  1. You know what the best part of a $12 cocktail is….. When it's worth $12.
Had some drinks at the bar, great staff…great effing cocktails.
Wasn't so sure about this place, but boy was I proved wrong.
Can't wait to try dinner here

  2. Yes yes yes. Everything about this place.

Was a bit skeptical when we walked in, setup is a bit weird but we sat in the window and it was a beautiful night.

Service here is amazing, our guy really guided us through the drinks and food helped us pick out some things.
    Everyone here is very friendly.

Absolutely loved all the food, Mac and cheese is amazing, had Korean inspired beef tacos, yas. And the cauliflower was delicious, jalapeño sauce on the side it the best part we were dipping everything in it.

We also got the fried mozzarella, I would skip this and order something else, it was good but everything else was so amazing it kind of got lost.

Drinks are good, lots of fancy ingredients  and as you would expect lots of dark spirit drinks for the hipsters to wrap their beards around.

Would love to go back and try more food.

  3. My favorite new bar in town. I've stopped by the place on multiple occasions, the last enjoying a meal with my drinks.

The Pomeroy has great prices for cocktails, slightly less than the usual $15 range. I typically go with an Old Fashioned which is the best I've ever had, from anywhere (go with the bourbon version). Also, have my man Andy make it for you. Another great cocktail is the Ditmars Blvd.

In terms of food, the wings are solid and the baked little neck clams (which was a daily special) was pretty on point. Here's to hoping it gets added to their everyday menu!

Overall, The Pomeroy offers a hip vibe with hospitality of a local bar. I've never really seen it crowded and Andy always seems to remember me even though I stop in with weeks in between. They are already my go-to bar for friends from out of town.

  4. Well the hype is real.. Came for dinner and was blown away by the quality of the ingredients used.. We got the arancini rice balls and short rib tacos to start.. The short rib tacos were on the specials menu so not sure how long they will be sticking around, but I would recommend trying them.. Both were so tasty and did not make you feel like a blowfish.. Which was surprising since rice balls will usually do that to you.. As an entree I got the burger with the additional bacon and cheese.. They have three cheese options: american, gruyere and cheddar.. The burger was phenomenal.. So tender that my teeth had no clue they were cutting through meat.. For dessert we had the bread pudding and it was delectable.. Great atmosphere and great service topped it all off

  5. The drinks are delicious and the food I had was great, too. My friends are friendly with the bartenders and it just had a really neighborhoody vibe and I felt welcome and like I belonged. Yay!

The pomegranate martini was awesome and not too fruity. The short rib tacos were the best I've had (and I've weirdly had a lot of short rib tacos). The market salad with poached pears was perfect. The meatballs were a little small, but the was the only negative really. The seasonal toast was large and good tasting, and the fried pickles were a huge portion. The cauliflower was seasoned right, with a nice sauce to pair with. I loved it here!

  6. P-P-P-Pomeroy, P-P-P-Pomeroy…

This is the spot where Lady Gaga's chef and longtime friend recently opened and with that consideration aside, it is actually quite a nice addition the neighborhood. The restaurant is in an open sizable space and yet feels warm and cozy with the bookshelf/wooden detailing on the walls.

We purposely waited until the hype died down and the restaurant was able to iron out some of the opening kinks to give it a fair shot. First, I love that this is over on the Ditmars side of Astoria. We have a few places like this but some more options are welcomed.

The staff was very friendly and fully explained the specials for the night and was very helpful. The drinks were well made and priced comparable to the other neighborhood spots. We shared the 1/2 Bird ($16) which consisted of 5 pieces all seasoned well and nicely fried. It came with two sauces, a delicious mild jalapeno-cilantro dip and a sweet honey carrot dip. We also had the Mac + Cheese ($15) appetizer which came in a fair sized dish much more filling that we thought. The shell pasta used was great because it held the yummy cheese with each bite. We had a side of fries which seemed a bit small for $5 but was crispy and a good add-on to our meal.

Some of the items on the menu are a great deal but some of the pricier large plates seemed small in portion size when some of the people around us ordered them so be careful of that when ordering. Overall: the Small Plates tend to be a good size, Large Plates not so much, Chicken Fried is a good deal, and the Veggie + Potatoes sides are a bit small.

The Pomeroy does feel like a neighborhood joint and has a nice warm touch. The service is friendly and expedient without feeling rushed. The food and drinks are delicious. Being in the neighborhood, I'll be coming back soon.

  7. Finally got to try this place after hearing about it so much. The decor and vibe of this place is awesome. I got the rice balls and short rib tacos.. The short rib tacos were so good that I didn't even want to share them lol. For entree I got the skirt steak with fingerling potatoes and broccoli rabe. The steak was so tender and light.. it was perfect. The fingerling potatoes and broccoli rabe were great.

  8. This place is great.  The only reason I will not give this place 5 stars is because the drinks are pretty weak.  My fiance and I went here on a Friday night a few weeks ago.  I can't remember what she had, but I had the pomeroy old fashioned.  It was good, but was not strong enough, which was incredibly disappointing, especially after a long week at work.

For starters, we split the avocado toast, which was delicious and a great way to start off our meal.  For our entrees, we split the mac and cheese appetizer and the red wine & chipotle braised short ribs.  The mac and cheese was delicious and we inhaled it in about 5 minutes.

The short ribs on the other hand, were good, but we both were not impressed with the cauliflower reduction/sauce, or whatever you want to call it that was served with the meat.  It almost reminded me of mayonnaise and I couldn't even eat it.  My fiance wouldn't touch it.  The owners may want to change the sides that are served with the short ribs as they are ruining an otherwise perfectly good entree with this cauliflower concoction.

Overall, we enjoyed our meal and liked the place.  Would recommend.
