Tina's Place is a Bushwick staple. I've been coming here since before Bushwick became a thing – back when no one wanted to come near "that deserted part of Bushwick near the dangerous looking Morgan stop on the L train". Back when the main clientele were workers from Boars Head or the old geezers from the area.
I digress.
I used to order breakfast from here every single day. Tina is a nice lady but very firm when she needs to be, especially when her main customers were men. She seems like a hard working woman and I'm glad to see business has gotten better for this place!
Solid diner food, great prices, quick delivery.
So
Slow like
Molasses
Slow but they are
Always open and keep the prices cheap.
Omelettes, pancakes, burgers, fries,
French toast, pasta, spinach pies.
It's really just a standard diner,
Food was average, could be finer.
It wasn't the nicest interior,
And the food quality wasn't superior,
But the food's SO cheap, you see,
And the staff were just nice as can be.
It's probably not worth a special trip,
But if you're in Bushwick don't give it the slip.
Woke up hungry and ready to start the day. Been to Life Cafe a few times so we needed an alternative. Looked up breakfast spots within a few blocks and read that this had breakfast plates for $5 and under. Place was half packed with hipsters and minorities. Typical diner interior. Family oriented. The grandma was our server and the 12yr old grandson was the busboy. Food was average and filling. Not bad at all. Great place to go if you're too lazy to cook your own bacon, eggs, and potatoes.
I wish that I got to go here when this place opens at 3:30 am. Instead, I made my way out here on their "closing shift" at 3:00 pm. It was definitely a diner made for the night owls and for the people coming back from a long night of partying, hence the various medications like Advil up for sale behind the counter.
Tina's has your standard diner fare at low prices, but it's not something I'd write home about. I was very satisfied with my burger meal: $5.00 gets you a large homemade burger with a heaping serving of french fries that really hit the spot.
I would come back if I returned to the Bushwick neighborhood. You can't really go wrong with local, greasy diner food that's open at all hours of the night, can you?
