“We love the food from Profit, and though they deliver, neither of us wanted to be "that person" who calls a delivery person out on their bikes to deliver in four degree weather on icy roads.”

  1. Nice weather outside + needing to walk off my cookies from Cookie House yesterday = getting lunch outside

So in walking distance from my work, I wandered into Profit.  My co-worker had mentioned to me a few weeks ago that this place was a popular take out for people in the medical center and having been there herself, said it was fairly decent.  I opted to eat inside and then head to Borders for maybe a new book.

Ordered the lunch special – chicken and broccoli of course, with wonton soup for a whopping $5.50.  The food completely burnt my tongue as the sauce was like molten lava but I still tried to scarf it down because I was starving!  I even had a little surprise – a few strayed string beans here and there.  Portion was really worth it, and I got three wonton in my soup – more than enough I think until I eat later today.

Few wobbly tables to sit at and it's HOT sitting in there – like Hade's armpit.

  2. Excellent Chinese. Generous portions. Fast delivery.

Been using these guys for about a year now. Food has actually gotten increasingly better and portions larger. Which is all great since a special combination platter will last you for dinner a tomorrow's lunch at work.

They once accidentally charged my credit card twice, and I was worried I'd never work it out with them since no one spoke that great of English. A manager though kept in touch with me over the course of a month, and while they couldn't figure it out with their bank, he was very helpful and understanding and said to call my CC company and and if I needed anything from him to get in touch.

  3. I've passed Profit a bunch of times now and just decided to order from there the other night. It was late and I wanted something quick and close to my apartment. I always thought that it looked a little bit gross, but recently I noticed that it was pretty busy inside. I just went with an egg roll and wonton egg drop soup. They both were actually much better than I expected. I wouldn't say it's the best egg roll or soup I've had from a Chinese restaurant, but it's definitely a reasonable and convenient option when I'm in the mood. Really glad I finally gave it a shot and now know a decent place to grab a quick bite right near where I live!

  4. Positively inedible Chinese food.

  5. Came here for lunch on a work week and I have to say their food is pretty good. My co-worker and I had limited time as we needed to get back to the office so it helped that their service was quick.

As for my lunch, I ordered their lunch special of Shrimp with Broccoli and Pork Fried Rice and there wasn't much I could complain about. The sauce was made just right, not too runny or too thick and my veggies and seafood tasted fresh.

They also have seating if you're looking to eat in the restaurant but don't expect the AC as there is none so hense it was pretty hot inside.

Overall, I don't expect much when it comes to Chinese fast food, just like I don't expect much when it comes to my annual raise. However I do expect fresh ingredients and a tasty executed meal. At Profit Chinese, I can say they did all that, sans the jazz.

  6. I agree with Yelp reviewer, Lex T, this is a hood Chinese spot that is always crowded and I still don't know why because the food isn't that great. The wait time for your food during lunch time is ridiculous. I've waited over 30 minutes for some chicken and broccoli with other people coming after me and leaving before me. Staff have never been rude just slow. I will walk a few more blocks for better food and faster service. Just my two cents.

  7. Does the job if you know what I'm saying. Free egg roll wasn't bad. If you need cheap late night food because of work that is still open, go with profit. Pork fried rice was alright. I always order general tso.

  8. Great hunan chicken, case closed.
