  1. Thai restaurant in the heart of the west village, swallowed up and sandwiched between so many other establishments in that area. One better then the next or worse.

My friend recommended this place, since I was in the mood for Thai food this made sense.

They have seating outside and inside depends on you're preference we opted on sitting inside.

The decor is very boring and feels like the walls are made of bathroom tiles, well they actually are

We ordered the Thai pad with mini egg rolls, yum to die for, I quickly forgot about the decor and focused on finishing what was in my plate and of course some good ole fashion wine.

  2. Tue Thai was the last meal my wife and I had during a recent visit to NYC. Great authentic food in the low lit dining room had us stuffed as we waddled out the door. I had the Pad Thai and it was packed with typical Pad Thai flavor and thankfully very little if any peanut flavor. Back home, most Thai food is overwrought with peanut oil or something that really doesn't make for an appetizing meal.

Anyways, the service was fine and as we were leaving, the place became rather busy, so I recommend eating right after they break for dinner (4-5pm) to avoid the crowd and any waiting. Oh, and the outdoor patio is a great place to dine al fresco and people watch. It was unfortunately too cold while we were there. Next time!

  3. You seriously can't beat their lunch deal. $9 for an app, entree, salad, and drink? I'm in.

We ordered delivery, and it came super quickly. If you order online, you don't have as many options as the dine-in lunch special  (ex. only sodas are available as options for the drink), but Tue Thai was super accommodating and sent us a Thai iced tea anyways.

I got the Noodle-less Pad Thai with a salad and spring rolls, and really enjoyed it! It was a stir fry of vegetables and chicken in a pad-thai like sauce. It didn't exactly taste like most pad thai that I've had in the past, but it was still delicious and a healthier alternative. I wish there had been zucchini noodles or rice to soak up the extra sauce though.

I've been so sad since Cafetasia closed, but I think I just found my new go-to lunch place!

  4. This place now has a C rating. Gross.

It felt dirty the last time I was here.

  5. The restaurant is located right near a beautiful garden shop in lower Manhattan surrounded by historic buildings, so it has a pleasant feel to it. Inside, the spare clean lines of the dining room were restful.

The lunch specials looked price-worthy, but I declined because I was specifically after one thing.  After all the street cart papaya salads I had grazed on throughout my recent visit to Thailand (without once falling sick thanks to the smacking hot chillis), I was hankering for a "Som Tam".  In fact even as I write, the mouth juices start flowing; the sour/sweet/hot taste conjured up by the very mention of papaya salad  is so compelling.

Their papaya salad is a great size, and you can ask for additional spice.  I relished it, it was crunchy, nicely presented, and hit the spot. My hankering was nicely satiated.

Gratis addition: A nice New York City touch as the table rumbles when the Subway runs underneath.

  6. I love the lunch special $9 you get a whole meal. I sat outdoors all 5 times I dined there. The food is really good. Try and order within the first few minutes because it gets busy. They only have 3 waitresses. The food is amazing nice few of the west village a lot to see. My favorite appetizer is the crab rangoon.

  7. Good food, reasonable prices, terrible service.

I was very impressed by the happy hour specials here. Come by for a drink before 8pm – totally worth it – especially if you can sit outdoors. You won't find many deals like that in that neighborhood.

The food was pretty good – not the most authentic Thai but still good – and generous portions and reasonable prices. Get a curry or noodle dish. You can't really go wrong.

The service was a joke. They had one person covering the whole restaurant. Unbelievable. Very slow. I saw one table order, never get the order, then leave. I saw another table repeatedly as for their drinks. Just awful. They need to get their act together.

  8. 3.5 Stars

The Thai food here is pretty good though for Americanized tastes – that means a heavier taste. My favorite item was the papaya salad which was a tasty combination of shredded green papaya, cherry tomatoes, carrot strips, peanuts, and not much heat. It was sweet, and I liked the hard texture.

The pad see ew had chewy noodles, only a little bit of chopped Chinese broccoli, and was a tiny bit too salty, I think a little less sky sauce should have been used.

I would not recommend the fried tofu appetizer. The tofu was too dry, and tough on the outside, and not soft or fluffy enough on the inside. The dipping sauce was pretty good, but really sweet.

Overall, I wouldn't mind the papaya salad again, but would try other items on the menu.
