Wild Fusion

“Prices are decent, they are fast, the food is fresh and hot, and I love ordering delivery from this place!”

“(Diced tuna app is a very small proportion, just an fyi) main dishes: sizzling tofu, shrimp panang curry, garlic roasted salmon, and Java fried rice which was excellent, right amount of kick.”

“Two great things are that they're BYOB and they have outdoor seating, which in of itself is enough reason to give it a shot.”

  1. Ordered delivery. Hit and miss. The sushi (out of control roll) was actually really good. The eel was awesome and it was warm…

The baby chicken wings were different and pretty good but not amazing.

The chicken pad thai on the other hand was very disappointing. Lacked flavor and the chicken wasn't very good.

It was a little annoying that the delivery guy asked me to come outside of my building to meet him. He said there was no parking but he just had his car in a no parking zone, which I imagine delivery people do all the time… I've never had any other delivery people complain. Yeah it's JC…there's no parking. so be prepared to put on shoes!!!! and maybe even pants.

  2. Sometimes Asian Fusion spots can be tricky. They don't specialize in one thing all too well. Yes, it's nice to have lots of options under one roof. However, sometimes when you're craving sushi you just want a classic Japanese spot, or when you have a hankering for pad see ew it's nice to eat at a thai restaurant. It is what it is.

Last night we were craving Japanese, and Wild Fusion just didn't do the trick. We wanted to try Teppan, but it was closed for renovation and caught in a late night bind, Wild Fusion came to the rescue.

We started out with curry puffs and shrimp spring rolls. The spring rolls were really yum – filled with lots of little shrimps and veggies. Too bad I didn't order my own, next time I'm not sharing! The curry puffs, not so yum. They were really dried out and there was only a teeny section in the center filled with meat, the rest was just a burnt puff shell.

The BF wasn't wowed with his sushi selections. I'm not one to judge because I don't really eat sushi, but he didn't finish his yellowtail and spicy salmon rolls, which is reaallllyyyyyy unusual.

I wasn't thrilled with my cold sesame noodles either. I ordered the noodles mild and they were served spicy, which I just can't do. After two bites I was done- spice is a deal breaker for me. I actually really wish that I liked spicy food. It's kind of a bummer because my distaste for it can really limit my dining options. I just can't handle it!

I'll try Wild Fusion again when I'm looking for a more traditional Chinese dish. For now, I'm still on the hunt for a go-to Thai and Sushi spot in the Grove Street area.

  3. Was really pleasantly surprised with my delivery experience from here. First of all, the food arrived in 30 minutes which is super fast for most JC places and under the 45-50 minutes I was quoted. It was also very hot and tasted fresh.

The best thing was definitely the steamed pork dumplings. These were really excellent,  much better than I expected, and probably some of the better dumplings I've had in New Jersey. The sauce that came with them was the perfect balance of sweetness and vinegar also. (Mini) pork soup dumplings were alright, but nothing super special. Eggplant with garlic sauce was pretty good as well, though very similar to other restaurants I have had it at (not a bad thing).

This is a solid choice for food, at least for delivery since I am not sure how eating at the restaurant having never been there. Usually I am skeptical of these fusion places that serve multiple cuisines as my experience has been that they are not very good at any particular thing. At least in terms of what I ordered, I was happy with my food; they also have sushi and some thai options.

  4. We arrived at 7 PM for dinner and no one else was in the place, this immediately raised my suspicion about how the quality of food may have changed since the last time I ate at this asian fusion restaurant.

And just as I suspected the quality of the chicken satay went from whole pieces of sliced chicken breast with very nice seasonings to little tiny chunks of chicken that was poorly seasoned and sour.

We shared a trio sample of dumplings and I think they were essentially a third of the size of steamed dumplings from previous visits. Another place where I think they're cutting back on quality.

I have to say the eggplant and garlic sauce was absolutely delicious as was my Thai iced tea.  The server was very nice.

The prices remain reasonable the ambience and the core continues to be pleasant and comfortable.  As always parking is always a challenge on Grove Street.

  5. I was a little wary of this place because it is almost always empty when I pass by. However, the sushi rolls were very tasty and the service was good.

  6. Haven't been to Wild Fusion in at least six years. Almost added more time to those years but my intended target, Kraverie, closed early on Sunday.  Cold night, empty stomachs….made an easy decision to just dash around the corner and warm up with some tea and sushi instead.

Tried eel for the first time.  Liked it.  Rolls were just as I remembered and that was a good thing.  Definitely a reliable place for sushi and if I still lived in the area I would be calling in some deliveries again for sure.

  7. So I wanted to meet a few friends for dinner in Jersey City, but wanted the night to be as simple as possible. Wild fusion was a good choice for simple.

To continue on with the simple theme of the night I ordered a spicy tuna and spicy salmon roll. As expected, it was simple – decent sushi.

The nice thing about this place is they have one of the lowest mark ups for a wine bottle I've ever seen. $15 for a house red or white. Yeah, so we got that!

They have an extensive menu, so if you're craving generic American-Chinese favorites, they're all on here. My friend ordered the Thai shrimp fried rice which was really spicy. They have pretty big portions for their entrees. And if you want elaborate sushi rolls, those too.

  8. I only get takeout here out of convenience because it's only a few blocks from my apartment and a cheaper alternative for sushi, but the past few times I've given up my love for sushi after eating this stuff.

The fish is not fresh and front desk staff is not friendly. For a place that has a lot of nearby competition, step your game up!
