  1. Walked in for a casual cup of coffee. Coffee is good, oatmeal porridge is delicious, staff is cordial and ambience is super cute! Little nice coffee place with selected eating options. They should add some healthy breakfast options as well. Prices on the higher side. Overall 4 stars for ambience and good coffee – most suitable for a chat over a cup of coffee.

  2. Been here a handful of times and enjoy the ambiance a great deal. I don't know if I could describe it but from memory the impression it left me was a light and positive country kitchen style atmosphere. They have all the basic,, coffee, tea, etc. Wish they had a larger selection of pastries and savant dishes though. Definitely worth checking out if you're on the UWS and looking for cute coffee places!

  3. I make sure to get to this spot once a week for lunch. It's a great atmosphere to catch up on some phone calls, read, or just chill. My go-to is a glass of Malbec and the avocado toast. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel at home. This place is perfect for a quick getaway from work. Could be good by yourself or with a friend!

  4. They don't have WiFi on weekends and the cashier hates you before you even say "Hi."  But, get past that, and it isn't so bad.  The salmon sandwich is bomb!  It's a cute ambiance and work-friendly with plenty of space for all.  But, unless you can use Time Warner Cable's internet, save your work for the weekdays!

  5. I meet a friend of mine here once a month. It's a relaxing easy going place that recently started offering waiter service. I enjoy the earthiness of this cafe as well and the delicious salads and parties ain't half bad either. It gets crowded but clears out quickly. I'd recommend!

  6. This neighborhood is lacking in honest – to – goodness cafes. Starbucks is convenient, but a place to sit down, unwind, relax, and have a good cup of something hot? You'll have to walk several blocks.

I've visited Earth Cafe a few times since last December, first for teas, but later for breakfasts to go, and, most recently, a nice simple sit-down Sunday Brunch al fresco. The outdoor seating area is welcomed, though I prefer the indoor seating: though not Earth Cafe's fault by any means, many residents of the local SROs did ask us and other patrons for money. *shrug* It's New York, I suppose.

They've grown their menu since they first opened at the end of last autumn; once just teas, coffees, and small pastries, they've expanded their menu to sandwiches, salads, breakfasts to go (such as chia seed puddings), and cheese and meat plates, along with a small wine menu. That's a great move on their part! For brunch, we each got croissant sandwiches (egg, cheese, and bacon for him; goat cheese, honey, and walnuts for me) and they were delicious.

Though I am seeing other reviews of staff being downright rude towards customers, I have never seen such a thing in the ten or so months I've patronized this place; I'm guessing I've been there about 6 or 7 times. I can only say good things about the staff; they've been nothing but kind and courteous. (That being said…I'll be curious how future encounters may turn out!)

This is a great cafe to sit and unwind at, as well as a laid-back option for a light weekend brunch. Earth Cafe has really developed into a wonderful little oasis on the Upper West Side.

  7. I debated whether to give two or three stars.

Earth Cafe is a cafe on Upper West Side. Take the 1/2/3 train to 96th street. It's a quick journey if you take the express.

We strolled into Earth Cafe and there were plenty of seats on a Saturday afternoon. The space is quite open and casual, and we sat at the 6-person table. It's a good place to study – there were two groups of people studying with books + tablets out on the table. The water cups our server gave us looked dirty/ had visible residue. The menu is pretty small and overpriced. I was quite hungry but I ordered just a salad. The food was pretty good but in small portions. The salads are smaller than an entree yet bigger than a side salad. Our server left during our meal. We had no idea and were waiting for a while until I walked up to the counter and gave someone else our check. I probably won't be coming back.

  8. Real good coffee but that's about it. They don't have a lot of pastry selections neither they are something worth ordering.
I really like their coffee but with so many options within a few blocks the competition beats this place. Paris baguette, Filicori, Birch… those are my first choices.
