  1. top notch authentic Peruvian cuisine at a reasonable price  in a heavily Peruvian area of Paterson. ceviche mixto was awesome.. chicha morAda is a good accompaniment.. they have a full bar , which is where i sat, the waitresses were friendly and making conversation with me. toasted corn with a nice hot sauce and lime brought as a free appetizer. i shall return ! if you are in Paterson to visit the falls and historic district this is within walking distance (well not super close, but walkable)

  2. You know how I know a restaurant is good?  When I'm planning what to order next time and I haven't even left yet…

I only recently fell in love with Peruvian cuisine after a trip there this past August during which I had the opportunity to sample everything from mountains of ceviche to the talented dishes of Gaston Acurio and Virgilio Martinez to chairo at a tiny restaurant in Cusco.  Last night, I had some incredible Peruvian food at El Sabor De Mi Barrio that transported me back to my wonderful vacation memories.

We ordered the aji de gallina, lomo saltado, and the mariscado which had ceviche, chaufa, and jalea.  The portions were enormous!!!  The aji de gallina was creamy and flavorful while the lomo saltado was just a heap of deliciousness.  All three of the mariscado items were excellent although I probably liked the ceviche the most!  Dinner was washed down with some Cusqueña purchased from a liquor store across the street (btw, if anyone knows where I can purchase Cusqueña Negra, PLEASE message me because I have been hunting for it everywhere with no luck).

The restaurant was only moderately busy on Saturday night and service was prompt and friendly!  It's only a matter of time before I'll be back for more…
