  1. I love bakeries like this. Had black forest cake and it was delicious.
The main counter girl is friendly and attentive. There is one counter girl who will just stare and not say anything if you ask a question. Kind of odd but won't deter me from future cake runs
Nice to work as they got wifi. And the place is clean.

  2. I really never heard of Rudy's until I saw an episode of Unique Sweets on the Cooking Channel about Queens and after watching I knew I had to visit Rudy's.

Walking into Rudy's was an experience.  You walk in and prominently displayed are large display counters of scrumptious looking pastries of all kinds (don't overlook those amazing chocolate covered items as well!).

At the rear of Rudy's is an intimate café area with (if I recall) seating for about 20 people comprised of some high chairs and tables and some couch/sofa seating.

I zeroed in on the display counter boasting various single serving cake slices and the Chocolate Fudge Layer Cake quickly mesmerized me.

The Chocolate Fudge Layer Cake was totally scrumptious; multiple layers of soft fudgy chocolate cake coupled with smooth silken buttercream really was decadent.

This was especially true when coupled with a cup of Rudy's hazelnut coffee, which was very good too!

I could not resist the cornucopia of delicious looking pastries behind the display case, so I had to get some pastries to bring home.

Slowly surveying the plethora of awesomeness, I contained myself to just four items:

    – Apricot Hamentashen: The Hamentashen's at Rudy's are so beautifully made; almost perfect triangles of pastry perfection pocketing the fruit jam.  It was a nice crispy texture and the apricot jam was so fruity that I wish they sold it separately.

    – Oatmeal Cranberry cookie: Big cookie!  This behemoth was so tasty.  Nice texture from the oatmeal and just enough sweetness & tartness from the cranberries.

    – Rainbow Cookies: This one I bought for my big sister who is a huge fan of this cookie.  Honestly, I was never a fan of this cookie, but Rudy's variant were pretty good.  My sister liked them as well.

    – Carrot Cake: This stole the blue ribbon as it was awesome.  A really noticeable carrot flavor was present in every bite, no overpowering frosting, moist PERFECT cake texture, cinnamon, and vanilla bean shone through too…..I want one for my Birthday!

Atmosphere and service were spot on for a place like Rudy's; friendly and very homey feeling.

Had a nice conversation with one of the partners (Toni) who was super nice and patient while I made my selections.

  3. This place has been here for what feels like forever! I believe it was originally owned by Germans and have been creating delicious German desserts ever since. When you go into this bakery you feel like you've entered a part of old Germany. The desserts are amazing! Perfect for birthday cakes, and pastries for all occasions!

  4. Nice old school bakery w many original pieces. Tried the guava stick, blueberry crumble pastry, peanut butter heaven and marzipan stick. All unique tasty treats.

  5. You can't go wrong with anything that you get here.

    Great coffee
    Great cakes
    Great pastries
    Great service

Located just a few blocks from work, I tend to come here when I want a strong cup of cappuccino. Other times the co-workers and I come to get cakes and pastries for someone's birthday in the office.  Rudy's never disappoints and it doesn't matter what you get, everything is to die for.  When you come in you are always welcomed and greeted with a friendly smile and courteous service.  The owner knows all of us at the work place and even when she's busy she makes time for all of us.  I've never have sat down in their back area but I will one day when we have more time to enjoy a baked good and their strong cappuccinos.

  6. A friend brought me a Crumb Cheese Turnover.

The size of the item is huge. There is a yummy white glaze and a crumble topping. The pastry itself is light and delicate while the cheese center is decadent.

Great experience and I hear their Linzer Turnovers are great!

  7. can't really write a heart filled review as I was literally in and out.

my boyfriend use to live down the street and ranted about their coffee so we stopped off to get one and I got a chocolate mousse cake to go.

it wasn't what I was expecting – I thought it would be more light and rich – however I found it to be more stale – like it had been sitting there for a few days.

coffee – he swears by it, I thought it was nothing special.

  8. Hungout with the owners of Rudy's and it was an excellent time. So accommodating to my Sailor friends and I. This place has been in business for over 80 years and is one of the older bakeries in New York.

I had a cheese Danish with a coffee, then hazelnut gelato for dessert. SO GOOD.

Best customer service and hospitality. I hope to come back one day just to visit this place. Presentation and quality of the food is wonderful. Everything looks like it was just baked this morning.

    Thank you guys so much!
