  1. I've started to be more adventurous in regards to their menu.  I tried the French Onion Soup and the Filet Mignon Entree last visit.  They serve up some of the single best FOS I've ever had!  Salty without being overly so, substantial beefy broth flavoring, MOUNDS of cheese, amazing bread, perfectly cooked onions…..LUSCIOUS!!!!

The filet entree was awesome….though I was a bit put off at first because they don't have a handle yet on consistent plating.  The couple next to us both ordered this dish and had MOUNDS of potatoes.  So did my friend when she ordered a visit or two before.  My dish was kind of skimpy on the potatoes.  Awesome step up on the new(ish) menu, but gotta nail consistent plating.

Still, nice!  The carrots were a bit too al dente.  The potatoes were a bit under salted.  But the filet was cooked to the perfect temperature, and the garnishes complimented it well.  More than enough for two meals, even with the skimp.

  2. Went here for A Taste of Magic show and the second floor was reserved. The seating was spacious, and the staff friendly and responsive, but only two for the whole floor. There was also a pretty nice bar with various drinks to choose from.

The salads we received for appetizer were supposed to have balsamic dressing, but they had French instead on the side. The lettuce was very bland and our table received them on different plates.

I had a burger for my entree which was thick and delicious- finally a worthwhile treat and even broke my no meat rule! They even put it on multigrain bread for me to feel somewhat less guilty. The fries were decent.

The cheesecake wasn't good, but I'm not a cheesecake fan anyway. And I did eat the crust anyway.

Still deserving of 3 stars for the burger, atmosphere, and of course the show. The show gets 5!

  3. Trust me: BUFFALO MAC AND CHEESE.  You will thank me for it.

One of my friends who visits NYC a lot swears by this place.  I walked past it a million times – same ol NYC story – and never went in.  I am a regular at another place close to this one.  Our bartender had the night off, and it's just not the same without him.  So I said, Hey, how bout Gossip.

Their happy hour was just a'ight. I believe I paid $6 for a cosmo, they had some beer and wine/wells specials.  The buffalo mac and cheese was out of this world. It's an appetizer but it was enough for a meal.  It's the best thing EVAR.

The one bartender, Brigid, was very sweet. I saw her the second time I went, and she was happy I remembered her.  The little things

  4. I would recommend Gossip as a good place to meet up with folks after work.  The location is fairly close to midtown and the bar does not have that $$$$ for lame food/drink midtown feel.

There are some good drink specials – the food was priced only slightly more than I would have paid for it and all was prepared well (Fish & Chips, Shepherd's Pie, Onion Rings, Curly Fries, Nachos).

The waitress was friendly and had good timing when it came to getting the next round.

  5. A Hell's Kitchen gem. My boyfriend and I went here this weekend before seeing a Broadway show. The service was quick and the food (we shared the muscles) was filling and delicious. But the best part? The drinks were good and cheap. My margarita, for example, was only $5 … a definite win compared to the borough's pricey cocktails. We even stopped by for another drink after the show and the drinks were still cheap. Will definitely be coming here again.

  6. My group got fish and chips and the mixed bean sandwich.  Very happy with both… Will definitely come again

  7. This place reminds me of a sad version of "Sex and the City".   Just wasn't too lively and a lot of sad looking people who were a bit overdressed were sipping cocktails.

Service was friendly though and drinks were strong so that's a plus.

But to be honest, I had a hard time saying "I went to Gossip" when my friends asked where I went the other night.  I guess the name turns me off a little bit.  Sorry about that.

  8. I had never been here before much to my amazement even though its literally across the street from one of my friend's apartments. Also, where my bud was conveniently hosting his 30th birthday two weeks ago. He had the entire upper floor room rented out I think for free. They specialize in hosting parties of all types pretty well. Trust in that there were enough people there and party crashers for whatever deal the bar had going to make this room being rented out cheap/or free. It's a really nice and generous space and very warmly lit. Also, I was pretty impressed that they had even a coat check hanger area by the door upstairs. Drinks were affordable for Mid-town at least and pretty darn strong. I was a hot mess later.

I will say that eventually at some point in the night I plopped down at the bar area by myself and ordered a grilled cheese and curly fries. They were really freaking delicious. Or I was just drunk. Because they don't even have a grilled cheese on their menu and I'm pretty sure I just demanded that. Kudos for Gossip putting up with my crazy request. Also, the pairs short program was airing on tv and some dude came up to me and asked if he could have one of my precious french fries and I nearly ripped his hand off for reaching out to my grub and disturbing my figure skating program viewing.
