  1. Crowded. Midtown. Irish. That's about all you need to know.

I dig any ole Irish pub and they are the perfect place for a pre-show drink.  Local 5 pm waterhole gatherers are always polite in some of the more friendly establishments like this and the cutie patootie Irish bartenders are always so friendly here.

What else can I say? Drinks are moderately priced and the crowd is generally friendly.

Did I mention the cute bartenders? Cuz they are worth a secoond mention

  2. Start your review…This is a great Irish Pub near Times Square.  It is long and narrow – plenty of bar seating.  Great beer selection on tap – not super broad, but varied.  The service is fast.  It has a lively atmosphere; we were there on a Monday night and there was Karaoke that started around 10:30.  It is attached to the Muse Hotel, so it gets a varied crowd of tourists and businesspeople.

  3. Went there for a Sunday brunch, went with a large group, made reservations..sat on the 2nd floor looked out on a balcony. Ordered the chicken pot pie, it was good..had a flakey crust that fell apart by touch, hard large chunks of grilled chicken and veggies. My only criticism would be that the sauce would be creamier, it was more of a broth than a gravy. I'll be back!!!

  4. Average Irish pub in midtown. Guinness is served in 16 oz pint glasses which really annoys me. Imperial pint, please?! Server was flustered, which is not surprising since there were 15 of us, but she didn't have the finesse to make up for it in other ways. Split the full Irish – mediocre – and tried bits of other people's food. Chicken pot pie was huge but grilled chicken mixed in with what tasted a little like Campbell's cream of mushroom. Not bad, but nothing special. Shepherds pie was decent. French fries were thin and quite tasty although definitely not made in-house. Large sports bar downstairs. Takes reservations for large parties. Probably wouldn't go back but had a pleasant enough time.

  5. Cute Irish pub in the Theater District.  We stopped in before seeing If/Then on a cold February evening.  Nice bartenders, comfortable environment and good beer/cider.

  6. Updating my previous review:

Unfortunately I have to take a star away from O'Brien's.  The bar is a few blocks away from grad school so my friend and I like to come here a lot.  The free shot for a check-in goes a long way, but the lack of customer service and skunky beer has brought the experience down to nearly undefendable.  If it weren't for the free shot I wouldn't come here at all.

Hostess always has an attitude, their facilities are unable to handle parties of more than six, and their beer has become disgusting.  There has to be a problem with the lines because you can't get a fresh beer here for your life.  O'Brien's Ale tastes like someone threw in year old cranberry juice, same for the Budweiser.

Before they use to mix a proper shot for the check-in and lately they just fill up the shot glass with soda water and throw in a dab of vodka or rum.

Just don't go.  There are plenty of places to drink, don't waste your time here.

  7. Cool spot near times square. We went in for a late night irish car bomb before calling it quits. The side shot was no baileys but a cheap knock off that tasted like bad irish whiskey colored white. But hey, it's whiskey and guinness, who can complain? The dj was throwing down solid 90s-00s dance hits. Kind of odd for an irish spot, but my girlfriend was loving it.

  8. Was walking past this place and was drawn in by the great guitar playing musician.  I enjoyed the drinks and it was decently priced considering so close to Times Square.  Service was a bit slow though.
