  1. This place is perfect for a 3rd or 4th date, or an outing with a good fried that's a foodie! If you're down for a new drink experience, this is the place!

Food: small portions! Don't expect to come here to get your stomach full, but rather, it's for a taste-bud experience.

Started out with the egg on egg on egg option, intended for two, which you eat with a wooden spoon. It includes sea urchin, sturgeon caviar, scrambled egg!

Beef tartare: comes with a bone marrow on the side! Deliciously fatty and tasty. The Fluke Ceviche was one of my favorite items, followed by the mazemen which did a good job of filling us up. Black Bass: worth trying, if you're in the mood for it, but it wasn't my favorite option. We also got a spicy tuna role (4 pieces)

Drinks: the most exotic-looking drink is named "Smoke" and has a superbly aromatic flavor and optically pleasing effects. If you're into strong drinks, this one is a good option! We absolutely loved the Lychee Martini, as well as the Shiso vesper drink. During dessert, we had the Yuzu Omoi drink!

Dessert: we couldn't decide between the yogurt option, or the black sesame creme brule so we got both! Still can't decide which one is better!

Service: prompt and good. Reservations are good

All in all- nice place to explore food tastings!

  2. Love! It's actually much less busy than I thought during wk nights. Everything was amazing! (See pic). I like Uni but the egg on egg on egg is not my fav tbh. But it's a dish you HAVE TO order lol..

  3. Came here for dinner midweek. Place was kind of empty and lacking in ambiance but still had a nice time and enjoyed some good food with our friends. We ordered some sake and shared some of the following foods:
    – shishito peppers some of the best I've ever had
    – egg on egg on egg surprisingly good (how can you go wrong with caviar and eggs)
    – southern fried chicken was very tasty
    – duck duo good but slightly overcooked
    – noodle dish with uni good but uni was too overpowering
    – sushi roll with raw beef did not love the raw beef combo

  4. Ramen, uni, and bone marrow are three of my favorite things. SakaMai had the audacity to combine these bold flavors into one dish and it worked exceptionally well. I applaud thee, SakaMai.

Uni Mazemen – $22 temomi ramen noodle, sea urchin, roasted bone marrow, bottarga (salted fish roe), menma

Dimly lit interior. Chill vibe. Quiet enough for conversation.

    Four stars.

  5. Another fushion type place, the menu offers limited choices. We tried the famous egg on egg. The portion is tiny, but pretty good! It's definitely the most popular dish here. We also had rolls, which are not as good as what I had at saikai. The ramen is alright. Anyway, I don't find anything that I want so much except the egg on egg. Generally, it's more of a place for drinks because it's located in lower east side, close by all these fun bars.

  6. Uni is definitely my favorite type of sea creature in the world and any restaurant successfully nailed this dish would definitely be the queen of my heart. The small Izakaya Sakamai located in the middle of Little Italy is one of those places that pocessed this unique capability.

We were seated promptly once arrived; and were informed that the tasting menu was not available…a bit disappointed, we went with a la carte. The single signature dish was – egg on egg on egg, essentially scrambled egg paired with freshly prepared uni, with the caviar topping. Just imagine that piece of uni gradually melted in your mouth, leaving a touch of creamy and slight savory..,hmm yum yum! Another highlight of the night was for sure the duck breast, and the miso sauce only made it more flavorful! Don't forget to end your meal with the renown uni ramen with bone marrow – this dish actually reminded me the uni ramen served at Jun Men ramen bar.

Even after we have concluded our dinner, I have been kept thinking about how delicious that egg on egg on egg course. Make sure, just make sure you secure this dish! I guess I really have to name it as my favorite dish in NYC for now, no exaggeration!

  7. If the prices weren't so steep for such small portions I would come here every day. They have a variety of good food and appetizers here that you don't normally find elsewhere such as bone marrow where they give you the actual bone you scrape off the goody and mix it into your food… The Uni crostini and the croquet are my favorite appetizers, I found the egg on egg on egg okay but i liked the other two more and the service is wonderful at the bar area which I actually prefer all the waiters are so nice! One waiter has such good posture it motivated me to sit up straight just watching him! LOL, anyways I highly recommend this place they have a really delicious yuzu wine that I drank.. Loved it! Good food, great service.. I will definitely be back!

  8. I am so happy to see there are more bar/lounge place that are opening up for weekend brunch! They didn't really look nothing much from the outside, but inside was so elegant and sleek, I was pleasantly surprised. They have a beautiful bar with hanging shelves, with industrial looking wall behind it, covered with what looks like aluminum or sheet metal of some sort.  They have handful of table seating across from the bar, filled with natural lights from the large windows. The restaurant actually is much larger, it goes long way back.

We ordered couple of cocktails to go with our food, and they were really great! High quality drinks that were super tasty. The food was also great, we loved every bite. It was better than I expected, which is always a big plus.

The service was great, our server was really nice, polite and warm, and the bartender actually helped out a lot with the service as well, such as refilling the water and what not. We were there when it was not so busy, but with the server and bartender, we were well taken care of. They were both very efficient, this place had quality in food, drink, and service. I would love to go back again for more of their delicious food and cocktails, I am sure it will another delightful visit!
