This place is a standard Cantonese seafood restaurant. Food is just so-so and to be honest, the place is kinda dirty. How do I know this? My dad and his buddies love this place. They have an aversion to cleaner places. Would have given 2 stars but I like the Peking duck here and you can't beat the price for a whole duck here.
I told my bf's mom I was craving duck and she brought us here. They have a deal where you get a free half duck with any order over $80, we had a group of 8 hungry people, so it wasn't a problem! The duck is small, but skin was nice and crispy and the steamed buns were soft. Besides the duck, we had half fried and half steamed. Loved both! The fried was so crunchy and salty! Had nice veggies on it too. We also enjoyed the walnut shrimp and honey garlic pork chops. Lots of good Cantonese food.
Overall everything was tasty and the restaurant wasn't busy, so service was fine. I'd recommend it.
OK, I have changed my mind to give Yun Tian Lou an EXTRA STAR!!! The peking duck has definiitely improved over the course of 1.5 years. Moreover, all of the other dishes that we ordered on Saturday night were extremely flavorful and most importantly, my boyfriend LOVED it after coming here to celebrate his birthday upon request. According to my boyfriend, Yun Tian Lou's Chinese food is fabulous and I totally concur with him. Anyhow, we gave a fairly nice gratitude for great service, good food, and generous price!!
