  1. Cute little wine bar with a great backyard area that my two friends and I randomly found when our initial plans were derailed. The garden area in the back is very cute and feels more private and rural than you might expect in Manhattan. Our waitress was very nice and helpful with the wine selections – she recommended great glasses based on our tastes. We ordered a few different dishes that were all quite delicious: the ricotta, fig and honey toast, the prosciutto toast, the radicchio salad, the brussels sprout salad, and the mushroom and spinach crepes. I'm not usually the kind of girl to rave about a salad over a crostini topped with prosciutto or cheese, but the radicchio salad was truly superb: thin shaved radicchio, a just-sweet-enough dressing, currants, and nuts if I remember correctly. I'm actually looking forward to recreating it at home. The toasts were the perfect nibble to go with the wine. I'd certainly come back if I were in the area, although prices were a tad steeper than I think they should have been.

  2. Wonderful wine bar in an a pleasant intimate setting.  I wish I lived nearby so I could frequent this place. I love good wines, cheeses and meats so this place is perfect for long conversations and relaxation.

  3. Gottino looks like an amazing place to have drinks with friends and catch up. As it was lunch time, we just ordered a few plates to share. Their wine menu looks pretty extensive though!

We started off with an order of the Prosciutto Di Parma, aged 24 months and shipped in from Italy. This was served with a side of bread and olive oil. We both haven't had prosciutto in a while so this really hit the spot.

We decided to go with two Crostinis – Pesto Di Noci, or walnut pesto with parmesan and thyme, and one with goat cheese, fig, honey and crushed almonds. The walnut pesto was okay – it takes a few bites before you get used to the flavor. The goat cheese, however, was super delicious. It was sweet and tart at the same time because of the honey and the fig. The crushed almonds contrasted nicely with the smoother texture of the goat cheese. Definitely give this one a try!

'Our last shared plate was the Steamed Egg served with Smoked Salmon. The steamed eggs were nice and hot when they arrived. It tasted pretty good by itself but it tasted even better when put on bread with salmon. The smoked salmon was very flavorful and very fresh.

Service was attentive and on point. We received our dishes in a stacked manner so we weren't overwhelmed by food. They don't have a real kitchen so everything is prepared by the bar area.

  4. The patio is almost too cute, our waitress was adorable, wine and food were delicious.

  5. It's always good here. Cozy place – nice selection wines by glass – a bit pricier than they should be but no real issue. Small plates are excellent and different.  In particular the wild boar pate is intense and rich, not much need for the nice deep mustard they serve with it.  Was disappointed that the ricotta and fig crostini used dried figs rather than fresh (summer now) but the ricotta was very good and crushed almonds and honey all nice partners.   Try the walnut pesto crostini too – very unique, herby and satisfying.

  6. Cute, small, cozy, dim-lighted, romantic place for a date. I don't recommend noisy people come here in big groups. Though there was one when I went.

Don't come here to get super full. I'm not a huge wine person so I shouldn't have come here, but the beers were pretty good too. Not a huge selection of beers, but I think a wine enthusiast will love it here!

I explained to the waitress that it was my first time here and didn't really know where to start in ordering the small plates. She was not very helpful… She simply looked at me and asked, what do you need help with? When I explained to her, she just looked confused and asked if I didn't know what something on the menu was. So I just dismissed her.

Ended up ordering FICHI e RICOTTA crostini and it was the best thing that came out. If I were to come back, that would be the only thing that I would order. The ricotta cheese was perfect with the figs and drizzle of honey… YUMMM
Also got Prosciutto Di Parma and that was way too oily and salty. Made my lips shimmer all night. It was decent, but I would rather have had two orders of the

The rabbit pot pie was not amazing. Just tasted like a regular pot pie.
The brussel sprouts wasn't that great either. Just tasted like shredded brussel sprouts, which was exactly what it was. Not much flavor. Could have been roasted brussel sprouts and I would have enjoyed that more actually.

You can lose track of time here while enjoying glasses of wine and catching up with a friend, but I wouldn't come back for the food unless it was that crostini with ricotta cheese. YUM

  7. Disclaimer – This review is only about the wine (and great service!). After a long dinner, my family and I wanted to grab one last drink before calling it a night. This place looked inviting so we popped in – without even referring to Yelp first (for me, this is a pretty big deal).

As soon as we walked in, the waitress helpfully guided my somewhat tipsy family by to a nice large wooden booth (for some reason we were trying to fit around a little table near the stairs). She helped us all chose the perfect wine for our moods – a  great dessert wine for my mom (usually I hate dessert wine, but this was incredible), a presecco and amaretti for my dad (sour, bubbly and super refreshing), and a delicious earthy red I cant remember the name of for my brother and I (sorry).

The playlist was on point all night too – radiohead, beck….It was such a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Cant't recommend it enough. They change the wines often, so come by and let them guide you to the perfect glass.

  8. IN SHORT: An unassuming, cozy space in the West Village that raises the bar for wine bars throughout the city. While it's open until 2 AM every night of the week, weeknight guests tend to clear out by midnight, leaving a quiet and intimate space for those trying to hide away.

THE STORY: With its long, white marble bar dominating the space and its comprehensive list of well-priced wines by the bottle or glass, Gottino is clearly an elegant wine bar. But when chef Jody Williams of Morandi is involved, the very notion of the wine bar is transformed into something exceptionally fitting for New York. The menu of snacks and small bites is expertly curated, the sort of stuff of any cheese and charcuterie lover's dreams.

While the friendly and talkative staff behind the bar will certainly recommend their favorite pairings, the Crostini selection for $8 should be enjoyed with every visit, and the Pesto Di Noci with walnut pesto, parmesan, and thyme on thick, rustic bread could easily complete the hearty meal everyone is craving. In this case, that very meal can be satisfied, surprisingly, at a wine bar.
