Stopped by for a sangria around sunset, and I can't say it disappointed.”

  1. I liken BBGB to a beach bar. It's summer-y, it's got frozen drinks, it's got waterfront views, and you can just kick back and take in that delicious, salty, garbage air. OK, nope, that's just the East River. Got it.

Granted, the East River isn't exactly the Caribbean, but the fact of the matter is that in both cases you don't have to stray too far from the shoreline, be it adjacent to a beach or within the confines of Brooklyn Bridge Park, for a pesky thing like sustenance. That's either called convenience or laziness, take your pick.

Hence why I've been here twice. If I were to go off-campus for a better bite to eat after a stroll through Brooklyn Bridge Park, I'm not coming back. I'm going home. Not a ringing endorsement for the Garden Bar, I admit, but repeat after me: location, location, location. It's within striking distance of those main photo-op spots on Pier 1 of the park, overlooking Lower Manhattan. And those views are still accessible from a few of the tables, though the others obscured by park foliage are still lovely and leafy in their own right.

The service is lackluster, and the food is overpriced and run-of-the-mill, really – a smattering of salads, sandwiches, and pseudo-healthy small plates. You're better off with the bar drinks, be it rosé or a pitcher of local draft beer or my personal recommendation, whatever frozen slushie special they're shilling during your visit. BBGB employs Kings County favorite Kelvin Slush in these concoctions and little else tastes quite like a New York summer. Well, that, and a little touch of trash in the air from the East River, of course. What are you waiting for?!

  2. Great pop up spot next to the Brooklyn Creamery and River Cafe on the pier with a nice breeze and a great view of the  Brooklyn Bridge, the city skyline and you and even see Miss Liberty in the distance.

The drinks are decent prices and this place lets you hang out for a while without pushing u out for the next group to come in. There is a couple TVs under this tented pop up spot to watch the current game or Olympic event.

  3. I've just found a spot that I will return to again and again! It's just fabulous when you can leave home with no expectation and be pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

My bestie and I wanted to just take a walk around Brooklyn Bridge Park and perhaps get a bite to eat; down by the waterfront. At no time, did I have an agenda for what I/we were going to eat. We strolled and honestly, I thought perhaps I would end up having pizza or something like that because it was so late. Well, as we were walking and taking in the beautifully renovated Brooklyn Bridge Park/Dumbo, we happened upon the Brooklyn Bridge Garden Bar. Truly, I must have walked passed this place many many times but never recognized it. It's actually hidden from view by small scrubs and trees. Naturally, this gives the inner park restaurant it's character and ambiance.

The open air cafe/restaurant is outdoors and because of this, I really didn't have any expectations. I was overly impressed by the attention we received and the food was excellent. I enjoyed the special of the day (lamb burger with steaks fries) and my friend enjoyed a regular burger with fries as well. At some point between our eating and laughing, we both looked up and acknowledged each other's mutual satisfaction.

  4. The sangria was just ok. It's definitely an order yourself at the counter and grab a seat situation. Despite the humid day (that I went), it was fairly cool in the shade, and you can't beat the ambiance.

The menu selection is skimpy. The meat plate was very small (I thought) for the price. On the flip side, the watermelon salad was REALLY delicious.

I'd file this under places to go for to appreciate the view.

  5. perfect place to snag a drink after strolling through the park. beautiful views with fair prices. despite how crowded the park may seem, there's always a free table (I'm usually with a small group of 2-4). insider tip: lather on some bug spray if going at dusk/evening… mosquitoes are out with a vengeance

  6. I LOVED this place!!  We walked across the bridge from Manhattan so we were looking for a nice place to relax, have a drink and get a view of the water and skyline – Yelp guided us to Brooklyn Bridge Wine Bar.

We used our map app on our smartphone because it is a bit off the beaten path (to the right off Water St. tucked away behind trees) and discovered this hidden gem, dotted with colorful umbrellas and tables.  We picked a spot with a very limited view of the water and ordered some drinks.

The prices were steep but the drinks weren't weak like some places in the city.  Our server was quick and pleasant enough.  We stayed long enough for a round and then off we went to see more sights in Brooklyn Bridge Park.  All in all this was a great spot and we would recommend a visit if you're in the area.

  7. Love this spot! The view of the city is great! The dumbo Rita margarita was refreshing after a long walk from the park. Service is on point as well. Impressed! Will definitely come back in the near future .

  8. Allow me to plan the perfect spring Sunday for you:

Take the 35th street ferry to Bk Bridge park
Stop by the Garden bar first
    order their delicious bloody marys
eat a feast at smorgasburg (this one is superior to williamsburg, hands down)
    return for more bloody marys

    Perfect Sunday
