  1. I went there with a friend yesterday in mid-morning, after we'd attempted going to the Starbucks around the corner which some reviewers had mentioned as being large (which it most definitely isn't, plus the fact that the blasting music was miserable).  This place has a TON of seating and we were able to sit there for a long time.  I only got a small coffee (a bargain at $1.49 plus tax) and it was just "fair", but the seating situation plus the two friendly young women working there were big plusses.

  2. This review is for our girl, Andrea!

Jason M. and I were full from our din din and of joy from our engagement.  We needed some fuel to get us around the city.  So we stopped at the next coffee shop which happened to be Europa Cafe.

I was just simply ordering when Andrea complimented my dress.  Since I was still on Cloud 9, I casually told her that I just got engaged.  Even though I never met her before, she gushed over us as if she was my BFF or little sister!  She insisted that she treat us to a coconut cupcake.  She exuded warmth.

Even though they closed the shop after our purchase, she wanted us to stay and enjoy our coffees and cupcake.  She even brought her smartphone and played some Aaliyah music for us.  She even wanted to come to our wedding.  I gave her a big hug.

Andrea brightens your day!  If you are grumpy and live and work in NY, go to Europe Cafe.  If you are lucky enough to have her make your coffee, you come out happy!

Europa Cafe, if you are reading this, Andrea deserves a BIG raise!

  3. I think the rating of 3/5 is accurate. This was a good spot on a Saturday to take a break from shopping. At 2pm, we were able to get a healthy lunch in a cafeteria style restaurant. When you walk in there are a few different stations you can go to (pasta, sandwiches, soups, drinks, etc.)

We opted for the salad station where you can grab a container of greens (small for $3.25 or large for $4.25). You hand the container of greens to the person who will make your salad and they mix in whatever additions you want and hand the container back to you with your salad. Neat idea! There is a list of ingredients on the board which not only shows how much they each cost but also how many calories they have. Cool! Lots of 50 cent options like beets, carrots, etc and then more expensive options like cheeses, avocado, chicken, shrimp, etc. There is then a selection of various dressings to choose from, again, with all the calories listed. Definitely makes you think twice on what you are ordering!

My hubby and I went for a large spinach and small kale container. We asked if we could split the greens but have different toppings and we could. I went for beets, egg whites, jack and cheddar cheese and raspberry vinaigrette. I wanted avocado but the person ahead of us took the last serving. Darn! That is why I opted for the cheese instead. My hubby got hard boiled egg, grilled chicken, jack and cheddar cheese and some extra virgin olive oil as his dressing. Total for both salads was $14.15 and we got some free water since we were "dining in". There is a main checkout where you pay and then you find yourself a seat.

Salads were yummy. The service was decent and we were able to find a spot to sit. There is also a washroom to use (just one though).

Nothing fancy but hit the spot so that we could fill our bellies, give our feet a break and then keep shopping 🙂
    Enjoy!

  4. It's a pricy but convenient place for to go to for breakfast. They have a healthy selection of yogurts and fruits, as well as omelettes with your choice of 3 ingredients and your usual breakfast special of eggs and bacon with home fries (have yet to try, but excited to soon). I also enjoy their carrot cake and cappuccino. Their pasta lunch special (which you can customize to include veggies, meat and cheese) was a bit too much for me portion-wise, but if you're looking for a heftier alternative to the create-your-own-salad lunch specials around the city, dig in.

  5. The "other" Europa Cafe which is a 3 minute walk from another Europa Cafe.

I just got a bagel there.  The usual, nice staff, good bagel.

More of the same, though no complaints.

Don't know what lunch looks like in there.

  6. A late morning's breakfast following an appointment nearby where a small fruit salad at $2.75 and one large chocolate chip cookie at $2.95 foots the bill and stomach.  Dinning space is clean with an abundant seating of a good selection of sandwiches.  There is one facility which is relatively clean.

Europa Cafe will surely sustain Midtown executives' coffee and lunch fix.

  7. the place is overrated.  the quality of the food is about the same as mcdonald's but their price is outrageous.  i picked up two breakfast sandwiches + coffee and the total came out to be over $7… i understand that it is "fancier" than fast food joints, but at least make the food more memorable.

needless to say, not coming back here anytime soon.  maybe if i'm craving a breakfast sandwich and mcdonald's is no longer serving breakfast

  8. This is a special Yelp shout out. Andrea [pronounced "on-DRAY-ah," not sure of the actual spelling] is our new best friend.

My fiancee Lesley Q. and I had just gotten engaged hours ago, and we desperately needed some iced coffee to keep our busy day going. Andrea made a casual comment about Lesley's dress,  after which we immediately told her we just got engaged [total fish for compliments].

Andrea was just absolutely lovestruck by our engagement… she was just so excited for us. She insisted on giving us a free cupcake. She also let us stay in the store for a few minutes after closing to enjoy our iced coffees and cupcake while they cleaned up.

She even took out her smartphone and played some music for us to help us celebrate our special day.

What a gal. Lesley insisted on a hug, which Andrea roundly deserved. She's definitely one of the characters we'll never forget on our engagement day.
