  1. This adorable bar is one of the best deals in the area. Definitely worth the trip.
Technically they are trying to be a sports bar but they are so much more. It's your brunch spot, dinner spot, happy hour spot. The staff is always great.

I'm wondering if their basement is going to open for service, looks like there's room for growth.

  2. Edit: 500th Review!!

I've been to Solace a couple of times; once during the middle of the day and the other in the evening. Both times left much to be desired – not sure what the rave reviews are all about.

The first time, we were probably the first to walk into the restaurant. We had some lobster Benedict, which was decent, and a couple of drinks. The service was spotty and chatty among   themselves. For a gastropub, there was absolutely no attention given to the beer menu by the staff which was disappointing. Half way through the meal, someone decided it was time to blast the music. It was just us and the sun was still out. Really?

The second time was in the evening so the music was already blasting. Fine. My partner got there before me and placed his order. By the time I got there, he only had a beer in hand. The server was here and there but never came by to greet me or check in. It must have been 20 minutes before a busser came and offered me a glass of water. Thanks.

Finally, the waiter appeared. I asked for the draft menu, because you know, it's a gastropub and all. He had to return to the bar to get a list of six or seven beers for me; and they were beers I could find at the local Key Food. Seriously? Lagunitas, Blue Moon, and Coors Light is what you have to offer me? (Anchor is right down the street and they have quadruple the amount of beer Solace has, and they're a wine bar!) The food that my partner ordered arrived another 15-20 minutes later (about an hour in) with no apologies. Seriously, it was an order of mac and cheese. We were so over it by then we just asked for it to go.

    Nope.

  3. The food was good and the ambiance was nice until the server ignored us later in the evening and we felt forced out.  The fries have some spice to them, reminding me of how people I knew in NC who like their fries a little hotter have them.  My date and I were a bit irked by that but they seem like a decent neighborhood place; just don't violate the basics of not even asking if someone wants dessert & taking so long to bring the check your customers are thinking they could dine & dash with no trouble at all.

  4. Came here on a Saturday night around 6 PM and it was pretty dead, but I really liked the intimacy of the place it would be perfect for a date night. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and a hookah which is 25$ and you have to pay cash for it. Our drinks were strong and reasonably priced. We ordered the regular mac and cheese with a side of mashed potatoes because we obviously needed our carbs that day. The mac and cheese was soooo good! Perfect amount and cheese and lightly coated with breadcrumbs. The mashed potatoes were delicious also nice and garlicky but not over powering. There is music playing in the background and after 10 or so they start to play more club type music and the place fills up. When we left around 12 the restaurant was full. I also saw someone who appeared to be a manager going around and introducing himself to customers and making sure they had everything they needed. He also gave free shots to people who were first time patrons. Overall I had a great time and it's a nice spot if you live in the area – kind of a far drive from the bustling Manhattan, but still fun! If you're ever in the area give this place a try!

  5. Admittedly, we tried a number of appetizers and some of thé happy hour drink specials. Spent about 3-4 hrs here for thé Jets game and in that time went through two different happy hours. Score!!

The spicy shrimp were ok. Nice sized jumbo shrimp but thé spicy was your run of thé mill vinegary hot sauce. I would not order again. Also, had thé wings which were décent but I could not understand why thé meat was literally falling off thé bone. Taste was ok but I like to bite my wings not have them melt in my mouth. Had thé banana chips with guac and that was spot on and I would recommend for sure.

The best drink of thé night was thé ugly bastard. This ugly bastard was composéd of whiskey, sour mix, tequila and pomegranate juice. Maybe I got thé ingrédients wrong but thé drink was amazing. Took thé Sting out of that Jets loss for sure.

Bathrooms were clean but could use more lighting. Overall thé place could use more lighting. If we were sitting anywhere else aside from thé bar I dont know how you would be able to see your food. Would définitely go back but be warned this is not a huge place so keep your entourage small.

  6. This is a great place near my hood.  The service is great – friendly, prompt, and accurate.  And the prices are great.

The space is really cool.  Looks a bit rustic and industrial.  They have a lounge space downstairs.

The happy hour deals are great because there have many options for HH drinks and good prices.  We ordered the sliders and artichoke dip.  The sliders were cooked properly medium-well, as I asked.  And they were good because they actually added toppings to the burgers so that it wasn't just a piece of meat between a bun (as many other places do).  The artichoke dip was dangerously addictive.

I'd definitely return here and look forward to it.

  7. This place has such great vibes. I came here with a friend during happy hour and I was very pleased. We were seated and tended to immediately. Our servers were pleasant and our food came at just the right time. All the while, there's laughter all around. The space is on the smaller side, but small in a cozy kind of way that really lends itself to a positive atmosphere.

As far as food goes, I ordered the Chimi burger with taro chips which was delicious, definitely one of the better burgers I've had in NYC. The happy hour tequila sunrise was very good for only $5; it looked small but it was strong and more than fair for the price. I would definitely recommend Solace as a place to kick back and enjoy some good food & drinks with friends.

  8. Have only ordered delivery, but it's quick and consistent every time.  Burgers come perfectly cooked, thick and meaty with fries still crispy !  The boy likes the Caribbean with coleslaw on top, but the regular burger is perfect in itself, with melted cheese and toasted bun.
