Rue 57

“Cute French bistro, close by Central Park, with a terrific menu of appetizers and main courses.”

“I usually don't go for sweet brunch options, but I couldn't resist their french toast with strawberries and mascarpone cheese.”

“I have loved this restaurant for years, despite its location near the park and its propensity to attract tourists, I still feel like it's a great neighborhood eatery.”

  1. Had a nice Sunday brunch here. The place was packed around 1pm but we were seated without a wait. The seating was cramped, which definitely affected my experience. It took a half hour to get a high chair and the waiter took his time refilling our water glasses. On the plus side- The food was pretty good and the Bloody Mary was very good. I had the omelette Lyon from the brunch menu and my boyfriend had the lobster hash. I liked his better but was happy with my choice too. His could have used more lobster and mine more Brie and sausage.

  2. My hope in humanity has been restored. Finally some good meatloaf.

Kobe Beef Meatloaf – The epitome of perfection. The meatloaf was moist and rested on a bed of nicely whipped sour cream potatoes. The highlight was the chipotle-brown sugar jus, which was sweet and tangy (reminded me of homemade barbecue sauce), and brought the dish together nicely.

I ordered for delivery, and it came in 60 minutes. Definitely worth the wait, and it was still warm!

  3. Arrived in Late in New York looking for a feed. This place was open. Nothing great, nothing terrible…

Had the pasta primavera which again was just ok.

    At least it's open late.

  4. Very good!  Almost 5 stars.  Brunched with five others.  Generous portion sizes.  Great food quality, on the options I saw / sampled.  Crazy busy, but great service staff.  Did I mention crazy busy?  Cozy, but didn't feel cramped.  Also, didn't feel like we were sitting there with a ton of other people.  Nice use of space.

This is definitely on the list for future visits.

  5. This place felt very "let's get some dinner after work." Kind of a convenient location, caters to different paletes, and easy to get a reservation. Good for a group who want the ambiance to feel more upscale casual. The food is very average, they have a decently varied drink menu and dessert (chocolate souffle) was pretty good. Otherwise nothing to write home about.

  6. This place is French but Asian and a wine bar? Well rock on Rue 57!

We came here for drinks while waiting for everyone to show for our dinner reservation. This restaurant has been here, it seems for decades. During the summer it's usually packed and they have tables outside for springtime in NYC experience. Inside is decorated like a true French Brasserie with tin ceilings and richly colored walls.

We sit in this lavash looking booth by the bar and order drinks. There is a substantial wine & beer list, I'm very impressed with both service and the offerings.

If you're looking to score a table here for pre theatre or after theatre drinks, Rue 57 is a fun looking and popular spot.

  7. Cute French bistro, close by Central Park, with a terrific menu of appetizers and main courses.
I love their boot seatings, and the overall atmosphere.
Food is always delicious. Recently I felt in love with the chicken meatballs. Amazing!
Remember to call and reserve a table because it's often busy, and you might have to wait.

  8. This place is always overly crowded and obnoxiously loud however the food is really good! I started with the spicy tuna fried shrimp it was so decadently good!!! I then had the shrimp risotto which was really good too! My husband has the meatloaf which he really enjoyed, other people in our party had the roast chicken which they stated was one of the best they'd ever had. The finch fries were perfectly crisped and tasty.  For dessert we indulged some more and got fried Oreos which were amazing and not to be missed! Great food, ambiance a bit too loud and crazy for my taste.
