  1. I've always said that authenticity matters. The servers were speaking Thai to one another, so that definitely earned it another star.

Food: unfortunately, the sweetness level in the Green Curry was a little high for me. It seems as though the restaurant tailored traditional Thai curry taste for diners in this area. The calamari, however, was phenomenal! It was so different from what I have experienced elsewhere and it'll be worth a second visit just to have the calamari again!

Service: impeccable, the servers were always around! I've noticed that other customers were quite demanding and difficult to please. I'm glad that the servers were so patient.

Decor: dark place with low lighting. "Romantic", I guess.

  2. Some of the best thai food in the area. I've ate in and had good delivered. Both types of experiences have been good. The place is very sleek and I've never had any issues with wait time or service. Delivery is fast and accountable. As for the food, I enjoy their wings and wok options. The prices are also extremely reasonable for the area.

  3. Great food at awesome prices! I got the green curry with vegetable tofu and added the house hot sauce to it. Made it super yum! Without the hot sauce it was just eh, too bland for my Indian tongue. The curry came with a side of rice and was only $9. Only disappointment was how my tofu curry had like 2 pieces of tofu. And I also for baby corn for an extra $1 but definitely not worth it, they're stingy with the extras and protein.

The ambience is cute and very date-like. I came with friends but it was a little too quiet and romantic for us. I'd definitely return on a date though!

  4. Second night in a row ordering and I rarely order in Thai, it's really good! The roast duck was delicious and the egg fried rice was amazing. My roommates loved their basil chicken and beef too!

  5. The novio and I loved our short trip to WaveThai.  We decided on doing some takeout, and food was ready in under 15 minutes.

Ordered the Peanut Curry Chicken and a Chicken Ki Mao based on all the previous Yelpers' recommendations.  We were completely blown away by the flavor in both of these dishes!  His only complaint was that there wasn't much protein in the curry dish, and it looked very watered down, but we had some chicken at home that he tossed in, and he was back to happily chomping away at his dish.  I really liked the Ki Mao, and I'd gladly order again. No issues for me with the portion sizes.

Total for the 2 orders was less than $20.  I think that is totally worth it!

  6. I'm only giving this place 3 stars because although I love their food, truly, they constantly have a low inspection grade. Why!? My friend and I used to go here all the time, but we finally gave up (I got a serious stomach issue from something I ate there). Not pretty. It's sad that they really do make great food, but that they can't seem to keep that place up to health standards. If you dare, my favorite is the Peanut Princess with chicken. So good…it hurts…

  7. There are a ton of thai restaurants in Astoria, but most of the ones I've tried have fallen flat. I felt a *WAVE* of relief last night when we were served our meal at this adorable restaurant. Slightly off the beaten path on 31st Street past Ditmars Blvd., Wave Thai offers a wide variety of dishes at comparably low prices. We started with the Bangkok Wings ($5) and Seafood Fritters ($4), both of which were served piping hot and fried to perfection with sweet chili sauce on the side. I enjoyed the Red Hot String Bean Wok dish w/ Shrimp ($11) (sidenote: I asked for this dish spicy and still found it extremely mild. it would have been even better with more heat. TRUST ME, I CAN HANDLE IT) and the boy had the Crispy Duck w/ Sweet Tamarind Sauce ($16), which he said was deliciously fatty and cooked to perfection. We washed it all down with with some bottles of Singha ($4). From the cool wall decorations, to the cute pillow seats, the ambience was so on point. Service was friendly, and the food was well-priced. We'll definitely be back, and next time I know you'll kick the heat up a notch when I request "very spicy". 😉

  8. I was visiting my friend in Astoria when we decided to grab some Thai food for dinner. Not only did this place have a great ambiance and delicious food, they also custom made my drunken noodles! Besides the fact that they were very flexible and accommodating, I thoroughly enjoyed the food and definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some quality Thai food in Astoria.
