  1. I had a craving for Haitian food and more particularly boulettes.

The food here is really good.  I'm a big fan of the boulettes (meatballs) and the égumes are also tasty.  On this visit, my friend had the fried chicken, which I meant to try but I was too busy stuffing my face with meatballs and rice, but she says it was very good.  Each meal comes with a little teaser salad with lettuce, beets, and sometimes tomato and or a couple of red peppers and onions.  They give you a bit of pasta with a red sauce to go with it as well.  There is also an additional portion of rice with beans that you receive.  They gave me very large portion with today's order I guess to serve the both of us.  It would serve four people easily and it's very good.

The dining area is small but they've got a big screen TV in there to liven the vibe up and there is nice artwork  on the walls.

It's a good change of pace from the other more typical caribbean restaurants which focus on Trinidadian and Jamaican cuisine.

  2. I really like the Haitian food here.   I would recommend it for affordable yet delicious Haitian meals.  The ladies who work there are really approachable and friendly and patient with us.  When I was there, I bumped into my friend, and they had to wait for us to order because my friend was just chatting away, while my belly was rumbling for tasty food.

Actually, I went with a former co-worker of mine who suggested it. I am so happy that she did.  We agreed that the food was rich and just delicious and had humongous portions.  The black bean sauce is separately contained in a plastic styrofoam cup, which was later poured on to my white rice, which was just absolutely delectable.  I had the legume platter, which I split with my friends.  It cost $7.50, so when we split it, it become $3.75.  Not bad for a full plate of delicious home-cooked goodness.

We also got fruit soda and champagne soda, which I later realized you have to give in the bottles so they can reuse them for later use.  That I did not know but my friend let me know.  I want to come back and try another platter of yummy food. The B44 at Nostrand & Rogers is nearby as well as the 2 train to Winthrop Avenue.  I removed a star only, because I thought the atmosphere was a bit odd since there was this trash receptacle that was kind of in the doorway attracting critters of the winged kind which we had to fight off during the meal, but man I tell you it was worth the fight.
