  1. Maybe I was expecting something different or more, but it was just about average at best.  I had the Phayul Chicken and found it to only be lightly seasoned, a little soupy and nothing special.  I had the 3 fried pies appetizer (forget the name) and it was meh.  Service was decent and price was reasonable.  Just OK.

  2. In one word: delectable.  This place is authentic as you can see them constructing the momo by hand.  It is a great sight to see the steel wok filled with ingredients as the roaring fire underneath heats it up!  I know this place is in demand.  Every time I visit, Phayul is packed with people from all over NYC sometimes Westchester.  I meet tourists that come into just try their awesome food.  I love this place!   (They also recently renovated it, so it is beautiful with wooden furnishings.)  To be honest, I was hesitant to review it…but what the heck!  Sharing is caring!  🙂

  3. I have eaten at Phayul several times.

It is probably one of the most authentic unique restaurants on Northern Boulevard.  The irony is,   it is lost on the people who live around it, who most likely have no idea how lucky they are to have such a gem in their immediate vicinity.

The tea is very good.  The sushi, a good addition but a sad testament to what this restaurant has to do to compete and stay open in the neighborhood.  I have the Sushi and it is good. Spicy salmon and tuna have a spicy sauce in them.

However, you should be ordering Himalayan food, not sushi.

The momos are good.  If you like spicy, Chicken Manchurians with Gravy is pretty awesome. The Phayul chicken is a good choice for people who don't like spicy food.

The ingredients are fresh and pretty good.

  4. Good prices, plentiful food.  I liked the potato dumpling thing (forgot what it was called). Everything else was standard.
