  1. I'm not vegan, or vegetarian, and I love my sweets and I was absolutely blown away by how good the stuff here is!  I like the comic book store next door and was curious about what a vegan bakery actually is, so I tried it and now it's my new weekend morning ritual.  Comic books and delicious vegan baked goods, awesome.  I've tried a few things and all were fantastic.  I don't think you can go wrong here.

  2. My friend had to order a cake for a vegan friend for the holidays and we stopped by after we had eaten dinner elsewhere. the space is pleasant, with a few tables and games are available if one comes with children. My friend and I got coffee [we used their almond milk] and my friend got a s'more and i got the orange blossom cookie. It was a pleasant environment, I think we met the owner [Michael Sabet] and it was reasonably priced.

Although i am not a vegan, I would return and would recommend it to vegan friends.

  3. I woke up this morning with one thing on my mind….Sweets!! I wanted something delicious, decadent and vegan that I could indulge in. Cue in my trusty Yelp app and Waahlaah! Sweet to Lick was found. It isn't far from my home and once on the highway I was more than estatic that traffic was little to non existent. 18 mins later, there I was.

The decor at STL was very cute and cozy. There are two display cases, a ton of interesting posters, cool accent pieces along the walls and some exclusive Marvel themed artwork done by local artists. In the back of the shop there are two plush chairs and a bookcase incase you'd like to read and hangout a bit. The spot was chill though and had a laidback vibe which I liked.

I was indecisive about what I wanted but ended up trying a few items that included flavors I knew I would enjoy. One sour cherry almond tart, a ginger ale coffee cake, two bourbon pecan cookies and a chocolate chip cupcake. The cookies were perfection! They tasted fresh, were soft and the bourbon flavor with the pecans was a great combination. I enjoyed the ginger ale cake. That ginger ale flavor was just enough, not overwhelming and the cake was nice and soft, perfect with the crumb topping. My absolute favorite was the sour cherry almond tart OMG it was banging! The tart itself was flaky and buttery, I don't know how they did that (it being Vegan) but I was like in heaven after every single bite. The sour cherry filling was amazing and just enough to leave u wanting for more! I could go for a dozen of those anyday. On the other hand, my least favorite item was the chocolate chip cupcake. It was dry, the frosting tasted pastey, sort of like a big blob of shortening and the cookie on top was stale….disappointing.

I had a pleasant visit and will be back soon to try other pastries.

  4. Everything I've had from here is really good. Vegan can be tough because it could easily be too dry or too oily and these desserts are neither of those.

I do hope the owner hires someone else to do some baking so they can keep the shelves stocked. Nothing makes me sadder than seeing a mostly empty display case, especially when the goods are so…….GOOD!

  5. Mike, the owner and some worker puts his heart and some info his bakery making it amazing

Great food and completely vegan. The daily specials are amazing.
Just ate a vegan raspberry peach turnover. Very flaky, tasty and healthy. The best veGan bakery I've ever been to

Highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a specialized bakery.

  6. Everything about this bakery/cafe has me coming back. First off, this is an all-vegan cafe/bakery. I am not vegan, and I'm not even vegetarian, but, I do love inventive ways people find to create food whether it is around lifestyle choices or allergies. I've so far has coffee, the Hulk Smash sandwich and a blueberry cobbler. Oh and Batarang cookies for Free Comic Book Day (which is the first time I went there)

So far, everything is going for this little gem. From the kitschy/nerdy decor, to the free Wifi and oh yeah, BOOK corner, which has comic books, graphic novels and regular reading books that you can peruse when chowing down, is wonderful.

This place churns out good food, and even more beneficial, is it's made by good people. They support local art shows and animal shelters and other charity events.

In a universe so propelled by chains and franchises, we need more places like this that challenge the status quo and shake it down with delicious food, a great vibe and an overall positive feeling.

  7. Hipster heaven you feel like you stumbled into a cafe in SanFran or Seattle. But with vegan menu!?! Love the decor, the details, the free wifi and loungy seating that says: stay and chat.
The baked goods are amazing and accessibly priced.
I will be back again and again when I need a carbival!
    Attended by the owner!

  8. Summary:
Found this place via yelp.  Walked in, ordered, realized i forgot my wallet in the car, went back. upon returning noticed the big "VEGAN" sign on the glass and got really, really worried.  Needless worry, it turns out, place is fantastic.

    Overall: 4 stars
Food: 4 stars (limited review, cause I only had one thing, but everything looked great)
    Service: 5 stars
    Atmosphere: 5 stars
    Value: 5 stars
    Will I be back?  Absolutely!

First off, the food: it's only 4 stars not because of anything wrong, but because I didn't try much, except a whoopee chocolate chip cookie concoction.  If everything is like this, then it's easily a 5 star food place.  I'm an unapologetic carnivore and usually would avoid vegan places, but Sweet to Lick was fantastic.  No idea how their baking is this good without butter and eggs, etc.

Service: The service was excellent. Very helpful staff, not just to me, but to others that came in after me with many questions.  Table side service, which was unexpected, so that's a plus.

Atmosphere: well laid out. not too crowded.  Some comfy chairs for reading, and tables for everybody else.  Bonus: free street parking, i.e. no meters.  Also, the barista/counter guy had a fantastic eclectic spotify playlist playing.  (sorry, didn't catch his name).

Value: It was surprisingly reasonable for what I ordered.  I think at starbucks, i'd be paying double.

will I be back?  Absolutely!  The only drawback is that StL is not nut allergy friendly.  I don't expect this from bakeries, so it's not that big a deal.  Just can't take my daughter.  She would have loved it.

(BTW, why am I reviewing so favorably if I only had a limited selection of their menu? I think local places like this need to be highlighted and given greater exposure.)
