  1. As far as Chinese-specific supermarkets go in North Jersey, this is basically your only choice. Luckily, this is a solid option.

As someone who grew up in Brooklyn near Bensonhurst, I know my way around an authentic Chinese supermarket. This place is surprisingly authentic. The staff is also split between Cantonese and Mandarin speakers, so keep that in mind if you happen to speak Chinese.

In addition to the standard fish and seafood selection, there's nearly everything you would expect from a Chinese supermarket. Teas, sauces, drinks. There's even a nice selection of almost fresh buns to choose from.

I came here specifically looking for a place to get some roast pork (char siu). As far as I know, this is the only place to get some in the area. Unfortunately, it was only decent at best. Not great, but not terrible either. You could tell it wasn't fresh, that's for sure.

Overall, this is a solid option for anyone looking for a Chinese supermarket in Bergen County/North Jersey.

  2. Oh snap!  They got pre-packaged fresh dim sum on the weekends.  Picked up a few of those bad boys last Sunday, late morning.  Also, got an awesome lunch special from their kitchen- rice and three sides for around $6 bucks.  That day, we ate like ancient Chinese emperor/empress for under 20 clams.  Boo-yah!

One star deducted because they no longer sell the big bag of Hong Kong red tea.  Indeed, they stopped carrying Hong Kong red tea altogether.  How am I gonna make my sweet milky tea now?  Huh?  You tell me.  I test you.  (I gotta stop seeing mychonny)

  3. The prepared foods are good (but make sure you go early in the day because that stuff sits out — all day).

Great selection of Chinese groceries and the prices are decent since they have to get it from China Town I bet.

The dim sum selection isn't as great as before and/or I hate fighting with moms and little old ladies for the shrimp dumplings I love. They must have changed who they got it from also.

  4. Not the most modern looking super market around but if you need Chinese products, produce and proteins without driving into the city, it isn't that bad.  Prices are of course higher than if you go into the city but then again paying for the gas and toll getting there is also not cheap.  Fighting your way through the typical traffic and then trying to fund parking in the city is also another negative adventure that one can avoid by coming to this establishment.

This super market carries a pretty good selection of items including fresh fish and produce.  I would give it more stars if the staff is a little more friendly and if they kind of modernize the interior just a tad more.

In a pinch if you need something that you can't get from your typical local grocery or supermarket without having to drive to the city, this place is for you if one can overlook the lack of friendliness and the age of the interior.

  5. One of very few choices in North Jersey for an authentic Chinese supermarket. I came here to get buns and char siu and found both for decent prices. The char siu wasn't the best I've had, but I thought the pork buns were good. Looking around the aisles, it looks like you can get everything you need here – good selection of both fresh, frozen, and packaged goods. Just be aware, the lines for checkout get LONG on the weekends (to be expected).
