  1. We came in for lunch based on the favorable Yelp reviews. Definitely a good choice. The reviews were right on point. We started with the fried calamari. Fresh and fried perfectly. Next we had the sorrentina pizza. Mozz, arugula, prosciutto, tomatoes, and pecorino. A small is not so small. Lol. Very well prepared and tasty. I'm looking forward to trying some of their other pizzas. Finally we had seafood pasta with tomato sauce. Again, fresh and deliciously prepared. Definitely a place I want to check out for dinner. There were cops and firemen here (always a good sign for a restaurant or food service establishment.) So go treat yourself to this Hudson County gem and have a few glasses of wine with your meal. ENJOY!!!

  2. Authentic Italian food in a quaint, casual, friendly atmosphere.  Molto Buona!

Located on Bergenline ave, just across from beautiful North Hudson Braddock Park, sits the perfect little piece of southern Italy.  Everything here is tasty and fresh.  The service has always been exceptional. I love that it is very laid back, casual, and delicious.

I used to live just across the park from Sorrentina, and used to come at least two to three times per month.  It was always my go-to place when family and friends came to visit, or just when I was in the mood for some amazing brick oven pizza.  Everything is good here.  Over the years I have tried most of their pizza toppings, the fried calamari, mussels, lasagna, penne with vodka, chicken parm, lobster ravioli, and lots more.  I have never been disappointed.

Sadly, I didn't discover my favorite dish there until I was only a few months from moving away from the area, but at least it gives me something to come back for.  They have the best grilled octopus that I have ever had!  It is so tender and tasty with just the right amount of acid.  lately whenever we are in the area running errands, we stop here just for the octopus, regardless of the time or what our actual dinner plans might include. Amazing!

  3. Wowzers!! This place is absolutely delicious. I've been here a few times and have never had a disappointing meal.

Their pizza is delicious and just the perfect crispy crust. Their salads are huge and filled of big pieces of chicken and tomatoes, etc. Its a great size for two people.

In my most recent visit we went for a family celebration and they were able to sit a family of 7 right away. **NOTE** we also came in at 5:30pm and beat the crowd. This place gets packed quickly! They have a great selection of wine and beers.

Started off with their yummy bread and oil and it was heaven. The bread is crunchy and  a great texture of softness inside. We ordered the calamari and octopus as appetizer. Both really great and perfectly cooked. I order their oven baked salmon with salad. It was sooo yummy and such a large portion.

I highly recommend this place to others. Worth the money and even wait depending on what time you show up.

  4. Again and again still my favorite Italian restaurant. This is my third update and I just wanted to be more thorough on this lovely establishment.  Their brick oven pizzas are to die for, so delicious. You will not be disappointed trust me. My favorite one is the Sorrentina , but I've tried some others and they were so good too. The pasta dishes are always cooked to perfection and their homemade sauce is magnificent. My favorite appetizer is the fried calamaris or the insalata vicana which is avocado, red onion, fresh mozzarella, grilled chicken and lots of fresh tomatoes. They now carry a selection of wine and beer which I was excited about.

The decor is very homey, ol' country  Italian family style. It's not a very big restaurant but it's cute and yes it does get packed on the weekends but it's never a crazy wait and it's always worth the time.

  5. I am excited I tried something really tasty in my neighborhood.
The service was outstanding; they followed up, they were able to give me options, and also took care of our left overs.

the bread was delicious they served.
The pizza we got was the commonly ordered pizza, but without the thin meat on it. I don't really like it.

Ok, I don't think I have tried pizza in NYC that was this flavorful, fresh, tasty, and overall great flavor. The crust was like no other. The slices weren't too large and not too small. the Medium pizza was PERFECT for two people (we had left overs). I felt like we ate a lot and indeed it was delicious.

I didn't have the pasta, but I will see it looked really good. I also enjoy the smells of everyone's food coming out. It was packed even for a late Monday evening on memorial weekend.

I hope you enjoy this place as much as I did.

  6. Amazing amazing pizza! So fresh, tomato sauce was on point. The service was swift, attentive, and polite. And the ambiance was cozy, not too noisy given the Friday crowd.

Ordered two large pies amongst 4 people. This was definitely enough, we had about 4-6 slices and there was still delicious leftovers.

Warning about early closing – went on a Sunday night around 9:15pm (and they're supposed to close at 10pm) – but they were already closing up shop, no dice! Make sure to come early or call ahead on nights where it might be slower.

As a plus, the bread was so fresh and addictive (sometimes, you can judge the quality of food by their bread!)

  7. I took my mom here for dinner last night and we had a great time. My mom is a very picky portuguese woman who never likes to eat out and she enjoyed her meal here.
We started with the vicante salad( WOW- Amazing) I loved the taste of the grilled chicken mixed with avocado and mozzarella. Very good and they give you a good portion size to share.
Oh – BTW- the hot bread served to the table with olive oil and pepper and parm cheese is perfect.
On to the meal- i love that we were able to do half/half pizza. We got the small (6 slices) and split it with the monte and the (artichoke, prosciutto, mushroom). They were both very tasty The latter pizza was definitely our favorite. Had lots of great flavor to it.
What way to end a b-day celebration night – tiramisu and coffee.. its made in house and it was delish.
Prices are reasonable, service is great. We came around 530 before the rush of people on a tuesday night and found parking easily across the street. But it did get packed as we were leaving. so i suggest coming early.

  8. 3.5 stars

This review is only for the pasta and chicken entree. I am definitely going back soon to try their pies, salads and seafood offerings.

    Good:
Neighborhood gem serving traditional family style Italian food. This place is known for its pies and seafood and silly us, we ordered chicken Alfredo Pasta and Chicken with Mushroom. Once seated we were served warm baked bread which was so flavorful, crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. We enjoyed the bread with some olive oil.

Portion sizes: Entrees and pasta dishes can easily feed 3-4 people.

Vibe: All the servers look straight out of the Goodfellas movie 🙂 super slick gelled hair and speaking in fluent italian.

Next to a great dessert place that opened up just 6 months back and a homemade gelato store right across the store.
    ========================================================

    Dishes we ordered:

    – Chicken Alfredo Pasta: had grilled chicken with fettuccine in Alfredo sauce. The  dish was very one note and i didn't enjoy it very much. It wasn't bad, but wasn't great either.

    – Chicken with mushrooms in lemon sauce: This was a a tasty dish, but floating in a lot of butter and oil. The mushrooms used were canned and not fresh so one star knocked down. The dish also had some wilted greens as well, which actually i was glad about, since both he dishes that we ordered were totally lacking vegetables and crunch of any kind.

Tables next to us ordered mostly pies, salads and seafood. I think those are better options than getting chicken entrees and pastas. I will definitely go back for them.

Bad: may get crowded on weekends, but that is a good sign of a restaurant serving good food 🙂

    Ugly: nothing.
