  1. There aren't a whole lot of dining options on Roosevelt Island so this place gets 4 stars just for its mere existence!

    The PROS:
-It's conveniently located between the tram and the subway. There is outdoor and indoor seating.
-There are multiple large, clean bathrooms complete with a baby changing table.
-The happy hour is pretty good with cheap beers and wines to enjoy.
-Overall though the food is pretty good and the portions are quite large.
-The service has been outstanding every time I've been here (which has been about 3-4 times now).

The only downside of this place is that the menu is not THAT large.  I have gotten so spoiled living in Manhattan with diners/grills having such huge menus that this place's menu seemed a little small. There are several options but I could see how you could easily get sick of this place if you live on Roosevelt Island and this is the only grill & bar you have to visit.

  2. I came here on a late summer Monday night and this place was packed. Since it was a nice night we waited about 10 mins to sit outside.
I ordered a drink and it was nice and strong which I was happy about. I decided to go with the Cuban burger and I was a happy camper.
My burger was big, juicy and full of flavor.
I really enjoyed my meal and drink, not sure how the rest of the menu is but since in RI the restaurant selection is limited I will be eating here often.

  3. I took my sister to Roosevelt island to take the tram (recommended for tourists and cheap romantic getaways with a swipe of a Metrocard) and we walked into Riverwalk with empty stomachs given it being the only restaurant around.

+ Convenience – Steps away from the F subway station.
+ Food – We ordered sandwiches – classic diner food, not anything to rave about. The sweet potato fries were a hit. I do wish the portions were larger.

    – Service – After eating our meal, the game of 'search for the waitress' ensued for 10 minutes. I was not surprised. Riverwalk Bar & Grill is a monopoly on Roosevelt Island.

  4. It was a beautiful summer day and a perfect time to take the tram to Roosevelt island to see the preparation for the Fourth of July fireworks. Stopped at this little place as it was close to the tram and we needed to "hydrate" in order to prep ourselves for the half mile hike. Phew, it was exhausting. The restaurant had some nice outdoor seating, but since it was so hot, we opted to sit at the bar to make sure refreshments were close at hand. All the staff were decked out in patriotic themed clothes and did not hesitate to start giving us lip the minute they realized we were playazz. They were hilarious. The gal behind the bar was a masterful mixologist and had a great command of the limited menu.

Sat next to a couple who had lived there for 23 years and besides the fact that I think they held office hours at the two barstools they occupied, they were a fount of knowledge on all things island. It was like getting a private tour of the place just sitting and watching the sports vision on the big TV.  Hilarious and educational.

I had the cheeseburger and my buddy had the fish and chips. The burger was huge!  I literally ate only about a third of it, and they had, as I recall, 4 different types of fries as options. The fish and chips was also super tasty and well fried. I think the most interesting thing about this place was that it was so unexpected. The books all caution that the accommodations on the island were sparse, but we found that the opposite was true. We had a blast, the food was great and the staff was awesome. All-in-all a delightful dining experience for an afternoon on Roosevelt island. Oh, and stop by the visitor center. The lady that inhabits that place is gut-busting hilarious if you start chatting her up. She had us in stitches. Check it out.

  5. I come here for the experience more than the food/drinks, usually after a night of kickball at the nearby field.  It is a little hard to get to, being on Roosevelt island, but I was additionally excited for an excuse to ride the Tram. They had tables with people playing flipcup–a fun way to extend the team-bonding night! The drink specials were great and the bartenders and waitstaff were super fun and friendly.  We all loved the music and sang along, probably amusing to the staff.  I think the guy who owns the place also works as a bartender, and he was truly awesome!

  6. This great gem on Roosevelt Island is a short walk from the tram. The service is prompt and friendly and the food is great. We were walking around so we just had some appetizers and drinks.

Shepherd's Pie Dumplings were AMAZING. I love shepherd's pie! Who knew I could have it in delicious bite-sized pieces??? Delish! The BEST part of the meal.

Chicken fingers were a good size and portion, nicely seasoned and crisp on the outside, tender on the inside. You can have your choice of dips or have them tossed in sauce.

Onion rings were great as well. Huge serving.

Drinks….omg the long island iced tea was pretty in pink and packed a crazy powerful punch. $12 but worth every penny.

Next time I'm on Roosevelt Island I'm heading here!

  7. This place is alright. Have dined here several times and have thought the food to be mediocre at best. Typical diner fare. Weekend brunch ends at noon.. most folks I know don't go for brunch till 12 or 1pm.. irks me. The service is absolutely horrendous. The servers clearly would rather be somewhere else. This place gets packed with Zog sports teams and if they are there you will be ignored. The bathroom could be cleaner. This place really deserves 2 stars but giving it 3 cause it exists…  There's a serious lack of dining options on Roosevelt Island.

  8. First time to Roosevelt island. Played flag football with ZogSports. They had an event post game with drink specials.
2 for 1 pitchers of bud light, Awesome!
The bar had wings on sale for 50 cents!! I love me some wings, couldn't pass that up. I tried the mild and bbq, cooked to perfection (for a bar anyway).
    Music was decent
They had 2 tables for beer ping, but we stole one to play flip cup.
Had a lot of fun meeting my new teammates
