“the COMPLETO is a must, the 3 different steak sandwiches we tried are musts, the 50thousand different desserts i've sampled are all musts.”

“I love the Chilean-style alfajores (with a flat, more cracker-like cookie sandwiching the dulce de leche).”

“Each one of them is a meal, and made just as well here as any that I had in Santiago.”

  1. Their baked bread is amazing. They have a lovely sectional of baked sweets such as cakes, pies, tarts, and Chilean specialty goods that I can not recognize 🙂

Of course they also have their savory section including their famous "Completo" Hot Dog that you have to try- best hot dog in Astoria. Built with their freshly baked bread, juicy sausage, and topped with rainbow of flavors.

The owner is very friendly and hope to try more of their goods on next visit.

  2. Now while others here have discovered "The Completo" Chilean style hot dog and have based their rating entirely on that one item, my five stars is based on my overall experience including their baked goods and atmosphere.

For those who don't live in Astoria but want to try this coveted dog, San Antonio Bakery 2 is conveniently located just 6 blocks from the Astoria Blvd station.

The staff who work this place are jovial and lighthearted and serve up the hot dog fresh and toasty with just the perfect amount of avocado, mayo, tomato, onions and salsa for it to be just messy enough without spilling all over you.

It's damned delicious and who am I kidding? I can totally get the "This dog is so damned good, it's an automatic 5 stars for this place".

The place has ample seating and a TV that seems stereotypically always set to futbol tv.

Baked goods are fresh and tasty with the workers more than happy to answer all your questions and explaining in taste bud enticing detail.

  3. I had walked by here many times and always wondered how it was.  The other day I decided to give it a try.  I had read about the completo, so that was a must and I was not disappointed.  The fresh avocado  on top really makes this.  Also, I would recommend adding some of the fresh hot sauce.  In addition to the completo I had an empanada, which was also delicious.  I would add the hot sauce to that as well.  I would actually probably add the hot sauce to everything, but that's me.  I finished it off with a bun filled some sort of custard.  This was good, but I wish it had a bit more custard in it.  Overall this was a good lunch trip.  I will be going back to try some of their sandwiches.  You should too.

  4. Not as great as I was hoping it would be, though still pretty good, especially considering the prices.

Their beef & chicken empanadas are very filling, and make for a really nice meal on the go.  The cheese one?  Meh.

Don't get the hype over that overloaded hotdog.  The bun was a bit stale…and the contrast of the mayo and guac being so cold didn't fly with me.

Their beef sandwich was fine….chewy….but fine.

The ribs were also fine.  They give tons of mash.  The ribs are served in one big ole honkin' chunk of meat: Fred Flintstone style.  Nothing special with the seasoning or preparation, and not fall apart.  But a-okay.

Not in a rush to order again….but recommend giving them a shot to see if you like, and can help a nice local business stay afloat.

  5. Looks like any old bakery when you walk past it…little does everyone know that a very special hotdog awaits inside. It comes on a roll made in-house at the bakery and is topped with avocado, tomatoes and mayonnaise; it is absolutely delicious.
