  1. This place has a very serious problem in that it IGNORES the law about smoking.  We were half way through our lunch when the guy at the very next table outside lights up and  treats us to his smoke.  Staring accomplished nothing so I called the manager over and asked her to deal with the problem.  She said people are allowed to smoke outside under the awning.  This is absolutely against the law in New York City.  I said she could either ask the gentleman to stop smoking or we would leave.  She shrugged in response, at which point we got up and left.  Plenty of posts here about bad attitude — so we got the bad attitude combined with ignoring the law.  We won't be going back.

  2. Went here tonight on a whim, as it is close to Central Park concert venues.  Beautiful ambience (french cafe style), friendly staff, but beware the $4 soda!

  3. It seems restaurants in New York are a lot like real estate.  Its about location, not food.  The place is small, and has a kind of modern french art deco vibe going.  The service was fine, it could have been more attentive but could have been worse too.
As for the food, it was good, but at those prices I expect excellence.  I had the chicken wrap, and my fiancee had the mussels.  Both were tasty and pretty well done, but nothing that would blow you away.  Basically you are paying to be next to the so called high class retailers of Madison Avenue.

  4. Not a huge fan. I walked into this place around 2 on a Saturday for a glass of wine and it was pretty empty. When I asked them if I could be seated for a glass of wine they made it seem like there were no tables available. "Do you have a reservation?" Staff was stuffy and not at all attentive or helpful…I asked if I could have a wine list and was read off the few options they had by the glass. I ask if he could describe one of the options (any decent place should have staff that can describe a wine to you) and he said its a rose from such-and-such region. Not helpful. Don't bother. Only redeeming factor is their small outdoor seating area, which was nice and peaceful.

  5. This is known as a French bistro and they have an interesting variety of entrees including chicken curry, Cajun mahi mahi, steak and fries, and more.  I had the lobster salad which came with arugula, pineapple and grapefruit pieces.  It was quite good and I did enjoy it.  The desserts looked good but didn't try them-maybe another time.  The place is small and tables are close together but it worked. We were there mid afternoon when it wasn't too crowded. Service was pretty good.
