Bella Caracas Cafe

“This place by far has the most authentic taste of what an Arepa or any Venezuelan plate should taste unless your in Venezuela itself.”

“If it's your first time at this establishment you MUST try the Cachapas with cheese, it is to die for if you like corn.”

“I ordered Pabellón con Pollo and had it delivered, it didn't take too long and the food was incredible…very delicious.”

  1. One of my top favorite foods of all time is the pabellon arepa (corn cake stuffed with seasoned and shredded beef, black beans, sweet plantains, and cheese), the national dish of Venezula stuffed into an arepa. It's really a thing of beauty. Bella Caracas is small, I feel it's probably mostly a take-out/delivery spot but they do have a clean space with about 10 two seaters. I was the only one here on a Saturday afternoon which I don't understand why because the food was wonderful. I got a order of four mini cachapitas (sweet corn bread pancake like things with cheese and crema) for $4 (each was about the size of a half dollar), and the aforementioned pabellon arepa ($7.50). Both were delicious and if I had this place in my neighborhood I would be here at least once a month if not more. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that the prices could have been a tad lower (or the portion of the cachapitas, larger) and the flavor has some room (though very little) for improvement. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area regardless.

  2. I had dinner here with some friends a few nights ago after my good friend raved about this place. The food was good but a little on the bland side but thankfully they have 3 different kinds of sauces they offer at the table. I had the pollo salteado which was a very decent portion, I didn't feel like it was too much or too little, it was perfect.

Dinner went well except for the fact that we were a party of 6 and the waitress brought out the food for 2 people and than brought out everyone else's food 20 minutes later. The waitress kept stressing that everything was being made fresh which is awesome but that was not good judgement in regards to hospitality for her to not bring out everyone's food at the same time.

  3. What can I say?
    This place is awesome!
The decoration of the place is magnificent! The ambiance is carefully tuned as the music is not too loud and the lighting not too bright nor too dim. Conversation can be heard and understood within the party. In general, It provides you with the environment to enjoy the food and the company.
The food is great. Carefully prepared, well done, and without rush. The proportions are acceptable as well. We ordered Tequenitos, Pabellon, and Llanera. They were awesome!
The service is awesome as the waitress is very polite and periodically check on you needs as well as the food's liking. The periodicity of the checks are well timed as it is not very annoying nor very missing.
I'd come back again in the future and I'd recommend to you to this place.

  4. Came for a quick lunch on Easter Sunday and was somewhat disappointed:

*service was friendly but slow. There was just one waitress, perhaps because of the holiday but I had called in and made a reservation for 10 in advance which she was very nice to call and confirm but the food take a while to come out

*Food was ok. I had the sampler appetizer which had empanadas, tequenos, cachapas… and then a cachapa with shredded beef. I ordered reina pepiadas for my friends and they both complained they were too salty. Plus, there was NO avocados!!! So it was really a chicken salad since avocado is what makes a good reina pepiada. When asked, they said the avocados were not ripe enough…ok…. which they had told us! They brought us some comp plantains to make up after a friend asked.

    *Place is cute but small

Id give it another try but it definitely didnt wow me

  5. Had my car in the shop and a few hours to kill around lunchtime so a friend and I stopped by this place, intrigued by the great reviews. No regrets!! From the super friendly server to the delicious food this is definitely worth a repeat visit. I got the rice milkshake with a chicken salad and avocado sandwich, my friend got the pulled pork platter with rice and beans. Yum!!!!! I won't be waiting a year for my next car inspection for another meal there!

  6. I came here today for a late lunch with my boyfriend. We have never been here, and wanted a culinary experience—a change. We were really looking forward to coming here and making this a regular spot.

I was extremely disappointed. The decor, smell was festive, and fun. Unfortunately, I felt like I could have had the same food for a fraction of the price (the decor probably wouldn't have been as nice).

I would have given this restaurant three stars if I felt like we had good service. We weren't asked if we wanted water, or dessert. When I asked for the bill, it took forever to come. It's a small restaurant, and it was crowded but they were not understaffed.

I was watching one of the staff members make the sangria. The berries were still in the plastic containers from the market (seemed like they may not have been washed) and he was not serving them with gloves on (not sure how sanitary that is).

At first I felt badly leaving this review because the staff tried to be nice. For the price ($50 excluding gratuity) I could have gone to one of my favorite restaurants with impeccable service).

  7. Small little spot in the middle of a busy avenue. If you're not paying close attention, you just might miss it. Definitely worth the search, though. Their food is DELICIOUS. Now, I am a huge fan of cachapas (sweet corn cakes filled with cheese), and this place has the best ones I've ever had. If you're into foods that are cheesy and fairly condimented then look no further. All of the dishes I've tried at Bella Caracas are flavorful and filling. This is a must try if you're into Latin American/ Venezuelan fare.

I recommend the cachapas with cheese, the vegetarian arepa, and the tostones appetizer.

  8. Been wanting an arepa for a while and decided to stop by for lunch last week. The menu is small and there are no lunch specials. Kinda pricey for lunch to be honest. So to be frugal and not overeat, I ordered a pabellon arepa. It takes 20 minutes to make which the waitress told me beforehand. It was pretty delish. It's on the small side so it may or may not fill u up. I would suggest lunch specials to draw in a lunch crowd. Maybe arepa with a side of plaintains, yuca fries, etc to make a more complete meal. What's a few cents of fried starch to bring in more business? Add $1 to the price to make it a lunch special. For a customer to order an arepa with a side for a lunch like this to cost over $10 is crazy. The empanadas are $4 which is pretty high. Not sure why. I didn't order any. A decent arepa place.
