  1. Omgosh, I wouldn't have thought a thai restaurant like Thai Passion would be in the most random boro, Chatham.

My boss treated me out for dinner here recently, and I gotta say, one of the best thai places I've gone to ever.

Started off with the typical calamari and crispy spring rolls: perfect. Next, had the Thai Basil.  The Thai Basil was very exotic. I never thought I would have enjoyed vegetables that much!  Honestly, the vegetables made me really full.  Just the mixture and clash of the dish had my mouth hitting the spiciness and the flavor. So good.

Lastly, had the special soufflé that they do here. Pretty exquisite. The texture is unique and awesome.

Probably my favorite part of the night was for the price that my boss paid for, the plating was excellent. Every plate looked carefully put together and oozed love all over it. I would definitely come back here if I am ever in the area again.

  2. Love Thai Passion.  Came here with my husband based on all the helpful Yelp reviews.  We ordered the crispy shrimp spring rolls which were pretty small, but the selling point was the shrimp was hole and fresh as seen in my picture.  The dipping sauce was sweet and complimented very well.  We both NEVER stray from the Chicken Pad Thai which was AMAZING.  Some of the best I have had.  The portions were just right on the Pad Thai.  We both finished our plates.  My husband could have kept going, but he can eat a lot.  I have heard the Drunken Noodles are great which I plan to try on my next visit!

  3. I have been looking for a good Thai place and this fit the bill.  A lot closer to our current place in B'water.  As long as I am in the area this is where I will go.  We had the panang and the pad thai.  Both were delicious.

  4. Thai Passion is a really solid Thai place if you're looking for a nice meal and love in the area. My wife and I are in nearby Summit and decided to bike to Chatham to try this place out for dinner. The reviews were pretty good, so we figured why not? (Also BYOB).

Hands down one of the better Thai places I've been. The staff was extremely friendly to us, sat us quickly, and did everything in a very timely fashion. She took our orders and within 10 minutes, our food started. LETS GET TO IT:

+Appetizer: Shrimp rolls. Delicious, good quality shrimp with a nice, fried exterior paired with a spicy-sweet chili dip. They were toasty and the quality of the shrimp was really good. 6 of them in the order.

+Main: My go-to, Pad Thai. I can't refuse it. Thai Passion did the second best dish of Pad Thai I've had (Spice in Bloomfield/ Thai Essence in Nutley fighting for #1). The sauce was great, scallions and peanuts to top it off. My only negative is the spice level – I wish it were more spicy. They didn't ask, which is fine, but I think any legit Thai place does.

  5. Yay. Back to consistently great food.  We have been here twice since the last review, and both times the food was excellent and service amazing! !!

Tried the lunch special on Friday. Great deal at $8-10 or so for salad and entree. Didn't think that the portion was that much smaller either.

  6. This is a great place! I came here a few weeks ago with my fiancee and a few friends and we had a great time. We had a large group, but they accommodated us nicely and allowed us to get separate checks no problem. The food was cooked very quickly and the service was attentive the entire time. The food was great and I loved my Thai basil chicken and Thai tea (so yummy!). I also tried a friend's drunken noodles and they were delicious as well.

Overall, this is a great place with attentive service and delicious food. I definitely recommend it!

  7. Excellent heat in the dishes marked with a chile pepper on the menu! We enjoyed friendly service and astonishingly reasonable prices considering it's Thai food and in Chatham, a Pad Thai at dinner is only $13. Thai Passion is a small place right on Main St, intimate is the right word. BYO.

On this quiet night we started with a Tom Yum soup, perfect balance of sour and spicy with a couple of shrimp and many fresh mushrooms, excellent, $6. Also tried the fried dumplings, little lumps of chicken in perfectly browned shells, only the sweet plum dipping sauce saved it from being totally bland, skip it at $8.

My spicy seafood fried came with squid rings and shrimp, deeply browned & quite properly spicy rice, excellent at $13! And I didn't even ask for extra heat, just standard. My dining companions went for Pad Thai, traditionally mild with a blend of sweet and sour, the ground peanuts and fresh lime were perfect. Also an order of Se Ew (basically drunken noodles without the heat), I really liked the Chinese broccoli leaves in that, $13 for the shrimp version.

As dessert we tried (after a long wait) the special apple fritters, three rings battered & fried, served in a tiny cast-iron pan and doused table side in a scrumptious vanilla sauce, yummy!

Vegetarian rating: 4 stars for the 6 entrees above and beyond all the veg appetizers and salads, you can go mixed veg, chili tofu or maybe you're brave enough for the mock duck.

This is quite easily the best taste-price balance I've found for Thai food in the Morristown, Madison, Chatham area.

  8. Our go to Thai place right next to Florham Park. The only 2 things I need to order from here is the Pad Thai & Drunken Noodles. Both are excellent. And just to top off the meal some Thai Iced Tea will do the trick.

The staff is nice, we usually get takeout but the inside is a little dark and quiet, what you would expect any rest in Madison to be pretty much.

Will continue to keep going here. Highly recommended!
