We were big fans of Thai Cranford which was formally in this space, so we were excited to see if Siam Inn was just as good. We've ordered from them twice and it looks like this will now be our go-to Thai restaurant.
To start we've gotten the spring rolls and edamame. I do wish the spring rolls were cooked a bit more so they were crispier, but they taste good otherwise. Plus they give you 6 (Thai Cranford always gave an odd number so we had to fight over the last one).
For entrees we've gotten the Sweet and Sour, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Ginger entrees. My husband's only complaint about the Sweet and Sour was that it had a lot of peppers, but I'm sure they could sub in another vegetable if you asked. I really liked the Ginger entree I got, especially since I asked them to make it a little spicy and it didn't disappoint. So far my husband's favorite dish is the Pineapple Fried Rice. He's picky about his fried rice so that's a definite compliment. Very happy that we now have another great Thai place in Cranford.
I've been waiting for this restaurant to open back up again for a while, and finally last week, i checked on yelp, and saw a few reviews. Walked over, and placed an order. Staff was friendly, and helped me very quickly.
I ordered some take out, and got the chicken with ginger. The lunch special came with either a salad, spring rolls or dumplings. I chose the spring rolls.
Spring rolls came three to the order, and were nice and crispy, and had a decent flavor. The sauce with them was a little sweet for my taste, and i would have liked a little more kick to it.
The Ginger Chicken was great. I had the brown rice with it… and also asked for it to be spicy. It did not disappoint. Man, was it spicy, but in an enjoyable way. flavor was great, and food tasted fresh.
this is definitely going to be on my office lunch rotation!
Having been a fan of the formerly known as Thai Cranford, we crossed our fingers that Siam Inn was just as good. Having ordered once I think I've found our got-to Thai in town. We tried 2 soups, the Tom Yum and Tom Kha, and the Tom Yum was delicious; has a nice heat to it and distinct lemongrass flavor the broth is awesome! I'll definitely be ordering more as soon as ol' man winter comes knocking on the door. The wife loves cocunut broths and the Tom Kha hit the spot!
For entree I had shrimp red curry and I must say the red curry broth was so flavorful I can't wait to have it again. The wife had beef drunken noodles which was equally as good and a nice portion! Can't wait to have more red curry.. mmmmmm so good.
