light breaking with a good red sauce (almost like a home made tomato soup).

Chicken Parm was out of this world (with Penne) and a generous portion.

Speaking of generous, the bartender had a very heavy hand (which is good of course), so don't fear ordering up a drink.

Didn't have dessert, was just too stuffed – I highly recommend this place if you are looking for Pollo – I am very discerning about my birds and these guys knocked it out of the park.

  5. We chose this restaurant solely based on reviews and that they carried gluten free pasta.  We called at around 6pm for 7:30 reservations for 5 people, we were late and there was line BUT our reservation was still held.

The pros – service was absolutely incredible! They must perform "group" service because there were at least 5 people who came by the table, no matter who was the server, they knew what we were drinking/eating.  The manager/owner must have stopped by 4 – 5 times.  My husband who travels extensively for work said and is still saying it was the best service he can remember.  He DID share this with the owner/manager!

Good – loved the bread!  There were a couple of different types.  Between us we dined on Chicken with pasta, veal, filet stuffed chicken – yep I really just said that.  I don't remember what GF daughter had but she was pleased.  As a side note – if you are ordering GF, you just tell them and when cooking the entree they will NOT bread it and of course, serve with GF pasta.  Most of the entrees were served with farro (sp) but you are able to substitute pasta for no charge.  My husband and one daughter enjoyed the Farro.

Prices – everyone has a different idea of reasonable but I know my veal was $26-27, so were the filet stuffed chicken.  The other entrees were less! My veal and the filet had three large piece, the chicken had two breasts. Pasta and other side were large portions too.  We thought it was extremely reasonable and had leftover galore.  Entire bill was ~ 180 and the included a few drinks( 4 I think) , a glass of wine, at least one beer!

    CONS – NONE!!!!!

  6. NYC best Italian authentic through and through. Love the …everything. Pass the hawkers and come here. You won't be disappointed. Hint: I'm Italian and I loved it!

  7. Walking up and down little italy looking for a good  italian restaurant to eat at, i took out my trusty yelp to help find me a good one.

Thank you for the tips on how to choose since there were so many restaurants next to each other within the two blocks. It seemed like the ones that weren't that good were desperately asking customers to dine at their restaurants.

This restaurant was in the middle – not aggressively asking, yet getting ready to seat us while we were looking at the menu. However, their dishes were a little on the pricy side:

Gamberoni oragonate – 4 stars – for $27.95, my son always has great choice of taste and selected the best dish of us all. Not as expensive as other dishes, but the flavors mixed with a strong wine taste were superb with shrimp stuffed with herbed bread crumbs was worth the price.

Fetuccini con aragosto – 3 1/2 stars – for $34.95, this dish had homemade arugala  sauce with shrimp and lobster. A very unique tasting pesto sauce worth eating, however the shrimp was a little fishy and the lobster was chewy.

Viterro ala sorrentino – 3  1/2 stars – i rather have the two dishes above. My sauce didn't have any wine taste and it was only chewy veal with melted cheese with two slices of fried potato and vegetables. The tomato sauce was a little too light.

Shrimp scampi – 2 stars – for $27.95,  I was disappointed with this dish because seemed like there was no sauce because if there was sauce, it was very bland with no taste at all.

Service – 3 stars – the first waiter told us the kid's meal was any dish for half, but another waiter said it was only selected dishes, so when i told him otherwise, the first waiter came by and let us choose any dish as a kid's meal.  When they brought the dishes, one of the waiters moved the napkin unto the eaten bread with butter, so they weren't too organized, but were very nice and food came out fast.

  8. My family and I used to go to Il Palazzo in Little Italy each time we were in New York.  Last year, we learned that Il Palazzo had closed.  We searched for a replacement restaurant in Little Italy.  We decided to try Pellegrino's.  The menu looked great.  It turns out that Pellegrino's is actually owned by the same people who owned Il Palazzo!  The food and service are equally excellent.  It has become one of our favorite restaurants in the city!

We always order the Buffalo Mozzarella Caprese salad and Prosciutto wrapped Melon as our appetizers.  They are so good!  We recently tried the Toasted Mozzarella appetizer, which is fresh mozzarella toasted between two pieces of garlic bread- basically the best grilled cheese sandwich you'll ever have!  It comes with a side of their marinara sauce for dipping.

The kitchen is more than happy to accommodate special requests, if you are in the mood for something specific that isn't on the menu.  My mom always requests Eggplant Parm.  They are happy to cook it.  Every single time I go to Pellegrino's, I have to order the delicious Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and broccoli.  It is just amazing!  The noodles are very obviously made in house.  They are light, flavorful and cooked to perfection.

Although we are always full, we somehow save room for dessert.  Our first time there, I ordered the Tiramisu.  It was excellent!  My mom was trying to decide between cheesecake and Pana Cotta.  The server left and returned with both, compliments of the owner.  It was such a sweet and unnecessary thing to do.

The restaurant's atmosphere is ideal for a meal in Little Italy.  The decorations are beautiful.  Italian music is playing in the background.  All of the servers treat you like family.  It's just an all around wonderful place!  You truly can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
