  1. Worst breakfast ever. Do not order home fries. It's just boiled potatoes sliced thinly without any seasoning (and really dry from lack of oil). I ordered corn beef hash that had a funky taste and slimy texture. The scrambled eggs were unimpressive. I can make scrambled eggs better than the cook. The bacon strips were thin and transparent. Never coming back for breakfast. Three stars is definitely more like a 1 star restaurant.

  2. This is a decent diner – I really appreciated the amount of menu options. Tons of seafood dishes to choose from.

You also get a hearty amount of food. Before you order, they bring you bread and butter, little cups of seasoned chickpeas, pickles, carrot sticks.

The service was decent but not great. The waiter asked you what vegetable side you wanted, as if you were supposed to just know what they offered. You had to ask him what they had as opposed to him just telling you. That annoyed me a bit. Still, the staff was very nice though.

The food? Hit or miss. You have to know what to order. Some items were very good like the grilled octopus and the baked clams. Oh and the buffalo wings are surprisingly great – didn't expect that! Also, stole a couple shrimp from my boyfriend's steak and shrimp scampi – the shrimp were great – succulent and fresh. Others were just meh. My lobster bisque was pretty dull – needed to add salt to even remotely enjoy it. My chicken sampler was also just OK. My mashed potato side was dry. My broccoli side had black spots in some areas. My boyfriend's sweet potato side was just a huge sweet potato – it was cooked but still entirely whole, unpeeled and had hairy sprouts sticking out of it. Not very appetizing and pretty crude. Oh and the dessert was a hit – very good cheesecake.

  3. I've been here since I was a kid. One of the few American restaurants left in a predominantly Asian area.  I've seen this place expand and become more wonderful throughout the years.

Sure there are plenty of old people, but lots of families too.  It's great for a family breakfast or brunch or lunch.  I've never been here for dinner but I'm sure it's great.

The service is very friendly.  I've been here so many times that they know my family and are always enthusiastic.  Plus they're always dressed in tuxedos!

The prices are much cheaper than el Greco, not to mention much more family friendly without all the nasty teenagers.

The food is great, huge portions and lots for your buck.  Like any diner food, not too much taste, but I forgive them because this has always been the go to for my family.

  4. I came here for brunch with a group of people. We were seated and given water/coffee, a basket of bread, and pickles and coleslaw quickly but sat for about 25 minutes until someone came and took our order. They offer a decent lunch menu with many options, and ordering from that menu you will also receive a soup/salad, and dessert for a cheap price.
I ordered the chicken noodle soup & the chicken quesadilla that came with a small order of fries.
The chicken noodle soup was okay. My quesadillas were disgusting, they were lukewarm, had cold lettuce and tomato in them, and the cheese was barley melted, and the sour cream on the side was watery. The fries were actually really good.
I went into the bathroom, and I think it was the dirtiest bathroom I've ever been in, I didn't even use it.
The 3 stars is more than deserved, but the staff was very friendly, and the people I was with are frequent visitors of three star, so maybe I was there on an off day.

  5. this place literally does not deserve more then three stars, the title speaks for itself
the service is what holds me back from giving this place 5 stars, the waitress I had was a bit of a smart*** , she kept bothering me every 10 mins asking if I was okay interrupting my conversation with my friends repeatedly, when I was placing my order I was really hungry so I wanted to get an entrée for myself rather then splitting it with my girlfriend, and the waitress smirked saying "wow you must be really hungry huh?". you know may If she didn't have so much lip injections done id be able to understand what that fish face was saying when presenting the menu to me. anyway, the fried calamari wasn't the best ive ever had, could use more seasoning.
the salad was bland, not even dressing for the ceaser salad.
the chicken parm was good, very cheesy so big plus
the dessert was honestly my favorite part, the red velvet cake slice I got was delicious. seems like desert is better here then the actual dinner courses.
at the place its more family oriented, filled with old seniors, looks more like a retirement home to me .
I would come back here but not a frequent basis.

  6. My husband likes diners. He enjoys places where there are no surprises, and diners are generally predictable and consistent. We've been to Three Star there a few times. I bet my husband would rate it a 3, but I find it to be no  more than "meh." It wasn't particularly horrible, but it wasn't enjoyable either. The food is meh, the service is meh, the ambiance is meh, and the price is robbery for such mehness. I'm not going to bother spending time on the details, since other reviewers' comments on the mehness will suffice.

  7. i've been coming here since i was a weeeee laddie. Mainly for the breakfast. They're the champs when it comes to this type of food. I always order the 2 eggs over easy with sausage and homefries & toast/coffee/juice ( breakfast special before 11:30am ). Eggs are always cook to perfections, the sausage is tasty and not your rinky dink kind. Home fries are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. All for under 7 bucks? God i love this place. Come here for the breakfast, everything else is mediocre. Oh and they have a full bar as well !

  8. I'm giving 3 Star 4 stars because for the genre of good diners this is a great one. The old school rules here with the senior set running the show. My mom's old friend recommends this spot to me. Big with booths. Lots of dinner specials but I went a la carte.
    Ate:
    Cup of clam chowder-$2.50
    Small salad
    Baked clams 1/2 doz- $9
Now the chowder was Manhattan with a pleasant flavor. The soup was good and crunchy with raw salad. The clams were yeasty too and they gave me an extra one. All in all a local star on Ave U.
