  1. Torn between 2 or 3 stars but for the large portions, low price and friendly service I will up to 3.

Rotis. chicken is okay…No spectacular flavor or tenderness as others.
Rice is your standard, almost instant type tasting blah white rice.
The lo mein type dish with beef-  skip!! Thin strips of beef were entirely dried out.
Shrimp with garlic sauce was okay – way too much cream in the sauce for me but good strong garlic flavor.
The green sauce- I've had much better..this one is too hot for my taste.
The place is packed on Sundays.
The best part?   The soft rolls and the fresh pineapple juice!

  2. I've come here twice, and it is definitely a local fave.

Great deal for the prices–dinner and drinks for under $20. They serve wine and beer here, but I'm not sure about other bar drinks.

Lomo dish is served in a delicious gravy over french fries and rice…super filling and hearty. My friend ordered the ceviche though and couldn't convince any of us to have any though.

  3. Clam soup looked great, with whole clams, including shells. The broth had a nice tomato taste but it needed more elements, as it was almost entirely liquid other than the clams.

The chicken had excellent skin and a juicy interior, and the fiery green sauce could inspire some devotees to drink it straight from the bottle. A glass of chicha morada was a fine way to lower the heat. The salad was almost entirely dreary iceberg but I liked the mustard dressing.

  4. Good place.  We wandered in here at 10 PM, when everything else in the area was closed.  Initially, I observed that most of the patrons were (presumably) Peruvian, and that we were the only gringos in the shop.  But if the natives eat there, you know it's authentic enough!

We started with an appetizer of Chorros a la Chalaca (or something like that), which was basically mussels topped with (very spicy) pico de gallo.  They tasted excellent, although I had to eat most of them after my sister and mother wimped out.

For my main course, I had parihuela, which is a seafood soup.  If I had to describe parihuela in ten words or less, I'd say "if it lived in the ocean, it's in there."  It was very flavorful, and at only $7 for the half bowl, was actually quite satisfying.

We finished it off with a delicious piece of flan, which had me running around Mesa trying to satisfy my flan craving after returning home.

  5. I like Misti.  I usually got my favorite, "green spaghetti" (tallarin verde) with chicken instead of steak.  Out would come a GIANT platter of green spaghetti with a basketball-player's-hand-sized piece of breaded chicken on it. Crazy.  I always had enough left for another meal and the prices were pretty cheap, so…. that's a good value as far as I'm concerned.

No, it's not the best Peruvian restaurant around, and probably not even in Port Chester, but it's good.  The atmosphere inside the restaurant is basically nonexistant, aside from some faded pictures of Peru on the walls.

The biggest draw for me and my lunchmates was getting the rotisserie chicken (polla a la brasa!) at lunch.  It was a huge portion and a great deal.

If you are looking for some hearty, big portions of Peruvian food in PC, Misti isn't a bad choice.

  6. It is a great spot for Peruvian food in portchester. I've been having their food since I was a kid. Their pollo and lomo saltado are the best. The food just has excellent flavor. Staff is nice and I came on a Friday evening and they sat me and my girlfriend quickly and it was pretty busy, so they do try to seat you as quickly as possible. They do have take out also so if you don't want to sit then you can take out as well. And the prices are really good too it wasn't that expensive which was great. Overall a great place to come chow down on some great Peruvian food.

  7. This place is excellent.  The pollo a la brasa is delicious and the Aji sauce that goes with it is one of the spicier ones that I've tasted.  We also shared a lomo and some of their sweet plantains.

Great experience over all.  I'd definitely return.  BTW, this is a HUGE restaurant compared to your typical peruvian spot.
