Shiki Wok

“This was a very big deal to me as the usual case at most takeout/delivery places is that the veggies are mushy and soggy and I am recently eating vegetarian.”

“Two thumbs up for always delivering prompt service with a smile!”

  1. You won't get sick, but you won't really be craving this either.  I have a problem with places that try to do both Sushi and Chinese food.  Most of the time, both cuisines are done poorly, and that's the case here.  Just pick one and do it well.  Doing both below average is just a poor decision.
With so many better places for either cuisine so readily available locally, I'm surprised this place is still in business.  I guess it exists for families or friends who just can't decide and are too lazy to order from two places.

  2. A small tip to always pay attention to: do not EVER order shrimp from here on a Monday, unless you'd like to lose a few pounds by means of food poisoning. Ordered on a Monday the usual – veg with rice & mom got shrimp lo mein.

Several hours later and several pounds lost from several trips to the bathroom to vomit, my mother swore off their food, and shrimp for a while. I can't say I blame her.  Apparently some major changes happened during the course of this year and their food quality has gone extremely down hill.

They are no longer the same Shiki Wok I talked about all the time due to their greatness, now they are the one Shiki Wok that i warn everyone about.  Stay away.

  3. I recently saw this neighborhood restaurant featured on the Cooking Channel's"Restaurant Redemption" show. I was surprised at the conditions in the restaurant and how the kitchen was kept. After seeing the transformation on the show, I decided to give this place a try. I ordered online and crossed my fingers hoping for the best (as takeout goes). I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered several items and all were very good. I won't comment on a specific dish, but the vegetables were all crispy and fresh. This was a very big deal to me as the usual case at most takeout/delivery places is that the veggies are mushy and soggy and I am recently eating vegetarian. There was not too much oil or salt. Also a big plus. My bf said the shrimp in his dishes were "very good." I didnt see anything about "bao" on the menu (the show had the restaurant eliminate the sushi bar and replace it with a bao bar). Sushi was also back on the menu. I did not try the sushi and probably wouldnt. Overall a good experience. I dont normally order Chinese Takeout, but if I did, I would not mind ordering from here at all.
