  1. We were in the neighborhood for Levain Bakery and wanted to get breakfast before my family had to leave for their flight.  We came across Utopia and decided to give it a try.

This place is your average diner where things aren't fancy, the utensils aren't the shiniest and the cups don't look the cleanest.  It's a no frills place but gets the job done.

I got the California omelette (3 eggs) with avocado, cheddar cheese, mushrooms and tomato.  The omelets are HUGE and definitely could have been split. None of us finished our omelets on our own! The omelettes comes with potatoes and toast as well.

My brother got the salmon egg's benedict and it looked very average with a bit too much sauce on it.

All in all, for what this place is, it's not bad.  As long as you don't come here looking for an upscale feel, this place will do.

  2. Subpar place, regardless of its UWS location. Whether it's the lack of service, food (quality, presentation, taste), or the run-down venue.

Do yourself a favor and eat at Chipotle. Or come with great company.

  3. Went to this diner on  a chance because it was near the 72nd subway stop.   Majority of the time when you go to diner you are not going to expect the same service and food as a fine dining establishment.  My husband and I walked in and was seated.  NOTE: If you are tall do not sit in the 2 seater booth because your knees will hit each other.

This diner reminded me something out of Seinfeld.  The employees were kind and the menu is huge. You can get breakfast all the time. I ordered the breakfast Mexican wrap and it was huge and  It taste pretty good. My husband ordered a burger that he said tasted mediocre but  nothing to brag about.  This will probably visit this place again for quick food.

  4. This place is conveniently located across the street from the 72nd street 1/2/3 subway stop. My friend and I came here just after noon on a Sunday. The place was crowded, and there were a few groups waiting for tables. However, within five minutes, the host whisked us away to our table.

As for the food, it was general diner fare. I got a Western omelette, to which I added swiss cheese. It came with potatoes, and toast. The portion was huge, and I was pretty full by the end.

When I go to a diner, I'm looking for solid food. Utopia did the job for me.

  5. Popped in for breakfast and catch up time with a friend. Monday morning buzz, filled with locals. Friendly staff, fast and attentive. Basic diner style menu. Had a lumberjack – eggs bacon and French toast instead of pancakes. So busy talking and eating, forgot to take pics. Nice diner with great views of the city!

  6. A-Ok place…we were starving after an early a.m. run so we stopped there for breakfast. My friend had breakfast/brunch special eggs with coffee & small cup of OJ. I had buttermilk pancakes that I almost didn't touch. It was just dinner food but kind of not welcoming with slow service. This is going to be just one time experience. I wouldn't recommend it for brunch!

  7. Good neighborhood spot for breakfast and lunch.  They try to keep the people moving so the wait is never too long.  Their onion rings are delicious.  I also really enjoy their chicken quesadillas.  The jalapeños give them a bit of a kick and the guacamole tastes fresh.  The tuna fish was good too although a bit too much cheese on the melt.  The fajita in the pita was just okay.  It was a bit too plain for our tastes.  The salads are big.  They are not shy with portions and have a lot of employees working hard.

  8. Friend claimed she'd taken me here before, though I don't remember. I don't think I will want to come back. Service was fair, but hamburger was not cooked the way I had asked, was too well done, wasn't that good, and gave me indigestion. Only came because we were running out of time and options for food. Blegh.
