  1. Romantic and lovely :o)

Upon arrival, you'll find a non-assuming converted house and enter through the front door. You will be greeted by a well-trained staff member who will take your coat and, if you are as fortunate as we were, will be escorted directly to your table. The small tables are adorned by simple tablecloths and each bears flowers and a candle. We were seated right by the glowing, natural fireplace, which was just lovely. Although there were several other tables with between 2 and 4 people per table, the restaurant was quiet and intimate. The restaurant was brightly lighted, which was the only drawback to an otherwise romantic setting.

The service was nearly perfect for an unrushed dinner. I ordered the tortellini, which was served in a light vodka sauce with zucchini, asparagus and sundried tomatoes. It was perfectly prepared, smooth and delicious, although it appeared to me to be more of a light tomato sauce than a vodka sauce. My date had the penne with sausage, which he also said was terrific.

On another visit we tried the wild mushroom rissotto, which was absolute perfection.  Our entrees of pork chops and stuffed chicken breast over ravioli were fantastic as well.  Wish we'd had room for dessert!

The lighting was dimmer on a Saturday night than it had been on a weeknight, and the sweetest man was playing the piano all evening.

I will absolutely be back, and recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely meal!

  2. The Ivy Inn is cozy, warm, homey and beautifully decorated.  I dined there for brunch recently and got to see the extra special holiday decorations.  In addition to sitting next to the fireplace, crackling with a warm fire on a chilly day, there was a beautiful Christmas tree on the other side of the table.  The dark wood interior, low ceilings and fireplaces would make this a great spot for a romantic dinner date.

The $18 two course brunch deal includes one brunch cocktail.  We started off with a freshly baked muffin basket, which was warm when it arrived.  I chose the mixed greens salad to start with blue cheese, apples, walnuts and a vinaigrette dressing.  It was delicious, although I wish it was served on a larger plate since it was filled to the brim and hard to keep neat as I was eating the first few bites.  For my main meal, I had the bacon and cheddar omelette served with potatoes.  It was a fine omelette.  The food left less of an impression than the decor and ambiance.  I'd definitely recommend the Ivy Inn for brunch, and am curious to go back for dinner sometime.

  3. I have been to the Ivy Inn a few times, mainly for brunch and lunch. I would say that the ambiance is the big draw considering how cozy it is inside. I recently went for brunch and the restaurant was decked out with Christmas decorations and we sat right by a warm fire place! This is a good choice for a romantic meal. The usual crowd seems to be a little bit on the older side. The servers are prompt and very nice.

I would recommend the brunch deal that is $18 for a alcohol drink (mimosa, screwdriver, bloody Mary), appetizer, and brunch item. You will also receive a delicious basket of freshly baked muffins. I ordered the walnut salad and veggie Eggs Benedict. Overall, the Ivy Inn provides a very pleasant dining experience.

  4. went here for sunday brunch once.. I had an omelette  and a mimosa and my bf got the steak and eggs.. My omelet was great and so was my mimosa, but his steak was tough and chewy.. They brought a basket of muffins and breads that  were very tasty.. The place was empty when we were there, but there were some regulars sitting at the bar watching football.. Not a bad place for lunch, but not for steaks…. I heard that they have an outside patio in the back I will have to check that out in the summer time..

  5. Cozy little place with a friendly staff. I've been here a few times and some were better than others. Try to come for lunch they have some nice menu items like salmon BLT. I really like their shoefly pie! The food is a hit or miss. I think this place can step up their game with the quality of the food, etc. Overall a decent place though.

  6. Subpar at its best. Poor attitude to add to the disappointment.
This was meant to be a nice Sunday brunch which was dealt an inconsistent blow after blow. It angers me when restaurants try to pretend that they are something they're not. When you say,"fresh cut French fries," I expect fresh cut French Fries. When you serve me shrimp bisque, I don't expect canned soup; especially from a $$$ establishment.
