  1. They make some pretty good fried wings.  They're typically a large sized wing and fried with a glaze that was salty versus being spicy. It's got good crunch and everything was cooked evenly.  The sauce or chicken really made my mouth dry, drier than normal fried chicken would.  I think I drank a full liter (or maybe 2 liters) of water just eating 6 wings.  It didn't taste bad but it is too salty overall.

What's bad about this place is the lack of eating space. They have one picnic table and benches than line the sidewalk (which begs the question if its considered public or private space).  It would be nice not to rush anywhere to eat the wings after purchase. Not exactly a winter friendly place to stay and eat at.

  2. I had been saving Wangs for a date night for some time now and it did not disappoint! Conveniently located near Brooklyn Boulders if you like rock climbing and are looking for a complete date night package, we strolled over here to replace some of those calories just burned on the wall :).

First thing to note, is that there is no indoor seating. On a nice evening, they have some picnic tables set outside, but if it's too cold outside, this is a delivery and take-away option only. Their menu is limited, but what they do, they do well… exceedingly well! My boyfriend loves his wings and said that these were some of the best that he had ever had! A spicy sauce and super crispy skin… I had the chicken sandwich which was also excellent.

A curious fusion of southern and asian foods, their sauces, their sides and of course their chicken was mouthwateringly good. A bit pricier than your average chicken wing joint, but again, they are unique and absolutely delicious so I will definitely be recommending Wangs to friends!

  3. Fried chicken walk-up in Park Slope? Yes please!

Was wondering around the neighborhood on a Friday night and pleasantly discovered Wangs. Although I wanted something clean and healthy this evening like a salad. I failed to control my eating choices, like I usually do.

Tried the fried chicken and korean hot wings. Both were delicious and full of flavor. Both dishes were very fresh and friendly portion sizes.

Since they only have one table outside, I ate on a bench close by. Please don't judge me. I was hungry. I would recommend getting this to go though.

They had a bunch of great looking sides that I wanted to try, but I already got more than enough food. Maybe next time for the sides.

  4. Oh well.

There have been about 10 different occasions when we thought, "we should try wangs" and it just didn't work. Finally, the stars aligned and off we went.

Seating is limited to one really out of sorts picnic table. The middle plank of the table seems warped and leaves a bump in the center, making it challenging to eat with someone across from you. A bike rack would also make things far easier if it is an eat and go kinda place, but that doesn't figure into my star rating – just a suggestion as we were not the only folks looking for one nearby.

While we were waiting for our food, the folks seated at the table happened upon a big hair in their final wing, which was a less than appetizing start to our meal. To the credit of the staff, they appeared to comp the entire meal of the couple, but it definitely put us on our guard at the start.

The wings aren't cheap but we placed an order for 9 wings and 3 sides plus some popcorn chicken for the kids. We ordered our wings hot, and I assumed that when you only offer two kinds of wings (hot and not hot), you'd get that right. They didn't. The wings came doused in a honey sauce with no spice in site. The counter dude made it seem as if it were a matter of just adding some red pepper flakes, but the owner gave us some containers of what the wings should have been cooked in and there was definitely more to it. We were disappointed that we didn't really get the full experience of the wings as they were intended.

The wings also weren't well cooked, I'm sorry to say. They were beautiful on the plate but unevenly cooked. I think their effort to leave the wings intact (drumette and winglet together) actually made the smaller portion of the wing overcooked by the time the thicker part was done. The meat itself was not the succulent, crave-worthy awesomeness that I really want from wings.  This just missed the mark.

The sides were worthy of a 2 star deduction on their own. The collard greens were just about the oddest preparation I've had of a side I usually really enjoy. They had an odd aftertaste of toothpaste and virtually no flavor. There's a good reason they are usually doused in vinegar – these were icky.

The okra was also a really big miss. I'm used to okra being dry fried to the point of the slimy interior disappearing or boiled and then tossed – these seem to be cooked in a pan but not long enough to do it right. Slimy, squeaky and with painfully little of the coconut flavor promised…it just didn't work. The potato salad was fine, but the other two sides and the miss on the chicken really made this a miss for us.

I should probably give this 2 stars based on our overall experience, but I really do value this sort of option in the Slope. They are trying to do something different, something tasty, and it is close. They need to work on their recipes a bit and seriously, when you offer two kinds of wings, get the order right! Oh – and have the wing master wear a hair net. I may have to scrub my eyes with your toothpaste-flavored collard greens to get that image out.

  5. Small shop with a table outside. Very simple.

No where else that I know of where you can get a fried chicken banh mi. The portion was huge but that comes with the price. Nonetheless, probably the best fried chicken sandwich I've had in NY. It's also not on a baguette (it's on a sesame hoagie-esque roll) and the daikon was a bit too heavy (it leaked through the bread) but still very solid. Could probably be a portion for two people.

My girlfriend also says it's her favorite Asian chicken wing in the city. It has a Thai-Vietnamese kind of flavor to it – definitely a SE Asian, sweet, slightly tangy, kind of taste. Owner and workers were very friendly. Looks like it's the perfect spot to eat outside on a sunny day!

  6. I've recently found my old account for Yelp and I'm in the midst of transferring over my reviews. The rating and the review are exactly the same so their overall review didn't change as I've deleted my reviews from my old account and it's not inactive. Reposting the old reviews with my previous ratings was the only way I can transfer these over unfortunately.

My sister and I came here at 1030 for dinner and to our surprise it was still open (and people still ordering food). We got the wings (non spicy), mac and cheese, and the corn and everything was delicious! They make everything when you order it so you do have to wait but it's worth it since it's fresh.

There is a communal picnic table to eat at which is a good way to socialize with strangers. A man who was sitting across from me said "I don't even like wings but these are good." So maybe that'll convince you that it's really delicious! The only thing I would tell them to do is to do a side of corn off the cob — my high maintenance California self doesn't want corn in my teeth 😉

  7. Korean fried chicken wings… Say no more, I want it!
These are not the typical small wings or drumsticks that you would get at other restaurants. These are decently sized whole wings, well marinated and topped with fresh scallions. Usually 2-3 chicken wings  (accompanied with a beer) hit the spot for a great snack! Careful about ordering hot, hot is very spicy!

  8. HELLA GOOD CHICK WANGS!

I would give the chicken wings A 4.5, but I ordered a bunch of sides to go along with it and I was not impressed with the sides at all.

Here are my major thoughts on what I had:
Chicken wangs: 4.5 — super tasty and great seasoning, the chicken is crunch, but there is tons of meat on it and it's a little expensive, especially since the portions are not large // They gave us the option of having hot sauce on one half of the batch and none on the other side — both were delicious
Cornbread 1 — DRY as F* ! I love cornbread, but the one here is pretty dry. Don't expect much from it.
Mac & Cheese 1– Huge disappointment! Also very dry and kind of hard on the top.
Kimchi– 3 — It was good. It didn't leave a huge impression on me, however it wasn't terrible like the cornbread and mac & cheese.

I'd DEFINITELY come back for the Chicken Wangs, probably nothin' else.

    PS
This is an outdoor seating place only and it is located in one of the most dense locations for restaurants in Brooklyn.

    Chicken Wangs and wonder,
