  1. Average food + ditzy service = worth a pass.

What was effective here: the papas a la huancaina, boiled potatoes in a spicy creamy sauce. It's a simple dish but it was still flavorful, as the sauce does a lot of the heavy lifting. I enjoyed my rice and beans, as well as the tostones (fried plantains), though the latter could have used a sprinkling of salt after they finished frying.

The rotisserie chicken (pollo a la brasa) was a big disappointment. It was very dry on the inside. Although the chicken skin was crispy, it was not infused with any spices or real flavors. The spicy green sauce and garlic aioli do help, but considering pollo a la brasa is one of their specialties I was not impressed. At $13 for a half chicken with rice and beans, it's not a terrible price.

Our food took a long time to come out and our waitress did not ever come through to give us updates, or even to thank us for waiting. We got no regular water refills. Even getting extra plates for splitting our dishes was a challenge. I think the restaurant had only one waitress for the area we were sitting in, but she was not enthusiastic. At one point, she started dancing with another waiter rather than pick up our check…

  2. This place was mainly chosen as a late night dinner spot that was within a block walking distance of where we were.
While my boyfriend loved it, I am indifferent to it. The wait staff was nice enough, but when we got that $80+ bill, I wasn't that impressed.
We started off with the sangria. Fairly decent sangria, not too sweet. I have had better, but it did not start off the meal bad.
The ground beef empanadas were ordered next, and those were actually tasty. You get two for the appetizer serving. I enjoyed the two different (white and green) sauces served with them. I drizzled both on top of my empanada.
The combo seafood soup (Pariguela) is just what it sounds like – I did not think much of it, not having a lot of flavor in my opinion, though my boyfriend raved about it while inhaling it.
He ordered the skirt steak (Entrana), which was cooked perfectly medium rare with a tasty chimichurri sauce on the side. Beans and rice on the side.
I ordered the shrimp sautéed in garlic sauce (camarones al Ajillo). The sauce was not too thick and not too watered down, which I appreciate. There was about 10 shrimp. The sauce made it perfect to mix the white rice in, to add some flavor.
Would I go again? Probably not… There are too many restaurants in New York City to try than to go back to one I thought of as mediocre.

  3. Ive been  fan of Tu Casa for a long time. This place gets it right everytime. The food is tasty and flavorful, and I last tried the seafood stew and ate every bit. The service is great and not to mention im addicted to the green sauce! Five stars in my book.

  4. I came here with my man for our 9 month anniversary and we were happy with our experience. We walked in and asked for a menu at first. Everything was reasonably priced and the staff was nice. We ordered two besame cocktails which was very strong. So if you're looking to get really drunk that is the drink for you. Haha…. I had the pork chops with yellow rice which was good. My boyfriend had the seafood soup which was good. The music was very nice and it wasn't too crowded that i felt overwhelmed. It was really nice.

  5. Nothing is more satisfying than a big plate of food after a long day in the sun.  That's what brought me to Tu Casa, as well as the recommendation from a couple of friends.  It was quite loud when I went since they had someone playing the guitar and singing.  I don't have anything against live performances in restaurants but volume level is important.  As for the food, I ordered the Bistec Tu Casa, or as I prefer to call it, The Fat Kid Plate.  It's got your greatest hits on the plate: grilled steak, chicharrón, chorizo, rice and beans, a fried egg, and maduro.  Other than the chicharrón having barely any meat on it, everything was good.  The most important thing to remember when going to Tu Casa is to douse everything in the sauces provided, especially the green sauce.

  6. One of my favorite Latin places on seamless and have also been there and it is nice. Get the pernil con arroz moro, skirt steak, chicken soup! The green sauce is the bomb

  7. Last night I'm craving for some grilled chicken then my bf suggested this place. He said he always ordered for delivery from this restaurant. So I checked their menu and called the restaurant to order for pick up.

I ordered the pollo chicken with beans & rice. I like the texture of the chicken & its juicy. The rice has a little bit of salty taste and its not bad but I still prefer the plain steam white rice. The beans taste decent since I'm not really into beans but I got it coz its part of my order. My bf got the pernil con arroz moro with avocado on the side. Its a shredded pork with black beans & yellow rice. Its flavorful & my bf enjoyed the food. He even mix the avocado in it.

We got into the restaurant after 10 minutes we called and our food is ready. Super fast! We enjoyed our dinner. Soon I'll come back to dine in.

  8. A favorite spot- new menu!
The food is consistently fresh and made to order. From seafood, to the skirt steak to my fave, the rotisserie chicken, it's spot on whether dining in or delivery. I do both.
Today- post gym workout. Too hot to cook. Ordered from their NEW lunch menu! ( excited) chic with Maduros and salad! And a sangria cause it's that good. Watching the game and enjoying my meal. what a great afternoon!
