The food is prepared quickly and delivered quickly. The cashier people are friendly and the delivery people are friendly. As for the food, it's traditional NYC sugary-salty corn-starchy "Chinese," and by those standards it is above mediocre but not quite excellent. Typical dishes like General Tso's Chicken are a little too bready for my preference, but Sweet and Sour Pork (while not sour enough for my preference) was nice and lean and extremely crunchy. Kung Pao Chicken was a little gloopy, but there were lots of well-cooked vegetables, and I will definitely be ordering the Roast Pork with String Beans, because it was very generous with the lean meat and the fresh crunchy veggies. Lastly, the pork-fried rice is pretty good, all things considered.
Good Chinese and they're quick with delivery. Ask for extra sauce with your beef/chicken/shrimp and broccoli or it will come a bit dry.

When it's over 80 degrees out, it's not comfortable being in a restaurant with no AC.
I came here on a humid Friday afternoon and it was like walking into a steam room. I got the Chicken & Broccoli with regular fried rice and a shrimp roll. The chicken & broccoli had no flavor whatsoever, and desperately needed some salt. The shrimp roll was actually just a regular roll stuffed with cabbage and, get this, a little pork on the bottom! That is not okay. If I'm giving you my order, I would expect to get what I asked for, not something that I do not eat.
Customer service is sub-par, which seems to be the usual case with Chinese restaurants – I suppose to be fair, since this is the only Chinese restaurant in Roosevelt Island, that they can give crappy service and still get the same customers.
This place is pure cheap Gross Chinese food! This place gives Chinese food a bad name which is damn near impossible..But congratulations to you China1 kitchen for achieving this. I would rather haul my ass to Chinatown than eat one bite of this food. I pray every day they will sell this restaurant to a Chinese family who cares enough to provide clean authentic Chinese food. And yes their customer service is not courteous.. and that's putting it nicely. I know for a fact if ppl in China ate this food they would be like WTF?! This comment is no surprise to them for they know their food is crap. But they also know.. Much to my dismay they are the only game in town and there will always be a market for cheap ass food.

Every time I order they always are respectful, and they always get the order correct and sometimes even come earlier than expected.
The only issue I have with the place is that they do not accept credit/debit cards. If they did that would be perfect.
The restaurant itself is small so if you want to eat in, make sure it's not for long because of the limited space.
I used to work on Roosevelt Island..and this was one of the few food options around.. and the only "Chinese restaurant" around. And I have "Chinese restaurant" in quotes, cuz this sh!t ain't real Chinese food. The quality of the sh!t here..is extremely poor..even by Chinese takeout standards! LOL Many reviewers say they have extremely poor customer service and are hostile in their attitude towards people. I believe that is true..though I haven't seen it first hand.
Another issue I had with them.. Their delivery guys would be riding around on their bicycles..going extremely fast and wouldn't Yield for pedestrians in the crosswalk..or they'll be zipping past pedestrians on the sidewalk. So many times I was tempted to threaten them with a summons..Imagine giving a summons for speeding to a delivery guy on 2 wheels..LOLL xD
People who are giving this one star expect too much. It's fine. It's cheap Chinese takeout. It's less dirt cheap than the last takeout place I lived near, but it'll do. The woman serving me was very friendly. OH, and they serve buffalo wings, which is awesome.
